What sea is colder the Irish sea or the gran canary sea?
YES it is. you see the currents from the north Atlantic Drift are very cold and it passes through Gran Canary but it doesn't pass through Ireland. The warm currents pass through Ireland which come form the south Atlantic Drift. So that's how the Irish Sea is warmer than the Gran Canary Sea.

Canaries,or Serinus canaria, is a type of finch. Finches are small birds that live off of seeds, fruits, and tiny insects. If you were so desperate as to go and collect these items, then I suggest you type in a new question like "where to find wild mealworms" or "how to extract the seeds from a sunflower without destroying the edible part". But I am not here to tell you either of these things, I am here to discuss how to care for a wild/domesticated canary.
Birdwatchers tend to need to know exactly what to feed a wild animal, so a good canary hunter always has 3 things.
1:sunflower seeds
2:craisins, raisins, or any other type of small fruit you can get
3: chopped up mealworms(when chopped, the mealworm's scent permeates the area, attracting the critters)
When "hunting" for wild canaries, one tries to look for the perfect place. Usually a field with low trees and bushes is where you will spot the bird. the tricky part is not finding them, the tricky part is getting them to come and eat off you plate. They tend to come eat faster if food is on a silver dish. The reflected light attracts the animals. If you are lucky( I don't recommend this) you can sneak up upon the bird and catch it in a butterfly net. The trouble is that you must now provide the bird with a cage, a drinking bowl, and more food. This isn't very good because the bird will now hate you. However, if you continue your relationship with the bird, it will come to like you in the coming months.
Happy Hunting!

Can a parakeet mate with a canary?
I have a large aivery with four parakeets, two love birds and a cockateil. They all get along fine.
How long after mating does it take for canary eggs to be laid?
Maybe a couple of days. When it is ready the shell cracks a little bit everyday :)
What age does a canary start to sing?
Being held is fine. You will need to wait until the 6 month molt and see if you have a male or female and I'll tell you females are not known to talk. I've been around a lot of males and females and have never seen a female that talked. Still, in my opinion, they can make better pets in a lot of ways. I hope the talking isn't all that important to you. I've seen birds that are perfectly capable, but refuse for some reason. I believe it is because their owner is so anxious for them to talk that they tend to pick up on that anxiety and not talk at all.

Because in the wild, any sick or injured bird will be attacked by others in the flock. A sick bird will act normal for as long as it can so you don't notice it until it is too late. It seems like they die suddenly but they may have been sick for a long time.

Can a male and female canary live in the same cage?
Yes they can! Personal experience with jungle corns (which are crosses between corn snakes and kingsnakes) has determined that keeping a male and female corn snake does not implicate issues. Other people have often reported successfully keeping two or more snakes of the same species together, whether they are all male, all female or mixes of male and female. Sometimes people think they have two snakes of the same sex and find out that one of the snakes was wrongly sexed, when they end up with an unexpected clutch.
However, it is important to feed them separately. If not the snakes can go for the same prey and injure one another. It is also important to keep a close eye through the breeding season. Sexually mature females, that do not yet have the right size and weight to successfully lay eggs, can encounter problems when laying eggs. This is called dystocia and can result in the snake's death. It is not recommended to keep young snakes together. Cannibalistic behaviour has often been reported with young snakes, especially when dealing with hatchlings. The chance of young snakes eating each other is higher when they are not fed separately. When two young snakes start eating the same prey, they will eventually meet at some point and one will try to eat the other. This would often result in both snakes to die. One will obviously die because it has been eaten, the other will not be able to handle such a large meal and will suffocate.
Why do canaries pluck their babies feathers?
Generally when a bird is plucking - it means it is stressed or has a skin or feather problem. Do you bathe it regulary and has there been any dramatic changes or owner changes recently. Make sure the bird cage is against a wall, has minimal activity especially for sleeping and is receiving 12 hours of darkness a night to sleep. A cage cover is good for this. Also, keep it away from drafts and make sure there are no other animals stalking it. Also, if there has been more people handling them or poking fingers etc. in the cage, this will add to it.
