Typical recipe:

* 1 oz. to 1 1/2 oz.vodka in a Highball glass filled with ice. * Fill glass with tomato juice * 1 dash celery salt * 1 dash ground black pepper * 1 dash Tabasco * 2-4 dashes of Lea & Perrin's Worcestershire sauce * 1/8 tsp. horseradish (pure, never creamed) * Dash of lemon or lime juice Garnish with celery stalk. About 4,000 variants of this venerable cocktail exist. Here's one I like that I stole from the Waldorf Hotel in NYC before it closed (maybe :} ): * 2oz Vodka * 1Tbsp fresh lemon juice. * 8-10oz tomato juice -- fresh if possible. * 1-2Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce. * .5tsp Celery Salt * 1-2Tbsp catchup * 1tsp or more Horseradish (not the cream sauce). * Salt and Freshly ground black Pepper to taste * Dash of Tabasco sauce or to taste. Shake all with ice in a real cocktail shaker. Don't even think about blending or stirring. Serve in a large, tall glass. First wet the rim with lemon juice and dip the wet rim in celery salt. Enjoy

The majority of Jose Cuervo tequila is a 51% mixto tequilla meaning only 51% is fermented from the sugars of the Agave plant. The remainder is fermented from other cheaper sugar sources.

Better tequillas are made from 100% Agave plant.

There are over sixty botanicals that may be used in making vermouth, though most brands of vermouth use somewhere between a dozen or two dozen. Some of the most common are orange and lemon peel, wormwood (from with vermouth gets its name), chamomile, lavender, rose petals, cloves. Generally a standard pour is considered to be a 1 and 1/2 ounce pour. This number may vary from one bar to the next however it is commonplace in the united states to pour 1 and 1/2 ounces for a single liquor drink.

A "French Martini" is not a true martini at all, it is simply a cocktail served in a martini glass. It is made by mixing Chambord, Grand Marnier, Soda water & Orange juice in a shaker, then straining the mixture into a martini glass.

1 part Chambord

usually mixes come in two sizes, 1 quart and 2 quart, some may also be 1 gallon (usually commercially sold, not retail). Depending on the mix the usual quantity is 2 parts or 3 parts to one (essentially twice or three times as much mix as liquor).

The typical bottle of liquor is 750 ml, as you mention (this is not a fifth, a fifth is 908 ml, or 1/5 imperial gallon), erroneously referred to as a fifth, meaning approximately 1/5 a US gallon, (actually slightly more). So the amount of mix you would use is about 1 1/2 liters to 2 1/4 liters, for a 750 ml bottle of tequila.

A good margarita recipe not using a mix is 1 ounce tequila, juice of 1/2 a lime, 1/2 ounce simple syrup (50/50 sugar and water). mix the ingredients in a shaker with ice, strain into a salted margarita glass, float a splash of Cointreau on top of the drink and garnish with a twist of lime.

For a frozen margarita two jiggers of mix, 1 shot of tequila mixed with a glass of shaved ice, and a splash of Cointreau.

There are many variables. Different brands have different levels of alcohol content. And the bigger the drink, the more alcohol!
