Sadness and grief are different from depression. Depression is a feeling of sadness with no apparent cause which lasts for longer than two weeks.
Sadness and grief are reactions to tragedy and crisis. You feel sad when someone is sick or dies; you feel sad when you break up with a friend; you feel sad when you fail at a task. Sadness is the "feeling blue" sort of mood where you don't enjoy life much and mope around. Normal sadness will go away in less than two weeks.
Who was the first person to commit suicide?

Does Talking about depression only make it worse?
Sometimes it does make it worse, but it depends on the person, and what about depression you are talking about. If you are talking about things to make it better, to just to vent, it could be a good thing. But if you are talking about suicide and sadder things, it could make the person experiencing depression, to go to the lowest level of depression a person could go into, and that would make it very worse.

Which part of the wrist should you cut?
You shouldn't cut any part of your wrist, or anywhere else on your body. If your depressed, then snap your wrist with a rubber band, it hurts like cutting, but leaves no scar behind. It's never a good idea to cut yourself, if somebody were to find out, how do you think they'd react? Not good. Believe me, my best friend had been cutting hisself for years, even after i told it hurt me too, that I'd lost a lot of respect for him, as he said he'd lost all self respect for himself. Finally, he stopped, because he knew how much it hurt the ones who loved him most. Just find someone you love dearly, and tell the truth. Self harm = Bad.
The molecule of water is made of two atoms of hydrogen bonded to one atom of oxygen. Now the oxygen atom being electronegative pulls the bonded pair of electrons and hydrogen being electropositive let the electrons to be pulled towards the oxygen atom. So, there is a slight -ive charge on O-atom and slight +ive charge on H-atoms. Now the H-O-H molecule i.e. the water molecule is not linear but at an angle of 109.47 degrees, so according to the law of vector addition there is a net -ive charge on the O-atom and net +ive charge on H-atoms, thus making it a bipolar molecule. It is important because of this bipolar nature only water becomes a universal solvent. Any solute dissolves in a solvent only if its molecules are able to make a bonds with the solvent molecules with bond energy more than its lattice energy (the energy by which the molecules of solute are bonded with each other). When a solute is added to water, its +ive part makes bond with O-atom and the -ive part makes bond with the H-atom (of course these bonds are not permanent but are weak intermolecular H-bonding). Also the highly electronegative O-atom provides high ionising power to water. This property of universal solubility and high ionising power is very important for many of the life's reactions to support life and the living world.

What drugs are used to treat depression?
seroquel
Another Answer: also welbutrin, paxil, prozac, celebrex.....there are many types a good psychiatrist can determine what may be best for each individual. It may take a couple of tries before finding the right one.
No, none of these disorders have causative brain malformations that are visible via any imaging technology.
It has been observed on images that the brains of those with schizophrenia is reduced in volume and the amount of cerebrospinal fluid filling the space at the center of the brain is increased, but there is a strong suspicion that this is a consequence of long term use of the antipsychotic medication used to control the disorder rather than the cause of the disorder.

There is a medication for BiPolar disorder that does not cause weight gain. There are some side effects which are reported "tolerable" by the patients. The medication is called: Lamotrigine, which has been quite effective. Lithium has also been fairly well tolerated, but most patients end up adding Lamictal as a "mood lifter" in combination with the Lithium. I am not aware of Lithium causing any weight gain, and I take it myself.
Please be aware if taking Lamictal of any rash you develop. This may be a sign if Steven Johnson's Syndrom, a severely life threating disease.
How do you get a mentally ill person into a hospital if never diagnosed?
If the person gets out of control you need to call an ambulance and they can get the person to the medical care he or she needs. The ambulance personnel are trained on dealing with the mentally ill person. If you have to call your own doctor and see if he or she can help you with the matter. Some mentally ill people have had to be tricked into getting help but it is better if you have medical personnel help you get the proper care you need for him or her.
Is teen depression know as an epidemic?
In my preteen years, I had major depression. It wasn't the usual depression, it was the "I'm going to kill myself soon" depression. I had absolutely no help in bringing myself back up, and my parents (sadly) never known about it. It's because we, as humans, have a tendency to be insensitive towards each other. We cause each other to kill ourselves, and it only continues.

How do you make depressed people happy?
If she is ticklish, then tickle her, and don't stop! If she isn't, then she should probably be on medication, or try to refer to something in the past that has made her laugh. If she cries, then mimic her. If she doesn't laugh at your goofballness, then say, uh oh, looks like I'm going to have to bring in the tickle monster, and say to her as you're tickling her, "Tickle tickle tickle tickle!". Really fast!
Yep, and some have cancer, some are bald, some are skinny, some are fat, some are weird, some are normal, some are mean and some are nice. I am sure there are teachers with different things about them that make them unique.
Men are less likely to suffer from depression than women. Men's depression is often masked by alcohol or drugs, or by the socially acceptable habit of working excessively long hours. Depression typically shows up in men not as feeling hopeless and helpless, but as being irritable, angry, and discouraged; hence, depression may be difficult to recognize as such in men.
After the depression can you become manic and angry?
It is possible, but every person is different. Depression has many causes and sometimes can be resolved without deteriorating into more serious illness. The term "manic" should not be used without diagnosis and treatment by a mental health professional. Lots of people have mood changes and emotional shifts that are perfectly normal.
