Usually when a cat has her kittens, the male may be confused, and even scared of her kits. He will wonder: What the heck? Suddenly, one of my 102 wives produced mini me's!! The behavior of the tom (or toms, if more than one male mated with the she-cat) will vary, and eventually, the tom will learn to accept the kits as just another cat in the house. Sometimes, though, the father will try to attack the kittens, so I suggest keeping the mother and kits in the same place she birthed them until they are grown enough to defend themselves.

It's very likely if he is an outdoor cat. Cats are kind of moody, and they don't get as attached to a family like a dog would. Especially if he is a tomcat, un-neutered cat. Yes. A cat is considered a kitten until it reaches 1 years of age. At 1 year old, a cat is thought to have stopped growing and fully mature. Large breeds such as the Maine Coon develop much more slowly and are not considered adult until they are 3 or 4 years old.

actually you are wrong about it being dead. Because my cat who is about a year old has not purred or meowed in about 6-7 months. My oldest nephew ran through a door thge cat was on thge other side and it smacked her in the face hard enough to where she was bleeding really bad. Made a few vet trips and she is fine today, the only thing is she is now more skittish, shows mild aggression towards children so we keep my 3 yr. old away from her and her isolated from children but she plays with the other cat here and after almost a year is becoming a little bit more sociable. Just because a cat is not meowing or purring does not mean it is dead. I think my cayt stopped purring because of her tramatic incident, anything is possible. If it is a big concern Iwould suggest looking at what the cat has been through, and/or talking to your veterinarian. She might be able to help.

If your cat "hates" lavender (the flower) it could be allergic. I'm assuming your a new owner, so here is another reason your cat could hate lavender: Some certain plants dogs and cats CANNOT eat because they may get sick and can sometimes even die! It is not at all uncommon for a cat to hide her kittens. Frequently, she will go so far as to move them from place to place to ensure that they are not "discovered" by predators. A kitten can start eating hard kibble by the time they are fully weaned, usually eight to ten weeks old. However, dry kibble is best used as a supplement to wet food. Kittens need a lot of nutrients to grow and develop in a healthy manner. A kitten can eat up to four times as much as an adult cat, so the more meat in the food, the more nutrients the kitten will get, thus will eat less than a kitten fed lower quality food. Be sure to feed small portions four or five times a day.

Cats are strict carnivores, so get all their nutrients from meat. Good quality wet foods are high in Protein and Fat, cats use these two nutrients as their primary source of energy. Canned food is also preferable to feed a kitten (and adults) due to the the amount of moisture in this type of food. Cats are notoriously bad drinkers, even when they are thirsty. This is because they have evolved to get all their needed moisture from their prey (their ancestors were cats that lived in very dry and arid environments where water was hard to come by), so therefore have a low "thirst drive" and will not often seek out water on their own. This is a trait that has been passed down over the thousands of years.

Canned or pouched food has anywhere between 60 to 80% water. Seeing as in the wild a cat's prey is around 65%-75% water, wet food provides a cat with more than enough water each day. Most dry foods have either zero or 10% moisture in.

Many dry foods and low-quality wet foods are often packed with carbohydrates - "filler" in the way of grains and cereals, none of which cats can digest or gain any nutrients from. Grain is used instead of meat because it is cheaper to produce and helps kibble pieces hold together. Cats need MEAT based protein, not PLANT based protein. Cats will often overeat on lower quality foods because they are not getting all the nutrients they need, which often results in obesity and diabetes. Because kibble is baked at such high temperatures, all the "natural" nutrition is destroyed. Wet food isn't processed to such high levels as this, so most of the nutrition stays intact.

Lastly, it is not proven that dry food cleans a cat's teeth. Kibble is hard and brittle, so shatters at the tips of the teeth - providing little or no cleaning friction. Dental issues usually start under or around the gumline, so kibble is usually ineffective. Some cats don't even chew; they will just swallow the kibble whole. However, some cats will have perfect teeth no matter what food they eat, while others will not benefit at all.

Many owners feed both, and for growing kittens the option of a bowl of biscuits left out during the day may be ideal. There are some decent dry foods out there such as Applaws, Orijen and Felidae with a height meat content in them and zero grains.

It may be that the dog has a build-up of energy and no outlet for that energy. From what I have heard this is more common with high energy dogs. So to cure this behavior you should come up with an activity to help the dog expend energy and feel satisfaction by fulfilling some role eg herding, running them through an agility course, etc.
