What are coastal cold deserts?
Even in winter the coastal desert usually will have highs in the 60s (degrees F.) and nights are pleasant but a jacket would be needed. On rare ocassions the temperature may drop below freezing briefly at night in the winter. Summers rarely see temperatures above 80 degrees although a temperature of 90 degrees is not unknown. The coastal deserts have their temperature moderated by cold ocean currents so do not experience the extreme temperatures of other deserts.
Are the North and South Poles considered deserts?
The South Pole, which is located in Antarctica, is a desert. The North Pole is not located on a continent but on sea ice so cannot be considered as a desert. Continental lands that do surround the Arctic would be considered as tundra.

Do jackals live in the Mojave Desert?
Coyotes are found in all deserts of North America, including in the Mojave. They are quite adaptable and live in almost every biome, including in urban areas. I have camped in Death Valley of the Mojave Desert and a coyote marched right into our camp, stopped for a minute or two to look us over, and then marched right off into the desert again.
Were is the hottest part of the world?
The hottest air temperature ever reliably recorded in a desert was 134
degrees F in Death Valley of the Mojave Desert in California on July 10,
1913. An even warmer temperature of 136 degrees was recorded a few years
later in Libya but that has been discounted as inaccurate as it was not
properly measured by untrained Italian soldiers. A recent ground
temperature was measured by a satellite in Iran that was even hotter but
the ground temperature does not reflect the temperature of the air above
it. Anyone who has walked barefoot over an asphalt parking lot in summer
can attest to that.
There have been even hotter temperatures registered recently in Iraq (July, 2015) but I have found nothing to verify the accuracy of those numbers.

The Painted Desert is in northern Arizona and covers a vast area from the Grand Canyon to Petrified Forest National Park.
The one characteristic shared by all deserts is low precipitation. A desert is defined as a region that receives less than 10 inches (250 mm) of precipitation on average per year. Some deserts receive virtually no rainfall, sometimes for years. Deserts, whether hot or cold, all have limited numbers of plants adapted to the particular environment.

How can kids help save the deserts?
It is unlikely that any person can individually change the climate of a desert.
Collectively we can do a lot about altering the current climate change pattern. Global warming, caused mainly by too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as a result of centuries of burning fossil fuels, will increase evaporation and thus increase rainfall and generally it will reduce current deserts. But that will go along with more violent tropical storms and a raised sea level.
What is the temperature in cold deserts at night?
Unless you name a specific desert and time of year, there is no meaningful answer to your question. Each desert has its own climatic conditions. The answer could range from well below minus 100 degrees F. for Antarctica to 80 or 90 degrees above zero for the Mojave Desert in summer.

What is the highest recorded temperature in the Negev Desert?
The hottest temperature ever recorded reliably was 134 degrees F. at Furnace Creek in Death Valley of the Mojave Desert in 1913. Hotter ground temperatures were recorded in Iran by satellites but this does not reflect the actual air temperature.
