If you are known to be outgoing and daring, then the guys will find it totally normal for you to dress in shorts and stuff. On the other hand, if you are known to be shy and quiet, then the guys will probably know that your trying to impress someone if your dressing like the outgoing kids. Your best friend was a jerk seeing her unless he knew you didn't want her back. The girl is just as bad for dating your best friend because she knew it would hurt you. Do you really want a girl who would be that mean?
