How do clownfish mate?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I jus bought two. Mr. And Mrs. Bubbles. Bubba bubbles sleeps right next to his partner lola bubbles. They know when it's night time! First of all your lighting should be on some kind of timer. They need consistent day and night cycles like we do. When my light goes from day to night, they swim to their favorite corner in the front of the tank in the snap of a finger! They point their heads up and their tails in the sand and wiggle all night long. When the light comes back on, boom! They are up and exploring. Also If they are new small adolescent clowns they are always born male and do not choose their sex until they meet a more aggressive partner. During courtship you may see strange sleep patterns.

Does clown fish need oxygen?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Need to find a few simple fish aquarium items to set up a thriving community for the clown fishes. First, pick an appropriate fish tank size. Try to get as big of a fish tank as you can get. The next important thing is to pick a proper size filter. There are many different brands of filters to pick from but the rule of thumb is to get as big of a filter. The aquarium filter system is very essential to the stability and growth of the fish tank. Since clown fish are a saltwater fish, get a really good protein skimmer to keep your water clean. Another important part is the proper aquarium lighting system. Depending on the types of corals kept, go with regular light bulbs or go as complex as metal halides for harder to keep anemones for hosting the clown fish. The aquarium lighting system will also help bring out the vibrant colors of fishes so it's a good idea to invest in a good system.

How do Clownfish get rid of waste?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Jellyfish float along and wait until something floats by that gets caught up in their tentacles. Then their stingers stun the prey and they suck it up into their large stomach area. After they eat, they have to eliminate the waste products. The weird thing about jellyfish is that they expel waste from the same place it came in as food, since their mouth doubles as their waste-disposal system. Jellyfish waste products sink to the bottom of the ocean and help fertilize the ocean floor so that new life can grow there.
