Why do domestic cats hide their kittens even from those they know and love?
It's instinct; non-domestic cats do that to hide their young from people/animals/things that might injure them.
How can you tell when a cat is in labor?
what will be a sign that my cat in labor
SUPPOSEDLY the cat will call to you and will start going in and out of its bed, and doing a lot of licking of her vagina.
I say "supposedly" because I brought a pregnant stray in once. She decided to eat while she gave birth...so I'm sitting there catching kittens and pulling the afterbirth out while the damn cat has her head in the food bowl...every once in a while I'd turn the mother around, show her the kitten I just caught, she'd wash it off, eat the placenta (they all do this, it's disgusting but necessary because there are LOTS of vitamins in it), let the kitten nurse for a few minutes, then she'd get back up and start eating just in time for ANOTHER kitten to fall out.
When she was done with the birthing process she did settle down and let them feed, and she was a real good mother...but you would have never suspected it from that little performance.
How to train a cat to stop doing something?
I've used a spray bottle like the kind you get cleaner in and every time I catch my cat doing something, I spray it while using a sharp sound like "Psssst". I try to use the same sound every time so that the cat will associate it with water. Later, I can just make the sharp sound and the cat will jump and probably scramble away to avoid the water it thinks it is going to get.
Are there harnesses for panic stricken cats to trim their nails?
As far as I know, no. However, you can try wrapping the cat up in a towel -- sort of like a kitty-kat straightjacket -- to keep it from scrambling around and wriggling away from you.
If this doesn't work, try contacting your vet. Some veterinary practices provide nail-clipping services. At my vet's office, they give free nail-clippings every Thursday afternoon. My cats are horrible about getting their nails clipped -- my brother even tried helping me one time, and the two of us together couldn't do it. So I just leave it up to the veterinary assistants.
There and loads of differing species of felines, so stating where every species lives is impossible without delving deep into detailed information. House cat species are aptly named because their adaptation is suitable for homes. Wild cats, meanwhile, are too aptly named because of their adaptation to hills, mountains and alternative outdoor areas, including jungles and rainforests.

Can a Siamese cat and a Pug live together?
Generally speaking, most cats tolerate dogs especially old, less rambunctious dogs. small dogs may be injured by any cat if they get to excited or playful [cats intrpret this as aggression]
Be sure to introduce the new pet gradually. keep a leash on the dog for the first few weeks so you can grab her if need be. let the old pet sniff an article belonging to the new one. [collar, cage, harness etc]keep visiting sessions short, and reward each pet with a favorite food [cheese, tuna, wet food etc] during successful interactions [good behavior = treat] and separate the two immediately if you sense any hostility. after a few days of this the two should get along fine

Your cat is chewing one of his paw so bad when he walks on it it hurts him?
cats chew on their paws all the time. they are probably just cleaning it, so it won't hurt them. if it is chewing on it's paws constantly, you might want to take your cat to the vet, just to be sure.
I have three cats. It was a chore with two cats keep that "perfumed" cat poop smell control. Then when we got our third kitten four months ago I could not believe how bad it was. Of course you go out and buy the "best" clumping, "best" oder eating and "best perfumed" litter you can buy. All I would smell when I hit my front door is "perfumed cat poop". I don't understand why we keep smelling it.
We scooped and changed the litter every other day or daily. Then the light bulb came on. My son has a ferret and we use feline pine for him, mainly because perfumed litter is not good for them and the find gravel would get in his little ears and eyes. So, I put the feline pine in the cat litter box. Immediately no perfume smell. Then when the cats went there was no lingering poop smell. I found Arm & Hammer Natural Clumping Litter. It looks like ground sawdust but it has a nice light smell. So now I pour the Feline Pine in the litter box and add a few hand fulls of the Arm & Hammer Natural Clumping litter and mix it. Now when I walk into my apartment and I no longer smell the litter box in our laundry room.
Another take on this is not to change the litter if you are happy with it, but to change the food instead. A food that creates an awful smell when it comes out the other end should be a sign they may be eating the wrong thing - if the food is full of cheap filler or other ingredients a cat cannot digest, then it will just get rid of it. A cat's waste should not smell so bad that you have to hold your nose when you enter the room, or smell it from several rooms away.
Take a look at the ingredients on the cat food. What is in it? A good quality cat food should have named meat as the FIRST (or first three) in the list. Named meat is usually labeled as Chicken, Turkey, Fish, Lamb, Beef of other meats. Labels such as Meat Meal or Meat Byproducts are poor quality protein sources which isn't particularly ideal.
Other labels to avoid are ones that contain the names Corn, Cereals, Grain, Wheat and Gluten. All these are cheap filler that manufacturers put in as it is cheaper than meat. However, cats cannot digest these very well, especially in such high levels that are found in poor quality cat food. This, amongst other ingredients, just pass right through and this is what causes the awful smell.
First, can I ask why this is in 'Cat Behaviour?'
The purpose of a vacoule is to remove and store waste and water from the cell.
I am pretty sure it does. It depends on if it is a solid feces or a more liquid feces. Just wash it for a long time. I hope you get it out. To stop it from using the bathroom on you- you should get cat treats and give it a cat treat whenever it uses a litterbox.
Why do newborn kittens cry when you pick them up?
Kittens, especially before their eyes open, must rely on scent. Their moms have an odor they know; it's where they get food. You smell different from their mom. Frightened, they cry for her to know where she is. You should not frequently pick up kittens until after their eyes open, and always return them to mom if they cry.

What is the meaning for no room for swinging a cat?
From the British (Royal) Navy and Army and refers to there being not enough room to effectively swing a cat o' nine tails, commonly shortened to 'the cat', which is a type of multi-tailed whipping device that originated as an implement for severe physical punishment.
Space on a ship or army billet was often cramped and often the complaint was that there was not enough room to swing a 'cat'.
Your Cat has given birth to five kittens is it safe to keep one in the same house as her?
Yes, it is totally safe, and it is likely the two of them will have a closer bond than the mother would have with a different cat.
But one thing to note: cats do not have the type of memory that humans do to remember that the cat they are living with is their mother, their son, etc..., so they will forget in a few months.
Why does a cat claw at their mouth?
If I am understanding you correctly, the cat is using its claws to attempt to push some unseen object away from its mouth.
If this is correct, The cat might have gotten into something it should not have that has an unpleasant taste to it. You should get the cat checked by a vet just to make sure it is not a poison of some sort. That seems to be the most common reason for this behavior

Could you put your cat on a lead and let it go in your back garden with you if it is an indoor cat?
You could try, But she/he probably wouldn't like it and would refuse to move. Good luck!
Yes. But do not use a choker chain or a regular collar. Their throats are too delicate for a choker chain and the collars will just come right off. Use a harness and leash. And it will take a while for it to get used to it. If you cat is a more nervous cat, you should put only the harness on for short periods of time each day, making them longer gradually, until the cat is used to it. Then attach the leash and repeat. Then you can take the cat out. Some cats take right to it, however, and need no training.
