How did the Fall of Tenochtitlan change the Americas?
The fall of Tenochtitlan was one of several turnings points for the Spaniards being able to maintain forces in Central America. Because the Spaniards were able to conquer Tenochtitlan (and later, other South American cities/countries), an entire culture slowly started to fade. The Spanish language and Spanish customs soon quickly became the prevailing language/culture in Central America. Not only that, but Christianity was introduced to the Natives.
Today, while many Indian Languages do exist, as the youth try to assimilate into the Spanish culture, they are slowly leaving that life behind them. In a few more generations, it is highly likely that many of these languages will be extinct and near-forgotten.

Should spanish conquistadors be considered villains or heroes for their actions?
Answer 1
Villains, because against the Native Americans there was deadly impact.
Answer 2
There is always a question of morality for the times and a question of morality as we understand it today.
At the time, the acts of the Conquistadors where a huge gamble. This concerns the acquisition of ships, arms, and countrymen being a difficult feat and this does not take into account getting around in the wilderness without losing your head to tropical diseases and wild animals. As such the successful Conquistador performed a grand service in extending the Empire of his fatherland. Spain's ascendancy in the 16th century was due primarily to conquests made in Latin America.
Of course, in the modern era, we recognize that the ideas of imperialism, conquest, subjugation, enslavement (or vast impoverishing of populations to create endless servitude), and land acquisition are grave wrongs. The Conquistadors savagely disrupted and destroyed entire Empires and lowly tribes in pursuit of riches and glory. Forced conversions robbed many Native Americans of the birthright of their religion.
It is up to each person to judge the morality of the Conquistadors.

The Totonacas Indians were a tribe that were unhappy subjects of the Aztec Empire under Tenochtitlan. They attempted to go with the Spaniards, and recruit other subject people to join them in the overthrow of the Aztecs. However, when the group came to the Tlaxcan territory, 30,000 of them attacked the Spanish group. However, their fight against an obviously more numerous army impressed the chief who offered them hospitality. The Spaniards also had to fight the Tabasco tribe, but after making peace, Cortes was given an Indian princess, who was Aztec, her translation and information on the Aztec Kingdom was helpful in the Spanish overthrowing the empire.
