A printer that produces continuous-tone images that look like photographic film. Also called a "thermal dye printer," the print cartridge contains a cellophane ribbon with panels of dye the same size as the page to be printed. There are four panels for each print: one each of cyan, magenta and yellow (CMY) and a final clear coat that allows the print to be handled immediately without smudging. Special dye-receptive paper is used.

Because the same amount of ribbon is used no matter how much color is in the image, the cost of ribbon and paper is always the same per print. Consumables for dye sublimation printers generally cost more than for inkjet printers.

A printer, in computer terminology, is a device that modifies a medium with a design specified by the user. Traditional printers were responsible for printing copies of documents stored in computer files onto paper, usually for distribution. A variety of printers exist today that can print text and images to normal, photographic, and specialty paper, as well as printers capable of rendering objects out of plastic or metal based on 3D models. A printer's primary duty is to make a physical copy of a digital file for the user.

A Toner Cartridge holds toner and dispenses it as needed to make copies (in a copier) or to print pages (in a printer).

Another element in xerographic copiers is the photoreceptor drum. This is the surface to which the toner adheres before being transfered to the paper. The photoreceptor has a long but finite useful lifetime and must be replaced occasionally. Some copiers/printers have drum cartridges which can be changed out by the user. The alternative would be to have a service person open the machine and replace the photoreceptor drum.

So, a drum cartridge alows the user to replace the photoreceptor drum and a toner cartridge allows the user to replenish toner supplies, both easier than before cartridges were developed for this purpose.

Go in the printer's properties and choose share printer. In allowed users choose "Everyone". If you want everything works without problems you need to set all computers going to share the printer to the same workgroup.

Send the print job again. If that fails to work, turn the printer off and back on, then resend the print job. If the problem still exists, reinstall or upgrade the print driver.

300 DPI is a very low resolutioe resolution rating. If this is the maximum resolution for the laser printer that you are looking at, do not buy it if you need sharp (or even acceptable quality) graphics. 300 DPI is the lowest common printing resolution, and dots are easily seen when looking at an image printed. Most laser printers, however have a 300 DPI setting, along with 600 and 1,200 DPI resolutions. The resolution of a laser printer does not matter if you plan on only printing black text, as resolution does not matter in this case.

photo black ink is more expensive

The barebones kernel probably does not, but the whole OS (like Windows or Ubuntu) does.
