And it will take a while for it to get used to it. Then you can take the cat out. Some cats take right to it, however, and need no training.

No, the cat's personality will not change after being fixed. This is a common misperception about spaying/neutering. Many people think that, if their cat or dog loses its sexual urges, its personality will change too. Exactly what people think is going to happen to their pet varies from person to person, but the usual fears are that the cat or dog won't want to play anymore, will just want to lie around and sleep all day, or will become grouchy and mean.
None of these fears are grounded in reality. Your cat or dog's personality will not change just because he/she has been fixed. I think this just may be an issue of domination over the other. Males usually will fight for the top, no even if they are fixed or what gender they may be. If you have just introduced either or to the other, your male might not be ready to accept his new acquaintance. Try keeping them apart for a couple of days at least, and then slowly start reintroducing them. Cats are usually cautious over new people or animals that may be introduced to them, ecspecially if they haven't been socialized as much when they were younger. Also make sure that you closely observe them both the next time your male trys to fight. You might learn a lot more from the body posture and language of both cats. Is your male taking a large stance, swatting his tail and pinning his ears back? If so, you are right in saying that he is picking a fight. However, if his body is somewhat relaxed, his ears pricked and his eyes bright, he may just want to play the other cat. If this continues being a problem, you can always consult your veterinarian for other options.
