Can having the stomach flu cause weight loss?
Temporarily, yes, but this is mainly due to fluid loss and dehydration.
Influenza is contagious when droplets containing the virus are coughed or sneezed into the air by an infected person and then inhaled by another person. The virus can also be passed along by hand or other physical contact between two people. Contagion is minimized by people who avoid coughing or sneezing directly at others, and who sanitize their hands before touching their nose or mouth if there is a possibility that their hands may have virus on them.
Can a patient positive for influenza receive the flu vaccine?
Vaccination is only a preventative measure, it will not cure influenza.
How high is too high of a fever for a 13 year old?
102 Degree F. (around 38.9 C) is usually the highest a fever in anyone should go, regardless of age (and including 13 year olds), without making contact with a health care professional, especially if the symptoms are continuing to progress or there are other problems with breathing, swelling, vomiting, ears, etc.
Even slight fevers in children and infants could mean there is a serious infection, so they should have temperature checks frequently when they are sick (at least every 2 hours at first). Sometimes newborn infants will also have low body temperatures with infections, so you do need to watch for other signs that they are ill.
But it isn't usually necessary to treat adults until the temperature goes beyond 102 F. A fever in an adult that is 103 F (39.4 C) is the point where you usually need to consult a doctor. Above 103 F in adults, you should contact your doctor or go to the emergency room if you are unable to reach the doctor promptly.
Unless you are instructed to use them by a medical professional, don't use any medications for a temperature under 102 F in adults. Your doctor may suggest taking an over-the-counter medication, such as acetaminophen (e.g., Tylenol) or ibuprofen (e.g., Advil, Motrin) for elevated temperatures that go over 102 F. Don't give Ibuprofen to infants under 6 months. And don't give aspirin to anyone under 18. Aspirin can cause Reye's Syndrome, a very serious and potentially fatal condition, when used by children and teens. You can also talk to your pharmacist for suggestions to help fevers, if under 102 F.
Fever with an infection is an important symptom that actually is being produced by your body to help kill germs and warn you of the problem. That is one reason why you have that reaction to infections. However, fever isn't only caused by infections, it can be caused by different diseases and conditions and that is why contacting your physician for fevers close to 103 in adults is important.
If allowed to go to 104 F (40 C) or above, you are risking serious consequences if you don't seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Is it ok to take Vicodin while you have the flu?
Yes. The Vicodin has acetaminophen in it, which is a fever reducer. It can help with the body aches and it has cough suppressant qualities in it.
As with any medication, you should only take it under the supervision of a physician and should never mix it with other drugs without consulting your doctor.
Can marijuana help the flu bug?

What happens if you blow into a baby's nose is it harmful?
Yes, put you mouth over your baby's mouth and then blow gently. You will probably only have to blow once and wipe the mucus from his nose! This really worked for my son who is a week shy of turning 4 months. He got the cold for the first time and was so congested that he could not eat. The mucus remover seems to irritate his nose with so many tries to remove the snot. One blow cleared his nose, he ate and now is sleeping peacefully. Hope this helps! Again don't blow too hard!
Well oviously because more teenage girls these days are getting pregnant.
What causes colds and the flu?
Both are caused by viruses - the common cold family of viruses (rhinoviruses and coranaviruses), and the influenza family of viruses (Orthomyxoviridae).
Both viruses are primarily via airborne droplet, but transmission via infected surfaces is also possible (but much less likely). They tend to enter through compromised mucus membrane tissue, as is common in dried-out nasal passages, or through inhalation. Virtually all infection is through the eyes, nose, or mouth. Thus, touching an infected surface then rubbing the eyes or nose is an excellent method contracting them, as is being sneezed or coughed upon by an infected individual.
Colds and flu do not affect the sperm. It could certainly be passed to the spouse where it could be an issue, but it won't affect the fertilization.
If you get cold and cough every month what does it mean?
Catching viruses often can indicate lowered immunity. Please exercise regularly and incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into your daily diet. Don't forget to enjoy life, laugh often and try to maintain healthy relationships.
Hi, my kitten just died of cat flu, and I was so sad so here's some tips about it.
Symptoms,
. Blocked and runny nose
. Gummed up eyes
. Loss of eyes
. Listlessness
. Depression
. Loss of appetite
and in some cases,
. Mouth ulcers
. Ulcers under the eyes
There isn't exactly a medical cure, as it is a viral infection and you cannot cure it with basic medicine though you can get it immunised from it when it is fully recovered which can take a while. My kitten was acting very listless and tired so I was pretty worried and I took it to the vet straight away the next morning and the vet immediately diagnosed it as cat flu since it was dehydrated the kitten had to get fluids injected into it which helped a lot we were also given a syringe to feed it with but we found a bottle worked better. The vet gave us eye drops, as it's eyes were very gummed up, antibiotics and told us to wash it's nose and eyes every hour or so to make sure it's nose wasn't blocked and the kitten could smell it's food. Cat flu isn't easy to cure and it will take a while but my advice would be to keep it very warm, put a hot water bottle under it's bed and if your cat/kitten is young try and buy a set with kitten powder milk and a bottle and the kitten will feed off that because if the kitten has cat flu, the mother more than likely will not be feeding it. Wash it's nose frequently because with a blocked nose the kittens not going to be able to smell and therefore the cat will take a total dis interest in it's food and won't eat. They are the basic ways to cure it, but if you are doing all these things and you still find the kitten isn't getting any better, take it to your vet ASAP.
Immunity via the production of long lived memory lymphocyte cells in the immune system.
