The history of coffee goes at least as far back as the thirteenth century.

It has been believed that Ethiopian ancestors of today's Oromo people were the first to discover and recognize the energizing effect of the coffee bean plant.

The story of Kaldi, the 9th-century Ethiopian goatherd who discovered coffee, did not appear in writing until 1671 AD and is probably apocryphal.

From Ethiopia, coffee was said to have spread to Egypt and Yemen.

The earliest credible evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears in the middle of the fifteenth century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen.

By the 16th century, it had reached the rest of the Middle East, Persia, Turkey, and northern Africa. Coffee then spread to Italy, and to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia, and to the Americas.

Coffee (or Coffea amicante) is a beverage brewed from the leaves of the cafe plant (Coffeabile amicantosa), which beverage plays a significant role in a popular Western social ritual. This ritual, which takes places at Kaffeetreffenundgrussenhauses (often shortened to "coffee houses"), has as its goal the beginning or strengthening of friendships. It is a common misconception that the coffee beverage is actually consumed as part of this ritual. However, it is not, as coffee is actually mildly toxic. The purchase of the beverages merely serves a symbolic role -- the more wealthy a participant is, the more syllables he will utter when ordering his drink, and therefore the more expensive the drink will be. Having established their relative class statuses, the two participants will then sit down at a table, their drinks sitting between them. At this point, the role of the drinks is complete, and they merely sit there, cooling, for the remainder of the ritual, which is outside the scope of this answer.

However, in recent years, genetic mutations have occurred in a large part of the population which allow people to consume coffee without entering into, and dying of, amygdalic shock. It is not known if these mutations are caused by cellphone usage or not. That some people are able to tolerate this beverage, however, does not mean that it is advisable to drink it. At least not from Starbucks. They char the heck out of that crap. Gross.

The principal ingredients in all of these nondairy creamers are sugars and vegetable oils. The three brands contain partially hydrogenated oils loaded with trans fats. The Coffee-mate label indicates the oil could be any of the following: coconut, palm kernel, soybean, cottonseed, or safflower. The sugars are a combination of corn syrup, maltodextrin, and sugar.

All three brands contain sodium caseinate. The sodium caseinate's purpose is to provide a hint of dairy flavor as well as to create a thickening and whitening for a creamy look and feel. Sodium caseinate is obtained from fresh and pasteurized skim milk by acid coagulation of the casein, neutralization with sodium hydroxide, and drying in a spray dryer.

Common among the nondairy creamers is dipotassium phosphate (a powder used to moderate coffee acidity), mono and diglycerides (to prevent oil separation), and natural and artificial flavors and colors.

Those seeking a vegan non-dairy creamer that is "truly" without milk derivatives could find two soy-based brands on the shelves of health food stores or large supermarkets with health food sections.

Coffee probably originated in Ethiopia. It was likely discovered by pastoralists in the area who would chew it for the caffeine. Coffee was brewed throughout the Arab world during the dark ages in Europe, so it has been around for a long time.

Coffeehouses in the 1790's were all the rage. It was a place where you could conduct business, talk politics, and catch up on the news of the day. Owning and running coffeehouses was considered a respectable business for a widow. Usually pastries and coffee/tea were served here.

Nescafe is soluble coffee, introduced in Swithzerland in April 1930. The first NESCAFÉ was a powder produced by spray drying. It is still spray dried today but is processed further into granules.

Your kidneys filter waste products out of what you eat and drink, and they filter your blood. So I drank a lot of cranberry juice once (32 oz. before a medical test) and afterwards my urine smelled like cranberry juice. So I guess this is just a common thing, that what you drink, especially if it has a strong odor, can cause your urine to have that same odor. Even modest doses of coffee can have this effect, whether or not the body is ready to dispose of the feces, resulting in loose stools. Studies show that decaffeinated coffee has a similar stimulant effect on the GI tract proving that the laxative effect is not only due to caffeine. although caffeine (found in coffee) is often said to be a diuretic, this is not strictly true. It is likely that the apparent diuretic effect is actually caused by increased blood pressure (another effect of caffeine)
