Anorexia is in the head. Most girls with eating disorders have one because of something triggering in their life to lead to it. Those who try to be anorexic are called wannarexics. They are probably looking for attention.

You do not have to be diagnosed by a doctor. Some people hide it well for years or just don't go to a doctor.

It's very common, and I believe can be contagious, especially in today's world. You aren't born with anorexia, it's society and your environment/home life.

There are WAY more than three.. anorexia nervosa can cause hypotension (low blood pressure), loss of menstrual period, lethargy, lanugo (downy hair on the upper part of the body), dry skin, constipation, cold intolerance, etc, etc.. and death.

Bulimia can cause impaired kidney function, dehydration, dental erosion, esophageal tears, electrolyte imbalance, cardiac arrhythmias, and death, among others.

Males account for only 5-10% of all cases.

It was Dr. Duncan MacDougall of Haverhill, Massachusetts who attempted to weigh the human soul. In 1907, he placed 6 dying patients on a homemade scale, which also acted as a bed for the patients. He then recorded their weights before and after death. According to Dr. MacDougall, there was a difference of 21 grams between the heavier, living patients and their dead bodies.

He also experimented on 15 dogs and found no loss of weight between the living dogs and their dead bodies. He believed this was because animals do not have souls.

His experiments were criticized since of the six patients, two tests had to be discarded and the level of error was very high. Obviously, it was not a very scientific study.

In addition, no one has ever been able to repeat the result of these experiments. Basically, there is still no physiological evidence of the soul. It's an urban legend propagated by a guy who did bad science - looking for an answer he already believed was true. Real science doesn't have attachments to pre-existing beliefs and values. It just observes and hypothesizes.

being bulimic is the worst feeling in the world! i always feel tired, nauseous, light headed, i never feel good. instead of feeling good about myself i feel worst because it messed up my teeth so bad i am embarrassed to smile.

A healthy person does not throw up their food. Please talk to a family member or friend and get them to help you or get some help for you... this is a serious problem. Your stomach is a muscle and if you continue to purge no matter if it's just fat foods your stomach will get use to it and will convulse! There are good fats out there, so read labels and don't be afraid to "pig out" once on a weekend and then get back into eating properly again rather than purging.

It could be an illness, or a serious eating disorder.

well, they eat whatever they want.. but then they throw it back it so it doesnt go back into their system. i think its okay....

since this is under bulimia, i answer this as

a) don't do it (yep-hypocrite me)

b) but between 15-30 minute is best before the stomach acid really starts to work its way and start digesting your food-so it will do less damage to your esophagus.

yep. it disappears after a while :] you get dry and all you think about is food. and if you are sexually active, and starving, it won't work, it's just gonna hurt both of you. it might not affect you as much if you're bulimic or have a binge eating disorder, but anorexia is the worst.

Anorexia is different from bulimia because anorexia is were you eat no food and you get really skiny were you see your bones and bulimia is were if you eat food you puke it back up and you see your bones as well and there is no cure to anorexia and bulimia.

You should not force yourslef to ever throw up. That is a key factor in the eating disorder, Bulimia, which is dangerous and can be life-threatening. Forcefully throwing up can damage the stomach, esophagus, and mouth. It can cause tooth decay and bleeding in the eyes and nose due to stress and strain.

It's hard to say. While throwing up after meals is a sign of an eating disorder called Bulimia, there are other causes. Certain medical conditions, medications, allergies, or food poisioning are possible, to name a few.

People who are bulimic usually fit the general category of someone who has - on more than one occasion (usually at least 5 or so) - binged (eatedn excessive amounts of foods, usually unhealthy ones, in a relatively short amount of time) and then purged (laxative abuse, forced vomiting, ect.) in order to avoid gaining weight.

It is possible that she is both anorexic and bulimic.

every time you purge, it puts great strain on your body including your eyes. blood vessels in your eyes sometimes burst, so the whites of your eyes are now covered in red lines. vision beomes very blurry following purging. the blood vessels will fix themselves in a few days if you do not continue purging.
