You need to know which species of turtle you are feeding. The natural habitat of the each species of turtle determines its diet as well as other facets of its care. For example, Map Turtles prefer eating meat, on the other hand the River Cooter's diet comprises primarily of plants, then the Malayan Box Turtle's feed should include lots of plants with only a small amount of meat, while the American Box Turtle is an omnivore which eats just about everything, and the Chinese 3-Striped Box Turtle's diet comprises mostly meat. Then there is the Red-Eared Slider, which begins by eating worms and bugs, but turns into an omnivore as it matures.

One of the best ways to make sure that your turtle stays healthy and happy is to feed it its natural diet as much as possible. Turtles in their natural habitat eat a wide variety of foods according to the season; hence, variety is the key to feeding your turtle.

a mobilian turtle (male or female) MALE-has long claws and bottom of shell caves in and there is a hole halfway on the tail FEMALE-has short claws and also the bottom of the shell should come out or be flat and the hole shold be right where the tail starts.

You can feed them fresh food (fruits). But you must give fresh food not too often and only for treats when your turtle grows older. You can also feed them live feeder fish for you turtle, such as small goldfish, guppies, and different kinds of tropical fish.(Only when they get older and only for a treat) You can also feed them worms that are alive, like earthworms, gardenworms, and bloodworms only for a treat. Just drop the worm in the water and your turtle will find it and will soon gobble it up. These treats sell at your local pet shop and are not expensive. You can also feed your turtle some little pieces of romaine lettuce. But do not ever feed it iceberg lettuce. But to a newborn turtle, you must only feed it dried krill or shrimp, because it is high in calcium, which is good for turtles and their shells, and also because it is nutritous. I hoped this helped. they dont eat as much as they used to. & they will act all cuddly with the other turtle. They will barely separate & he will spend lots of time on top of her to "protect" her.

Well not really, all turtles can be on land and breathe air, but if this is a really dry area, I don't know if it would be good for it. If you have a Red Eared Slider- like me you really should get a tank with dry land in it. All turtles can be in a dry habitat, but it won't be healthy for aquatic turtles. It really depends on the temperature and how long it stays in there.

Taking care of map turtles are more difficult to take care than other turtles. (except for snapping turtles) Map turtles should be taken care of a keeper who is experienced because taking care of map turtles are harder than other species. A map turtle has a higher nervous system than other turtles, and are sensible to water changes or condition. Map turtles only thrive well in very clean water, so you must get a strong fuilter if you are considering to get a map turtle.You also have to make sure to clean your tank often. Make sure that you set the tank and place it where it is quiet for they have a high nervous system. Make sure you do not put them near a place where it has very loud traffic, like near a window. The rest is just like taking care of other species. It would need a fuilter, a heater, a heat lamp(UVB and UVA), a basking platform (or just a place where it can bask), water that is deep, at least a 20gallon tank if you are going to keep 1 map turtle, or up to more than 100gallon if you are going to take care of more than 5 map turtles.

Well, male and female aquatic turtles are easy to tell apart in a few years. If they are not at least 4inches long, you cannot tell what is a male or a female. A female is usually much more bigger than males when they are grown-up. Also, a female has a more broader head (neck) than a male. A male has a longer, thicker tail than a female, and it has much more longer, nastier nails than a female. Those are about it how you can tell them apart. I hope this helped you.

You have a serious electrical problem in your living room. Chances are your roof is leaking into an electrical box shorting something out. Call a roofer and an electrician. I wouldn't recommend trying to DIY here, as there is something wrong that could kill you. Electricity can conduct through wet insulation from whatever is shorting, so you can get zapped poking around even if you don't enter any electrical boxes.

If the lights go out suddenly (as opposed to flickering) it may be due to a ground-fault circuit interrupter. This can be triggered by moisture entering an outlet or appliance anywhere on the same circuit. Make sure that outdoor outlets are closed against moisture when not in use.

Yes, they can eat ants, only in " Worst Case Scenarios " Like : You bought a slider and it didn't eat for more than 2 weeks, and you feed it an ant, and it likes it and wants more, sure. But if you feed it to your turtle as a diet, it may get sick, I have a R.E.S and I never fed it a ant, but I did research about this subject, so yeah, I hope I helped you!

PS : If you DO get a slider, and it doesn't eat for a week or two, don't get scared, they do that all the time in the first two weeks they live with you, try to feed it earthworms if it doesn't eat for more than 2 WEEKS. And if it completely doesn't eat, you should talk to a vet, of course. Because RESes and Sliders have a BIG BIG BIG appetite, and its obviously weird for them to not eat " Earthworms "
