Yes, there is child labour in the United States, however it is less common than in a 3rd world countries. For example, there are children working in agriculture (farms) where they work with harmful pesticides. A 1990 survey found that more than one third of Mexican American children working in the New York farms have been sprayed with pesticides. Furthermore, one is wrong if s/he thinks that child labour only happens in poor third world countries. Child labour, to a lesser degree, takes place in developed countries as well. Child labor creates unfair business practices. It harms the children forced to work at a young age and puts others who do not use child labor at a disadvantage for charging more for their services.

The industrial revolution was a period in time during American history in which the colonies began to take notice of their capabilities to supply the products needed that they originally depended on Great Britain to supply. The colonies also realized that they could raise their own money by creating a way of mass production and selling products to other countries.

Yes, the European Union has banned child labor. But it is still a problem especially in agriculture. And it is not well enforced. The Commissioner for Human Rights for the Council of Europe reported that millions of children are working in the fields and some of them in dangerous conditions.

They fight their parent's beliefs because they are questioning everybody and everything on the way to becoming separate adults. You can discuss things they need to know, but take them lightly when they come up with different thoughts. However, I think they still need to go with the family "rules" for living while they are in the household and act reasonably pleasant about it even if they don't agree.

It started when Samuel Slater brought the US the invention of the textile machine from England. He needed easy, cheap labor for his factories. Since there were no laws about child labor back then, he could make children (generally ages 8-15) work under harsh conditions for long hours and extremely low pay.

Reformers like Mother Jones and Jane Addams pushed for child labor laws, and eventually those laws came to pass. Now, the law is that a child cannot work for more than 8 hours a day, and that the workplace must have safety rules/regulations.
