How do you calculate the pitch of a spiral spring?

You can tell if a spiral spring pitch is normal by this equation; 0.2*D < p < 0.4*D. However, you can calculate a spiral spring pitch by l = πDn, A = πd2 /4.

Is it hard to find a civil engineering job?

I've recently graduated with my BS in Civil &Environmental Eng and I can vouch that it has definitely tough to get a job now. I graduated with a 3.2 gpa, have had 2 internships while in school and worked for a contractor after I graduated only to be laid off shortly after due to budget restraints and a lack of business within the company. I even know of classmates who graduated a year before me and are still looking for jobs. This is not to say that it is a field that is not in demand, but as in any recession the first sectors to feel the economic effects are large scale developments and investments. When investors and municipalities don't invest civil engineers don't have work. However, the economy is bound to rebound out of this recession and once people gain confidence to make big investments we will be back in demand in the market. Also, It is a widely known fact within the industry that the infrastructure of our nation needs to be rebuild, since much of it was first constructed more than 50 years ago. I would say to just study whatever it is that interests you the most and your passion and motivation in that field will bring the jobs coming. Personally, I will be using this time off to go back to school and get my Masters.

What is the process of concrete harding called after the initial setting process is over?

The process that occurs after initial set is commonly referred to as Curing! What actually happens is "Hydration" , which is the reaction that takes place within the concrete matrix between the chemicals and the water in the mix.

Very important that mix water be retained inside for complete hydration to take place. Of late, engineers an design professionals are placing much more emphasis on "Internal Curing" than ever before!

What is difference between limit of proportionality and tensile strength?

The proportional limit is the stress value at which the stress is no longer linear with strain. After that, the material will begin to yield and become non-linear, or plastic, and then it will fail at a higher value called the tensile strength. For most metals, the proportional limit is well below the tensile strength; for example annealed stainless steel has a proportional limit near 30 ksi and tensile strength of 80 ksi; aluminum has a proportional limit of 35 ksi and tensile strength of 42 ksi.

What is the yield strength of 10MM and 16MM diameter Mild steel bars?

yield strength of 10 mm is 32214 mpa

0r 3287 kgyield strength of 16 mm is 82467 mpa

What adverse effects can be caused by thermal expansion of materials?

Can lead to the cracking, warping, or loosening of components in the structure during their service life, and they can lead to the cracking of ceramic parts and in the tools and dies made of relatively brittle materials.

Why it is undesirable to design over reinforced sections?

There are two basic reasons
1. In over reinforced section failure happens due to concrete which is sudden without any type of warning like bending or deflection....
2. Steel is one of the most costly material used in construction work so from the economical view it is also undesirable to provide over reinforced section...
