Suggest entering the search word - match adapter to laptop - on google. I found a place that's an adapter outlet using that search term. They make the adapters and chargers with much longer warranties, like 2 years. Just can't remember the name of the place. Good luck.

If you use multiple laptops, it's likely that a universal charger would better suit you as well. You may want to consider getting one of these, although avoid shpos like Currys or PC World where good chargers can cost upwards of £80/£90. I'd recommend doing a quick search for Imperial Gadgets which is where I got mine, but I'm sure there are other good shops flying about as well.

If you're not the masochistic type and can spare the extra dollar, you might want to look at the MacBook Air, which is quite powerful, elegant and you don't need to mess around with Windows - if you don't want to. If you're into small and cheap, you should have a look at the Acer Aspire One. Finally, if you like your Notebook to be rather robust and timeless in design, have a look at Lenovo's Thinkpads.

The first thing I would try is to hold down the menu button for 15 seconds. This should work but if it doesn't then try this:

* Turn the computer and monitor off

* Disconnect all monitor cabling from the monitor (power, USB, VGA, DVI, etc.)

* Press and hold in the monitor power button in for 5 seconds

* Reconnect the monitor to the computer

* Reconnect the monitor power cord to the monitor

* Turn on the monitor, then the computer

* Press the Menu button for 15 seconds to unlock the padlock feature
