It should have either a sort of "finishing post" behind it, if so it is the miles done since the trip computer was last reset. Pressing the end of the right hand stalk will show other data such as average speed or fuel consumption over that distance.

How do you reset the low oil pressure warning on a xsara Picasso?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's not a reset you need! you need to solve the problem.

The warning signal and audible bleep are telling you to sort the problem out.

If you check your oil level and it is OK, you may left be wondering what is causing the problem?

Though LOW OIL PRESSURE isn't always about how much oil you have in the car, the problem is how the oil is being distributed around the engine.

My advice is have a look at the oil. Is it black? Runny? Like thin treacle? If so, dump it and put the same grade of oil back in the vechicle. Check the filter! It's located at the front of the engine (pretty central), On a Picasso it's close to the radiator, so you'll need a 27mm socket and a long extention to release the cap.

If the filter is clogged then it will need to be changed.

Of course there are other things that cause the problem, oil pump or oil pressure switch maybe faulty, though changing the oil and filter is simple and can save you an expensive repair.

-----------------------------------------------

I had a problem where the low oil pressure warning was displayed on the dash. I found that if I switched the passenger airbag off, then on again the message disappeared. It worked for me (no idea why). It is worth a try as its very easy to do.

What does the Oil pressure warning light on a citroen Picasso xsara mean?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Oil pressure is low. Check oil level and condition (is the oil black and thin? If so, change oil and filter) If this doesn't fix it, the engine might be badly worn or the oil pump may have a fault. Have your local garage take a look.

Can mileage be changed in a Citroen Xsara?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Sure... Almost every car can be "clocked" today in a few minuts with a laptop, but usually it wont change the milage in the ECU, so a citroen dealer can check it for you, if you are worried abaout being ripped off.

Where is the oil filter on a Citroen Xsara Picasso?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The oil filter sits at an angle at the front right-hand side of the engine as you look at it. It has a black bell shaped cap on it with a black moulded hex nut on top. The cap and nut are all one moulded unit. The nut is not separate and the whole cap will spin when you loosen it by turning the nut - just screw it off and replace the filter and seal then re-tighten.
