Boston University defeated Boston College 4-1 to win the 1986 Beanpot
The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) began as a men's collegiate hockey league in 1991, and quickly grew to a league of over 150 teams in three men's divisions. The Women's Division 2 was added in 2006, and the ACHA currently boasts five divisions with over 375 teams from across the nation. Colleges are adding and dropping men's and women's teams each year so a specific number currently is unreliable. Just over 375 teams is a solid answer.
Boston College beat Harvard 3-1 to win the 11th Beanpot in 1963.
