The light come on when the system detects a problem and sets a trouble code. You should have it diagnosed by a trained technician. The airbag system is not for do it yourselfers.
The light is on because there is a problem with the air bag system. When the air bag light is on the system is not working and will not deploy in the event of an accident. When the air bag light is on the system has set a code(s) in the computer A scanning device can retrieve the code(s). The code(s) will give you a clue where the problem is. Many auto parts stores will read the code(s) from your vehicles computer for zip if you purchase the parts necessary to repair the vehicle from them.
you have a false signal coming from the sensor harnes.
It means there is an issue with your airbag. You should have it diagnosed and repaired.
If the air bag light is coming on then you have a problem with the SRS. Seek professional help.
On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for @6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident.
Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) and some require a scan tool.
SRS ( supplement restraint system)if your light is on while driving, it means there is a malfunction in the system somewhere, which you should have checked
The light comes on because the airbag computer has detected a malfunction. You need to have the system checked for codes with a scan tool. You then need to have the cause repaired by a trained technician. The airbag system is not a safe place for do it you selfers.
Either the bags have been deployed or there is a problem with the computer/sensorzperiodz
If it's the computer/sensor the bags won't deploy. get this checked out!
If the air bag light comes on and stays on it is telling you there is a problem with the system and the air bag(s) is disabled. Until the problem is fixed the light will remain on.
I disagree there is a reset for the airbag module, as I will explain, however, it is true that the system has detected some kind of fault. It is our experience, that (some times)even if you fix the problem the light may not turn off. For example, if the error somehow simulated a crash sequence the error code will be reflected in the control module and the light will not clear. You can however, with the right type of technology, clear even hard codes written to the module. We do this every day. See reset airbag module link
You need to go to a dealership or service station to have them look at this. If your air bag light is staying off after you've started your car (should illuminate for just a second or two), you need to have the system checked. Check the fuse chart in your manual. At least for '94 Dodge Caravan, if air bag light is on and the horn doesn't work, the problem is the clockspring. If the air bag light stays on and the rear window wiper doesn't work, it's fuse #13. Check this out before spending $$ at dealership.
Most of the time is caused by a bad clockspring or its connector for the air bag has come undone. It can be caused by a bad air bag cotrol unit, but this usually doesnt happen unless the bags have been deployed. Not always though. Hope this helps. It usually indicates a problem with the airbag system. It is NOT recommended to service the system. Have a professional do it.
When the clock spring breaks the air bag light stays on,the horn and cruse control don't work. This is a recall item on many models repaired at no cost to the owner.
If the symbol resembles a a U with an exclamation point and there are square ridges on the bottom of the U that means you have Low Tire Pressure. If the symbol is a complete circle and resembles a sun with an exclamation point in the center it means it is a exterior light that has burned out.
All these warning lights & symbols are illustrated and explained in the Owners Manual.
See "Related Question" for a handy pdf version of any Owners Manual from 1996 on.
I pretty sure it doesn't have a speedometer cable, it is electronic.
Yellow triangle is the traction control light, It comes on( flashes) if you get wheelspin, like on an M# in the rain;). It will stay on if you turn DSC off, or if you have a wheel speed sensor problem(asb light would also be on)
The exclamation mark almost always indicates factorial, i.e. n! = 1*2*3*...*n. Therefore 4! would be 1*2*3*4 = 24. Additionally, the exclamation mark can indicate negation, e.g. in computer programming and logic.
IT VARIES BUT AT LEAST 25PSI IDLE 50PSI AND UP HIGHWAYAnswerAround 50psi. Answerrealy it depends on the car what type of oil pump is installed but at idle less then 10psi is normally not to good and highway 40 to 50 is great Answeroil pressure is normally at least 20psi idle and should be 40psi or more above 2000rpm. Answer10 p.s.i. for every 1000 r.p.m. is the general rule.
That the engine is running in MDS mode.
ck transmission gear selector on transmission. follow cable from shifter to (usually) top of trans. it is electronic
it could have to do with the preasure systems. or your gears may be grinding. go to your machanic and check it out :p
Tachometers are instruments which are used to determing the speed at which something is turning [usually measured/indicated in Revolutions per minute]. There are many different tachs that accomplish this in several different ways. The tach that uses a "generator" is basically a voltmeter for the "read out," and a generator that creates a small electrical output which when supplied to [and properly calibrated to] the read out voltmeter guage, gives an indication of the Rpm of the shaft to which the generator is attached.

when it gets dark and my headlights and tail lights come on fully i have NO Instruments lights and I loose the lighting on my radio.. I have checked a number of different fuses. where else can i look to fix this problem? could it be a bad relay? someone please help.
To find out what is wrong with it you will have to take it to a repair shop or the ford dealer with a computer to hook it up, but the engine light being on something is wrong with the car, it kinda sounds like a ingition coil pack going out, if so it will only get worse and could also be many other little things, but it must be repaired before the light will go off, and needs to be repairs ASAP so it doesnt cause anymore damage, that is why the light came on is for it to be serviced and repairs ASAP.
