How difficult is it to install a dishwasher yourself?

I HAVE A PORTABLE WHIRLPOOL AND I GOT A PROFFESIONAL TO DO IT BUT IT WAS 250$ TO INSTALL!!!! YOU CAN INSTALL IT YOURE SELVE YOU HAVE TO BUY SPECIAL TOOLS. OR YOU CAN CALL A PRO I THINK YOU SHOULD CALL THE PRO A friend of mine decided to jump in and install my old roll away portable Kenmore dishwasher today in her kitchen. She ran into a few problems. First some brilliant person raised the level of the sub floor so two cabinets had to be pulled out to get into the spot where it needed to go. So out they came. The cabinet where the dishwasher goes headed out to the trash. Then she removed some screws and took the outer housing off of the old dishwasher. We were met with a few SPIDERS that were hiding in there. Ewe ! Next problem, this particular Kenmore (made by whirlpool) roll away dishwasher water drain line connects under the dishwasher with a hose that looks like a washing machine hose. This was a plumbing fiasco since she had to add a new hose. She made three trips to the hardware store before she found a threaded brass fitting that she could slide and rubber hose over and tighten it with a hose clamp. Then she had to slide the other end over the drain connection for the garbage disposal. She had to T into the hot water supply line and connect the water supply with a new hose also. Lastly we had to put the cabinet back into place. That was a fun job. And then finally the front panel just below the door is not the same kind as a regular built in dishwasher. It is intended to cover the wheels and attaches to the frame. So, now my husband will be watching the metal bin where he works for a similar dishwasher that is brought for recycling for a new lower front panel. We are lucky that we have this resource available or else we would be calling for a part that would likely be expensive. Oh, and one thing I failed to metnion. We tried just plugging the dishwasher in to the plug under the sink where the garbage disposal is plugged in (In this case it is a double plug with power to both halves) and guess what we found? It would not work. The voltage must be different. Lucky for us she had a plug right next to the side of the cabinet. We just nipped the corner off of the cabinet and ran the cord out from behind the cabinet to the outlet. Voila it worked! Not a professional wire job by any means, but it is something to think about when you consider doing this job yourself... With the hoses and plumbing connections she spent 60.00 on the project. The man at our town plumbing supply store said that his plumber would do it for about 120. A deal. But, that price would not have included taking cabinets out to make it fit and then putting one back. If you feel brave and have a good plumbing supply with a willing helpful staff that you can bug with questions all day and you are generally pretty mechanically inclined I say go for it. We got the pink hammer award for doing this today. (Though she did not call me in until the job was partly done I was glad to have the experience.) Do not kid yourself though. This is a full day job for a non plumber. Re-cap Where will you get power? Where will you get new fittings and hoses and are you saavy? Do you have a disposal that you can easily attach your drain hose to? Can you T into the hot water source under the sink? Good luck to you.

Who makes Kenmore elite model 71073?

One Answer:

If you look at the control panel on the door you can see that it's very similar to Whirlpool Gold control panels. I also asked sears.com chat person and he confirmed that it is Whirlpool. Whirlpool also makes: Kitchenaid, Jennair, Maytag, as well as Whirlpool.

Second CORRECT Answer:

As usual, someone just offers an answer and really doesn't do ANY research. Then accepts an answer from a salesperson as gospel! Wow, I'd like to be selling this person some land in Florida...

Ok, here's the researched answer. The Kenmore Elite model #72053 is 31 cu. ft. in size. The biggest Whirlpool Gold French Door refrigerator is 26 cu. ft. (from their website). So who makes this particular model? LG does, go to their website AND compare the model #LFX31925ST to the Kenmore Elite #72053.

This does not mean Whirlpool doesn't make Kenmore refrigerators, just NOT this model.

How do you fix a bathtub drain It drains very slow?

Answer

First, if your drain has a stopper with a rod, try pulling it up and checking for hair or other debris wrapped around it. Remove any gunk you find. This is the cheapest way to fix a slow drain.

If you do not have a stoppered drain or this doesn't fix the problem, try pouring a half cup of baking soda down the drain followed by a half cup of white vinegar. Allow it to sit for about five minutes, then rinse it away with water. Repeat if necessary.

If your tub still drains slowly, you can invest in a chemical clog remover. Pick one and follow the directions on the bottle carefully. Most chemical clog removers are made of very caustic stuff, so make sure to rinse your tub out completely before using it again.

Tub still draining slowly? Your next solution is a pipe snake. Improper or unskilled use of a pipe snake can cause damage to both your plumbing and your external bath fixtures. If you are not a professional plumber, or do not have extensive plumbing experience, you may want to contact a professional to take this step for you. At this point, you may want a professional opinion on your drain anyway.

Once your tub is draining normally again, take steps to prevent future clogs.

- Install a drain trap to help keep debris from entering your pipes and clean it out after every use.

- If anyone in your household using your tub has long and/or thick hair, encourage them to brush it out and dispose of shedding hair before stepping in the shower.

- At the first sign of a clog, check the stopper rod or try the baking soda and vinegar. Don't allow a small problem to grow bigger through negligence.

Dishwasher does not drain the water what is the problem?

I would suspect the float valve assembly is defective. Replace this assembly with a modern assembly. Can be purchased at any hardware store.

It also could be your flush gate not closing all the way either a plastic cone or a rubber flapper, sometimes the level gets stuck up or the chain gets caught and if its a bad flapper you can purchase it at any hardware store too.

Does homeowners insurance cover water damage due to a dishwasher breaking and leaking?

Unfortunately not. Read your policy well but more then likely not! I worked in two different insurance companies and water damage was a very big deal! The only way you could get any type of coverage was if you had flood insurance, if you lived in a flood zone, and IF FEMA declared it a flood! Sorry!

Where is the brain of a dishwasher?

Dishwashers don't exactly have a "brain", usually they are controlled by an electromechanical timer/control unit operated by a small synchronous electric motor. A few of the newest (and most expensive) models use a microprocessor based timer/control unit. Either type of control unit is typically in the module containing the main cycle selection knob (usually mounted on the door in home models).
