Clomid is a fertility drug, used to stimulate FSH and LH production and hereby the ovaries to produce eggs in ovarian disorders.

Clomid is an non-steroid anti-estrogen. Mechanism of its action consists in a specific binding with receptor for estrogen in ovary and hypophis. In patients with low estrogen levels in organism it causes estrogen effect and in ones with high estrogen levels it causes anti-estrogen effect. Its small doses increase secretion of gonadotropins (prolactin, Follicle stimulating hormone, FSH and interstitial cell-stimulating hormone), stimulates ovulation; in large doses slows secretion of gonadotropins. In the whole action of Clomid consists in stimulation of ovulation to occur and prepares the body for pregnancy. This medication may be used for male patients with infertility caused by low production of sperm.

hey my husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for four months my doctor put me on clomid 50mg days 3-7 of my cycle and wondered around about when i would ovulate and when would be able to take a pregnancy test and it show

Yes it does!!! I'll tell you what i went through......i don't have pms so my dr put me on meds to make me have, and youhave to take that for 2 weeks and then you start clomid the thrid day of your cycle. then as im sure you know you have to do the "baby dance" every other day. then with in a week or two you have blood work done!!

Well the first time i did that i got pregant the very first time and i was so happy and my husband was too! but i went for a check up when i was 6 weeks and there was no heart beat. s i had to have a D and C which thoses are not to fun! So about 4 or 5 months later i go on clomid again and got pregant agan and as before i went in for a check up at 8 weeks no heart beat again!! so i gave u for about a year and tryed again and i have been taking it for 5 months and i have not been able to get pregant yet!!! But don't give up yet if you have been on clomid for awhile and it has done nothing for you ask your dr about putting you on clomid 250mg and metformin together cause i just found out through a friend that taking thoses together increase the chance of getting pregant and decreases the chance for miscarriges so i have a appt this fri to get put on both so........Good luck to all of us women tryin are best, keep it up and it will happen one day!!!!!!!!!!!

On 50mg clomid days 3-7, I made 3 mature follicles and a bunch of small ones that won't mature. We did timed intercourse after a trigger shot, but not sure if it worked yet. We'll see. From what I read, most doctors will cancel the cycle if there are 4 or more follicles because the risk of multiples is too high.

It depends on the womens body some people get pregnant after the first cycle and some have to up the mg on the clomid. Just be patient and i promise that you will end up prego! good luck to you

After extensive research on Clomid and after having used Clomid for 3 months, there is nothing out there that shows this as a side effect. However, Clomid should be used by women who are NOT ovulating. If you are already ovulating, save yourself the discomfort of the side effects and at the very least, limit your Clomid treatment to 3 months to lower your risk of cysts and cancer. hi i was put on clomid after 3 miss carriage's.i had to take my temperature every morning before getting out of bed to predict ovulation.now these days you can get a ovulation predictor test at any drugstore.i releasted 2 eggs only one took that resulted in my healthy baby girl.i lost the twin.as far as i know clomid can cause multiple births as almost did in my case.it worked for me i'd say your chances of becoming pregnant are great.especially if intercorse takes place around time of ovulation.i'm on my 4th pregnancy now so far have 3 healthy girls.clomid made me fertile mertile.good luck

That is difficult to say. From what I know, and I am not an MD, just well-read, it only increases your chances if that is the dosage that causes you to ovulate successfully. In other words, if 50mg failed to cause ovulation then 100 may work or 150 or even 200. See, it depends on your body's response to the concentration of the drug, which mimics estrogen in your body. One thing I think is that higher doses may very slightly increase your chance for multiple egg release, ergo multiple births, usu. no more than triplets with clomid though.
