How long will you go to jail for if you're housing a run away?
There are too many unknown aspects to this question to answer it correctly. Is the subject a runaway or a fugitive? What is your relationship to this person? Are you an adult? Is the 'runaway" a minor? What sex is the runaway? Why are you housing the individual? Is sex involved? All these factors must be known before any realistic answer can be given.
How much time will you do on a 10 year federal sentence?
You do not do 80% of the time in a Texas prison unless its a federal charge in a texas located Federal prison. In TDCJ an inmate serves 25% of their sentence in non aggrevated offenses, and usually about 50% on aggrevated offenses. This just means the person is eligible for parole at 25% and 50% of the time, respectively. The time is also calculated by actual days served plus good time. So if you have all good time, parole eligibility is actually at around 15% of the sentence. Most people do not make their first parole though, so I would not expect a person with a 10 year sentence to make it out in 15 months. Realistically from what I understand, if non aggrevated a 10 year sentence would most likely do around 3-4 years. Hope that helps

Can Rae Carruth get out early on good behavior?
Yes! And he has been pretty good in prison. The last time he got in trouble was in 2004 for fighting with another inmate. He got into another fight with an inmate over a pen and was written up for throwing the first punch. A few punches was thrown between Carruth and the fellow inmate. Rae was send to solitary confinement for 20 days but was released due to overcrowding. Other than that he's very low-key and hasn't been much of a trouble maker since. His PRD (projected release date) is October 2018, but he could be out in March 2016. Hope that helps. :)

Does punishment prevent crime?
Look at what the sheriff in Phoenix Az. has done. Take all the resort type life away from the convicts. Leave them in the heat and cold . And let them know every day why they are there. Clean out death row exacute all of those that have been put there for that reason. Don`t keep feeding and clothing them. One appeal is enough to prove if they are guilty or not. Then in 30 days carry out the sentence that was given to them.
The prison system in Arkansas used to have to raise the food stuff in the prison system. I remember when I was a teenager going by the prison and seeing white uniforms all out in the fields when it was light enough to see what you were doing. And they would be out there all day. But now when the temperature gets 80 degrees they are loaded on an air conditioned bus and taken back to the barracks in the cool.
I asked my boss one time when it got 90 degrees if I could go inside to sit in the cool I was told I could go home and then find a new job. Or get out there and get the job done like I was hired to do. Now that was not fair to me, or I didn`t think it was. Having to work in the heat while the prisoners were sitting in air conditioning and not earning their keep.
But there are too many soft hearted people out in the world that don`t think a convict should have to do anything, but set around in the law library filling out law suits that don`t really mean a thing. Just wasting more tax payers money. Put that chain gang back in action and put them off of their lazy behinds and out duing a lot of work everyday. Five and one half days a week.
