In The Amityville Horror did the walls actually bleed?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, according to George Lutz (the father of the family who lived through the haunting in Amityville in 1976) the walls never bled. He has stated this during various TV and radio interviews over the years.

The idea of the bleeding walls is likely the combination of two supposedly real events:

1) One day George and Kathy discovered tiny drops of a greenish gelatin-like substance on the carpeted floors. They cleaned it up and blamed it on the kids. When this happened a second time on a different day, the kids were not around to blame. The source for the substance was unknown.

2) Another strange activity in the house took place on the keyholes of several interior doors. A black epoxy-like substance slowly grew from the keyholes, resembling long black teardrops. During their stay, this substance grew longer, but was always hard to the touch -- it was never found in a softened state.

The fictional blood (or slime) oozing from the walls seems to be a combination of these two incidents, neither of which appear in Jay Anson's book or the later film. Jay Anson admitted to using artistic license (especially in regards to moving events around and making the story seem more exciting) but it is unclear whether this was a direct fabrication on his part, or perhaps misinformation given to Anson by a third party.

Who played the mother in Psycho?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Nobody- the whole point is that Norman Bates's mother was long dead, and that he had preserved her corpse using his taxidermy skills. His psychotic condition made him alternately assume her personality and then his own- when he committed murders, he would dress up in her old clothes believing himself to be her at that time, talk in her voice, and afterwards snap back into his own personality. His own character and his delusional 'mother' character would each blame the other for the killing.

Thus the 'mother' character was played by Anthony Perkins all along, wearing old ladie's clothes. The corpse discovered in the fruit cellar at the end was just a wax dummy, it wasn't a real person in make-up.

What's the name of an old black and white horror flick where a woman who comes in to prepare a dead woman's body for burial steals her ring and gets frightened to death?

Answer

Black Death

Black Sabbath (1963)
A great trilogy of horror tales hosted by Boris Karloff. 'The Drop of Water' stars Jacqueline Pierreux as a nurse who steals a ring from a dead spiritualist (bad idea), 'The Telephone' stars Michele Mercier as a call girl plagued by harrasing phone calls from a man she sent to prison, 'The Wurdalak' (from Tolstoy) stars Karloff as an evil patriarch who feeds on blood. Boris also acts as host for all three segments

Is bell witch based on a true story?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Do you mean The Blair Witch Project? No, it's a pure work of fiction. Some of it's inspiration may have come from old American folk tales of paranormal events that took place in the 19th Century (most of which were probably either made up completely or else grossly exaggerated, and in any case could never be proved), but it's not based on a real story, no.

Does the movie 'It' have inappropriate scenes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Inappropriate for who, or what? Without knowing what you mean by "inappropriate," your question can't be answered. The words "appropriate" and "inappropriate" have only situational meaning. That is, anything can be appropriate or inappropriate, depending on the situation.

When the situation is left unqualified, the words "appropriate" and "inappropriate" become totally meaningless.

For example, a sexy green dress would be appropriate for a cocktail party, but inappropriate for a funeral. So you cannot simply ask, "Is this dress appropriate?" You have to specify: "Is this dress appropriate for a cocktail party?" or "Is this dress appropriate for a funeral?"

Or, "Is this movie inappropriate?" Inappropriate for who, or what? The question needs more information: "Is this movie inappropriate for an 8-year-old child?" or "Is this movie inappropriate to watch at my grandmother's 90th birthday party?" or "Is this movie inappropriate for a romantic night at home with my boyfriend?"

In other words, nothing is simply "appropriate" or "inappropriate." Whether something is appropriate or inappropriate depends on the situation, which you have failed to provide.

What is the title of a classic black and white horror film where a space pod is unearthed in a tunnel being dug for a new subway tunnel and examination reveals a grasshopper type insect?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There was a film like this called 'Quaretmass and the pit'. It was in colour but some camera shots of the grasshopper/demon like creatures were in black and white because there were images from a machine 'scanning' the pods. Sorry, just read what I posted but it should say 'Quatermass' pronounced 'kwaitermass' I've seen this movie several times under the title "Five Million Years to Earth".
