Tachometers are installed on the positive side of the coil. If you have an older HEI distributor, you should find a male terminal where the electrical connections go designed for a tach installation.

All small block oil pumps will physically interchange with each other, before 2000. Keep in mind they make high pressure, and high volume pumps, as well. They are usually just big block pumps. Yeah, they are all the same.

No. It won't bolt up, the bell housings are different for a V8 and V6.

You'll need the carb, intake manifold, gaskets, air cleaner assembly, and any linkage that is different. If the carb is purchased new, you should be able to order the right linkage.

Yes, they will fit on the block. The larger combustion chambers of the 307 heads will probably reduce the compression ratio by a fair amount, reducing power output.

If it's a HO then it definitely does, if its the normal one, you might not.

No, it's not too late. Go ahead and reseal the bolt, then torque to spec. Oil should'nt be getting to the intake manifold bolts. Could be a problem with the gasket under the intake and the oil is just finding it's way out at the bolt. If it's leaking that dirrection it could be going other places it should'nt as well. you should have this checked, it might be causing other damage that you won't see until it's to late. You could reseal and tighten the bolt, but that could just cover the problem up and force the oil out some place else.

the number 1 cylinder is on the left side (drivers side) all the way up front. (closest to the water pump/fan)

most generally it is located in the top of the valve cover on one side or the other. it will be attached to a 1/2 inch rubber hose normally.
