The perceived acidity of coffee results from the proton donation of acids to receptors on the human tongue. Coffee acidity is typically a highly valued quality especially in Central American and some East African coffee. Sourness, however, is an extreme of acidity and can be considered a coffee defect. Acidity has been correlated with coffees grown at very high altitudes and in mineral rich volcanic soils. The perceived acidity of washed coffees is also significantly higher than the acidity found in naturally (dry) processed coffee. This is likely due to an increase in the body of naturally processed coffees relative to wet processed coffees since body masks the acidity in coffee. The coffee acid content in a brew is also greatly dependent upon the coffee roasting degree, type of roaster, and coffee brewing method.
The pH of a coffee has been found to correlate with the perceived acidity in coffee by Pangborn, Sivetz and Desrosier, and Griffin and Blauch; whereas Voilley et al. suggests that titratable acidity produces a better correlation to perceived coffee acidity.
The acids found in roasted coffee may be classified into three groups: aliphatic, chlorogenic, and alicyclic carboxylic and phenolic acids (Clarke, 25). Table 1 shows the main acids that have been reported in coffee.
I done this for homework and i got an A*
Why are coffee mugs bigger on the top?
They don't have to be. It's a matter of design.
A lot of mugs are the same size from bottom to top and a few are actually wider at the bottom.
Having it wider at the top allows for easier emptying of the mug - it shouldn't have to be tipped so high to drain it and one can drink from it without dipping their nose into the beverage if the mug was overfilled. And it probably releases from the molds better.
The wide-base models tend to be for travel or boats because they provide more stability.

Did Starbucks refuse to give military coffee?
Subject: Starbucks
You would think that businesses like this would support our troops, but i guess not, kind of selfish of them
Recently Marines in Iraq wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to
let them know how much they liked their coffees and to request that they
send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines
thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does
nots support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send
the troops their brand of coffee.
So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should not support them by
buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I
know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that
doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground fighting
street -to-street and house-to-house.
If you feel the same as I do then pass this along.
Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I
deploy once more.

Does making a cup of coffee involve dissolving?
Yes it dissolves in water and if you want the further explaination i haveb written it down.
Coffee beans do not exactly "dissolve" in hot water. That is an oversimplification. We make coffee by a process called leaching. Which is essentially the selective dissolution of chemical compounds from a solid phase into a solvent.
When we make coffee, we dissolve a variety of chemicals responsible for flavors, colors, aromas, and stimulants (caffeine) into water. The relative amounts of the dissolved compounds dissolved depend on the contact area, the concentration gradient of chemicals between water and beans, the rate of liquid flow, the temperature of liquid, and even the pressure of the liquid and is a rather complicated process to model.
All that said, to answer your question, as temperature of the water increases, the solubility of the coffee bean chemicals in water increases which increases the driving force for transfer from bean to water.

Why do you not feel sleepy after drinking coffee?
More than likely you have a built immunity to it, when consistently drinking coffee over a period of time you grow immune to the caffeine in it. Same as anything else, you take Tylenol over a period of a few years then you will notice that it doesn't have the same effect as it used to. Let it be known this works for almost anything, Birth control would work the same way since you ingest it over a long time to stop the hormones, the hormones will adapt and will no longer have the effect it once had, and we know the result of that. The human body is an amazing thing when it comes to adaptation of almost anything.
It could also be learning from Social Psychology studies, that extroverts might feel more prone to sleepiness or tiredness after caffeine (stimulant) as extroverts have already a low cortical level in their system. Meaning they often have to go out looking for stimulation due to their low level.
However since coffee is a stimulant, it satisfies/increases this low level coritcal arousel and hence extroverts will feel tired (satisfied) upon drinking the coffee (stimulant).
Introverts on the other hand may feel more excited or stimulated, as at base level compared with extroverts, they already have a higher level or cortical in their system, hence they do not need to seek stimulation.
Therefore the increase intake of stimulant (caffeine) adds to their already high level of cortical arousel which increases activity or makes them more active.
As people diagnosed with ADD (Attentional Deficit Disorder) are given medication with high levels of stimulant to decrease their need for stimulas sensation seeking, which would calm them down.
