Clownfish belong to the family of fish called Pomacentridae (poma + CENTRI + die/dee), which also includes the damselfish.
Fish of this family typically live in shallow tropical waters, near coral reefs, and are very brightly coloured. During the breeding season, males clear an area for the female to lay her eggs, and then guard that area against predators.
Why do other fish get stung by anemones not clownfish?
because they have a special kind of goo on their skin that keeps them from feeling the sting.
Or a better answer would be. The clown fish will swim around the anemone picking up some of its cells. After a few passes, the clown fish will have enough cells to trick the anemone into thinking that the fish is an anemone itself.
What body structure does a clownfish use to protect itself?
A clown fish has the normal parts most fish have, such as gills, scales, fins, a head, and body with tail. Its body also is covered with mucus that protects it from the sea anemone. The clownfish is orange in color and white large stripes.

Why cant clownfish get stung by anemones?
Clownfish are immune to the stinging cells of anemones due to a unique mucous coating on their skin, which prevents the anemone's nematocysts from firing. Additionally, clownfish engage in a behavior of rubbing against anemones to acclimate and develop this protective mucus layer. This mutualistic relationship benefits both species, providing clownfish with protection from predators and anemones with nutrients from the clownfish's waste.

Do clownfish like to live in saltwater?
yes, it can.. In fact mine is leaving with ayellow tang, clown fish, another tang and a batfish ... Ive had him for almost 1.5 years and yet nothing bad have happened.. At first its a little bit hard to feed since its a slow moving fish, but feeding it frozen food which will spread easily it wont be a problem. Mine swims normally by the fish and eats the food right by the other fish.. This would take some time but it will happen. Unless i got an unshy sea horse and a fast moving one.