I have the same problem with a 2001 LS V8 sport. They diagnosed this earlier this year when I felt a subtle pulsing in the car during heavy acceleration. They said they must change both according to Lincoln service number SSM 512 481 091 and replace BOTH pumps (which shocked me to find there was two). They listed the pumps as YW42-9275-BC and YW42-9H307-BA. Apparently these cross reference to part number E2274M from Airtex but I'll know more soon as it is on order from my local jobber. I do know that if you order a 'pump' from A/C number MU2013 you will get a sender unit only which is listed improperly (and probably why the Airtex costs about 25% more). One other item the dealer replaced on my LS was the Idle solonoid but that shouldn't impact the car while driving, just while idling.
Sounds like the alternater is on it's way. I will add something to this. I messed with a couple of alternator replacements but the last time the warning lights started coming on, I pulled the plug out of the alternator and gave the contacts a good cleaning both on the wiring harness plug and the socket of the alternator. You don't have to pull the alt to do this (at least on the '90s pickup) although it is hard to get that dude out of there. Anyway, no more problems. Actually, I have found on Toyota and Nissan both that anytime a warning light comes on it is very prudent to disconnect the suspected part (sensor, sender etc.) and make sure those contacts are clean. This has saved me buying and replacing a Nissan alt, a Toyota A/C compressor and a couple of O2 sensors on my personal vehicles and the advice has saved a few friends some expensive repairs too. Definitely worth the cost of some contact cleaner from Radio Shack or the parts store and the little labor to disconnect and clean the connectors.

Call your local Ford dealer's service department, and ask a service adviser what this might possibly be. Without other information here on the color of the lamp blinking and what other indicators surround this one, it will be quite difficult to diagnose your problem here. If you go to ford.com, and flow the links, you can download a copy of your manuals. User Guide, recommended maintenance, etc... This icon will illuminate if the fuel filler cap is not installed or properly seated. According to the illustrations in the Owners Manual (See "Related Questions" below), the 'icon' for low fuel looks like a gasoline pump.
your engine could be low on oil.
The engine shaped dash warning icon/symbol represents the "Check Engine Light", CEL for short.
See "Related Questions" below for more about what cause the CEL and how to respond to it.
The maintenance light,You will need to take it to a Dodge dealer to reset it. Or get a DBR-2 code scanner.BIG $$$
Its EASY! just connect the (usually green) wire to the negative post on the coil. Hook up the power wires and the illumination wire and ground for the tach wire and ur done its easy!
This entirely depends on the vehicle and the type of tach your referring to such as a add on tach or an OEM in dash tach. To explain how to install and OEM tach would take far to long. I would suggest a add on tach that mounts basically where ever you want to mount it. Most of these tachs explain the installation instructions. I personally recommend a tach by Autometer you can view their products on the web at the link below. , EzForJesus
check your fuses, your owners manual will tell you the location of the fuse.
ABS: Antilock Brake System (or Anti-locking Brake System) - enables you to steer whilst keeping the brake pedal full on. Can be felt as a vibration through the pedal when it cuts in. Also useful in stopping in a straight line if one side is on slippery stuff and the other on grippy stuff (non-ABS will tend to spin). EBD: Electronic Brake Distribution (or Electronic Brake-force Distributor) - alters how much of the brake force goes to the front and how much to the rear. Cars always have more braking on front as if the rears lock before the front then the car will spin. How much braking you can do with the rears depends on how much weight is in the vehicle so EBD dynamically adjusts this balance. Without it, the manufacturer sets up the balance so the rears don't lock when the vehicle is empty which is less braking than is possible when the vehicle is full. EPS: Electronic Power Steering - enables the amount of assistance with steering to be varied depending on speed and how much you turn the wheel. This means it can give lots of boost when parking the car whilst still giving you a good feel for the road at speed. As this was asked along with ABS and EBD, I think it might actually be ESP which is asked about. ESP: Electronic Stability Program - senses when the car is about to go out of control and can apply an individual brake to a wheel to help avoid the spin. Will not totally prevent the spin but means that it takes more to lose control. Often also used to give traction control where brakes may be applied if a wheel begins to spin due to too much power for the grip. N.B. many cars have TCS (Traction Control System) without having ESP.
It means something is wrong with the brake system. Check fluid level first; if it is low, refill it and test the brakes again. Also check that your emergincy brake is fully released. Be sure the parking brake pedal (if it is a push one) is all the way up. Either way, don't delay getting it checked soon.Answer
Have you checked to see if you are out of brake fluid?
If is a Honda Accord 1992 2 door, you may need to check for bad bulbs/loose connections.Answer
The brake light in my car can come on if the parking brake pedal does not come up all the way when I release it. One of the cables going to the rear drums has rust in it causing it to bind and not release all the way.
It may indicate that brake system hydraulic pressure is too low to safely stop the car.
If the light is on all the time, ensure that the parking/emergency brake is fully released. If the light only comes on when you press down on the brake pedal, check to ensure that you have the proper level of brake fluid in the reservoir and that you have no air in your brake lines. You may need to bleed the air from the brake lines.
Check the brake light bulbs to ensure that all of them are working. Some cars can sense a bad bulb and notify the driver by illuminating the brake warning light.
