Do you have any information about Henry Gunckel clarinet?
In the Shackleton Collection of Clarinets at Edinburgh University there is an example of a Henry Gunckel stamped clarinet. This brand is said in the catalogue to be a trade name of Buffet Crampon, Paris, 1880-1920c. Somewhere else on the web I've seen a statement that a Chicago importer (Healy?) stamped imported French clarinets with the Henry Gunckel name. This is not inconsistent with the first piece of information. I have a B flat simple (albert) system example which is chunky with a high key action and really nice nickel silver keys.
Who invented the clarinet and were are they from?
Johann Christoph Denner invented the clarinet in 1690. He was born in Leipzig in 1655, Germany, and died in 1707 at the age of 52.
I think what you are probably referring to are the clarinet's sliver keys, which are located between the 2nd and 3rd fingers of the left hand and the 2nd and 3rd fingers of the right hand.
The left hand sliver key allows one to play Eb with the first two fingers pressed down (Bb second register). The right hand sliver key allows one to play B as a replacement for the right middle finger (F# second register, Eb third register).
These keys are especially useful for trilling and chromatic exercises. I have personally found that the B and F# produced by the right-hand sliver key offers superior intonation and tonality to the alternative middle finger option.

The term Concerto (plural concertos or concerti) usually refers to a musical work in which one solo instrument is accompanied by an orchestra. The concerto, as understood in this modern way, arose in the Baroque period side by side with the concert grosso, which contrasted a small group of instruments with the rest of the orchestra. While the concerto grosso is confined to the Baroque period, the solo concerto has continued as a vital musical force to this day. This article will concentrate on the development of the solo concerto.
Cork grease is a substance that "greases" the corks on any woodwind instrument. This makes it much easier to put together. If corks do not get greased enough, they will tear and fall off. If cork grease is not available Vaseline can be used but must be wiped off before storing your instrument.
Vaseline penetrates cork, occasionally loosening the glue. Therefore adding small amounts of hard waxes such as carnuba , beeswax etc., over very gentle heat, can make wonderful cork grease with custom tailored consistency.
