Why do you not feel sleepy after drinking coffee?

More than likely you have a built immunity to it, when consistently drinking coffee over a period of time you grow immune to the caffeine in it. Same as anything else, you take Tylenol over a period of a few years then you will notice that it doesn't have the same effect as it used to. Let it be known this works for almost anything, Birth control would work the same way since you ingest it over a long time to stop the hormones, the hormones will adapt and will no longer have the effect it once had, and we know the result of that. The human body is an amazing thing when it comes to adaptation of almost anything.

It could also be learning from Social Psychology studies, that extroverts might feel more prone to sleepiness or tiredness after caffeine (stimulant) as extroverts have already a low cortical level in their system. Meaning they often have to go out looking for stimulation due to their low level.

However since coffee is a stimulant, it satisfies/increases this low level coritcal arousel and hence extroverts will feel tired (satisfied) upon drinking the coffee (stimulant).

Introverts on the other hand may feel more excited or stimulated, as at base level compared with extroverts, they already have a higher level or cortical in their system, hence they do not need to seek stimulation.

Therefore the increase intake of stimulant (caffeine) adds to their already high level of cortical arousel which increases activity or makes them more active.

As people diagnosed with ADD (Attentional Deficit Disorder) are given medication with high levels of stimulant to decrease their need for stimulas sensation seeking, which would calm them down.

How much protein is there in coffee?

"shitloads=)" is what someone else answered, but look at the nutrition fact labels....they all list 0g protein on the label. I'm finding, via Internet, that many people think coffee is loaded with protein, but it's not. It doesn't have any at all. Many people add protein powder as creamer. I've never tried it, but sounds like it could be good.

Is coffee irreversible?

The process of coffee cooling down and giving up heat to the environment is irreversible since the available heat in the environment will never re-heat the coffee. I believe the process of mixing coffee grinds with hot water is also irreversible. Theoretically it would be possible but i think you would have to do work on the system to separate the two which would make it irreversible.

What is the difference between coffee and cappucchino?

According to the DeMauro Italian dictionary the correct spelling is caffellatte.

Despite an English-speaking culture misconception, a caffellatte (which they call latte or sometimes latté) is prepared adding steamed milk to an espresso (possibly "ristretto"), making sure that no froth is poured into the coffee. Therefore, the main differences with respect to a cappuccino are that the caffellatte contains more milk and no froth. This is also traditionally served in a tall glass with a steel handle.

How do you make latte?

Being able to make a latte requires practising, fine-tuning & perfection.

1. A critical first step is to ensure that the coffee machine has been heated up to the right temperature. Typically most machines have a light which is switched on when it at the optimum temperature. Ensure that your cup is preheated which can usually be done by placing on the machine tray or pouring boiling water in it for 30 seconds before wiping it.

2. Tuning the grind is very important. For a great production of crema, it comes down to experimenting. First grind it to a coarse batch. If no shot is being produced, reduce the grind so it is finer. Keep adjusting until the extraction comes enough to produce a cream that sits on top.

3. Pour the ground coffee into the portafilter so that it is completely filled.

4. Ensure that there is no old ground coffee stuck to the filter where the boiling water is driving out of the espresso machine. This can be done by pressing down on the extraction button on the machine for 2-3 seconds. Next you must quickly insert the portafilter into the espresso machine and press the extraction button.

5. The next step is to place the steam wand approx. 2cm in from jug and no more than 1cm beneath the surface of the jug. Turn the steam wand on and adjust the jug with you hand until you hear the milk "hissing" or in other words expanding. When the milk begins to expand, it must be going in a counter clockwise motion around the jug allowing small bubbles to form.

6. After stopping the steam, place the milk jug on a bench and use a wet cloth to clean the wand. Next you must bang the jug onto the bench several times which allows the bubbles to rise to the top of the jug. Swirl the milk vigorously for 30 seconds in a clockwise motion and further bang the jug onto the bench until there a no bubbles remaining.

Does tea expire once its been brewed?

Tea, whether loose-leaf, or in tea bags, loses its flavor slowly over time, and in some rare cases, can spoil or develop "off" qualities in the aroma or flavor. The rate at which this happens depends on how the tea is stored, and what variety it is. Many tea retailers overstate the degree to which tea loses its flavor, because they have an interest in continually selling their product. Most stale tea becomes somewhat bland but is still perfectly drinkable.

The aroma chemicals in tea are volatile and will escape into the air if the tea is not stored in an airtight container. For most teas, then, it is best to store the tea in an airtight container. The tea must be completely dry, or else it can mold, causing the tea to spoil.

Tea should also be stored away from light. The best way to accomplish this is to store the tea in metal tins. If you store your tea in glass jars or other containers that let light through, keep them in a closed cupboard.

One exception to these recommendations are aged teas or teas that you plan on aging. These include Pu-erh tea, and a few other types of tea. These teas are generally stored in a porous container, like a ceramic jar, in a dark, dry area away from other smells or aromas. They have active bacterial and mold cultures that enhance the quality of the tea if it is stored properly.
