Also it depends on what you're doing with your pc .If it's for gaming I would get the 1545 but for office work, since you don't need the extra processing speed, you could get the G61 and save some money.

The Dell has a better processor, and the Sony has a better graphics card. The Sony has higher screen resolution but has a lower hard drive speed.
i5 is a certainly faster processor, and if you're not going to use your laptop for games, I recommend the Dell. But if you do play video games on your PC or you plan to, I recommend the SONY. the Dell could handle even nearly all new games, but the Sony would be better for gaming.
Also, I don't know about Sony's pricing policies in India, but here in Canada, Sony tends to charge a fair amount of money only for their brand...

A Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop computer can be purchased new and used from Amazon. It is the same as the Dell Inspiron 640M which can also be found new and used at eBay. Dell does not currently have either model in production.

Actually it always depends on price the features of a laptop, but I think that Alienware laptops are the fastest, and they are all suited for hardcore gaming. I would say that most of the Dell Inspiron models are only in the midclass in performance. To my knowing for 3000 bucks you can buy High-end Alienware laptop which will run anything you can throw a it. I will put an example link of an Alienware laptop, if you don't know how it looks.

Serious problem. Or maybe not. Most laptops will auto-shutdown if they get too hot, to prevent damage to the CPU chip. So if it's still shutting down, it hasn't lost it's mind -- yet.

First thing, is it sitting on a blanket or pillow? Make sure the bottom of the laptop is not blocked, that there is free-flow of air underneath, and in the direction of the exhaust fan.

Make sure the fan vents are not plugged with dust. This is especially true if the laptop has been exposed to cigarette smoke (kills PCs faster than it does people), very high humidity, lots of dust, etc.

Get a can of compressed air from any electronics department or store. It's the kind made specifically for cleaning electronics. Using the provided plastic tube, blow the compressed air into the fan vents, all side. Do NOT use regular compressed air, there's a good chance you'll inject a squirt of water in there -- laptop innards hate water.

If blowing it out does no good, and if the fan is not moving air, then it's a trip to the guy with small screwdrivers. If your laptop is out of warrenty, there's a good chance the fan is going/has gone. They can be replaced, but be prepared to pay about $30 for the fan, at least, plus about $100 for the service, depending on rates in your area.

Above all, get it fixed! Soon, the CPU will absorb enough heat damage, it will die completely... you'll be looking at a new laptop at that point, or at least a new CPU/motherboard. More money.
