Has anyone with bipolar experienced depersonalization?
Yes. I have been diagnosed with bipolar for about 5 years. I occasionally experience depersonalization (like yesterday). I've been going through a somewhat manic phase and upset it further by staying up till 4am. The next day, I kept forgetting where I had been, everything looked unfamiliar, and I felt like I was not really controlling my body... like I was sitting in a chair in my head, watching a video.
Do alcoholics have multiple personalities?
Everyone has multiple personalities. What i have learnt is that alcoholics do what they do as a means of escape, they have associated drinking with getting away from frustration. Have you ever got annoyed at something and so you do something that you enjoy to get away, like watch tv. You feel you are in control with TV so it is the perfect thing to get away to.
no! it will make u feel just really skinny and depresed.
What happens to the cerebrum when drinking alcohol?
The speed of its functioning are temporarily reduced slightly when drinking.
What is the difference between depressions and anticyclones?
Anticyclones are areas of high pressure, the descending air is cooler, dryer and denser than at ground level. As it descends it warms increasing its ability to hold moisture so precipitation is much less frequent.
Cyclones/depressions on the other hand are low pressure zones that bring unstable weather with strong winds and heavy rain. There are several stages to a depression, the embryonic, mature and stage of decay.
Anticyclones stay for longer, and in regards to the UK, are less frequent, bringing frosts in winter and heatwaves/dry summers. Their winds blow in a clockwise direction and have a low pressure gradient (wide spread isobars) which means gentle winds. Depressions on the other hand have a strong pressure gradient and strong winds, which blow in an anticlockwise direction.
Air rises in a depression and descends in an anticyclone.
Hope this helped.
Can a hospital force a urinary catheter?
It depends on the circumstances. In some cases, yes.
The answer is actually no. In any person competent to make their own decisions (ie not sanctioned under the mental heath act), the hospital cannot force a catheter and if they do will find themselves in court being sued for battery. There is always an alternative to catheterisation but the hospitals do not make people aware of this as it involves more work and inconvenience for them. They tell you that is some procedures a catheter is essential. This is not true and you can refuse the treatment if they insist it involves catheterisation then refer the matter to the medical council. Dont be misled, catheters are not essential. Its your body, if you dont want one just refuse it, there is nothing they can do.
How do you know if your child has multiple personality disorder?
My child is always depressed one minuet, then happy the next, she runs of angry to her room and when I go in there she is happily playing on her computer seemingly unaware as to what happened also regularly spaces out, what should I do, should I take her to a psychiatrist?
If your child has never suffered from any major dramatic trauma then she is highly unlikely to have MPD/DID. She could be bi-polar. Either way if you are concerned with her behavior then taking her to a psychiatrist is a very good idea. It can't hurt, right? Good Luck.
When was mental illness first discovered?
If you talkin in general about the history of illness. i don't know. but if your talking about within a person, it can be as early as a baby/toddler/child. But most choose to ignore symptoms and don't see them as 'signs' due to age..which is annoying.
Does the bipolar person know what they are doing?
absolutely! but frequently they cannot recognize the possibility of negative consequences of those actions. I'm bipolar and clearly recall what happened in my various episodes, I know I knew what I was doing.

subconsciousness - a state of mind not immediately available to consciousness
subconscious mind - psychic activity just below the level of awareness
Possibly. You could go into your family doctor and ask to take a depression/bipolar test to see if you do have something. Sometimes that's just normal, sometimes its not.
If the testator has already died the court will supervise and the costs will come out of the inheritance. A guardian or conservator must be appointed who will act under the supervision of the court on behalf of the ward. In fact, that person may already have a legal representative since they are legally incapacitated. If they don't then one should be appointed. In any case, there must be an arrangement where a trustworthy person is appointed and the court supervises. The funds should be placed in a trust.
However, estate planning that includes a person under a disability should be done well ahead of time. When someone has an heir who is disabled estate planning is crucial. You should consult an attorney who specializes in estate planning and special needs trusts. A testator should devise the incompetent's portion to a trustee. It should never pass to the incompetent person's estate.
Any disabled person who gets extra money from friends or family to help pay for their care and other needs and who is receiving any state or federal assistance needs a special needs trust. An inheritance should go directly to the trustee. Otherwise the person may lose their benefits and the inheritance will have to be spent down until it's gone. Then the person must reapply for financial assistance. An inheritance can cause considerable damage if not arranged properly.
Susanna Kaysen was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a serious and often life-threatening disorder that is characterized by severe emotional pain and difficulties managing emotions. The problems associated with BPD include impulsivity (including suicidality and self-harm), severe negative emotion such as anger and/or shame, chaotic relationships, an extreme fear of abandonment, and accompanying difficulties maintaining a stable and accepting sense of self. Thus, BPD is characterized by pervasive instability of mood, interpersonal relationships, self-image, and actions, often negatively affecting loved ones, family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of self-identity.
Is cold laser therapy recommended for bipolar?
Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy, uses low-level (or low-powered) lasers in an attempt to alter cell functioning. It is generally considered experimental in mainstream medicine as evidence for its use is scant. Dr. Stephen Barrett of Quackwatch, a site dedicated to debunking the false claims of questionable medical practices, is of the opinion that these devices may, "bring about temporary relief of some types of pain, but there's no reason to believe that they will influence the course of any ailment or are more effective than other forms of heat delivery." http://www.devicewatch.org/reports/lllt.shtml
There is no suggestion, anywhere, that cold laser therapy could be helpful in bipolar disorder and there is certainly no evidence supporting that use.
