Why do embedded devices not have a secondary storage?
While most embedded systems computers are not equipped with secondary storage, there are some that do have secondary storage. Such secondary storage when present is usually some kind of nonremovable Flash drive (although sometimes the Flash drive is removable, e.g. SDHC card).
The reason most embedded systems computers are not equipped with secondary storage is that the application code is relatively small and no updates are expected to be needed, also the size of RAM is predetermined and the program must run in realtime so the use of virtual memory on disk is not desirable as it can produce unpredictable delays resulting in missing of realtime deadlines.

What is the Advantages of OLAP?
The primary advantage of OLAP data storage is better performance for accessing multidimensional data. OLAP systems are also accompanied by calculation engines and data manipulation languages. So a second advantage is that it gives analytical capabilities that are not in SQL or are more difficult to obtain. Finally, if you know how to use it, it is easier to work with multidimensional data in a multidimensional system. There are no table joins, storage is set up to include aggregates along with leaf level data, data is articulated in terms of functional categories (rather than rows and columns, or integer indexes), and so on. This is discussed in, The Multidimensional Data Modeling Toolkit, if you want more information.

An optical storage device is an electro-mechanical unit that can save and retrieve (write and read) information on a special disc medium using a laser light. Optical drives are designed to work with several types of media: CDs ("compact disc"), DVDs (digital versatile disc" or "digital video disc") and Blu-ray discs.
It's your internal Hard Drive or the amount of space partitioned for your operating system on that hard drive
What is the safest secured trusted most realible storage system for digital media?
Answer: While opinions can vary, most experts believe that the 'safest' storage medium is a solid state media such as an SD card. These have no moving parts and would not be subject to the same deterioration or wear and tear as writable DVDs or hard disk drives.

Is a Pen or Thumb Drive the best secondary storage device?
The best secondary storage device that I have found is a Desktop External Drive. They are USB run and can easily be connected to the computer or disconnected. Pen or Thumb Drives do not have a large amount of space, like External Drives have, and Thumbs can be easily lost.
