Why do girls seem to like doctors so much or is that just a myth?
I am not going to try to represent the female community as a whole, but in my opinion it all depends on what kind of doctor it is, and what the girls' experience with doctors is. If it is a female health doctor some girls may feel uncomfortable with the doctor examining their private parts and are likely to not like this doctor as much. If it is a OB/GYN doctor, because this doctor is helping them have a healthier baby, girls are more likely to like this doctor. A girls normal physician is generally liked after a certain period of time when the girl feels comfortable with her doctor. This is often the situation with all doctors, as a rule, the more you know them, the more you like them. However, some girls may feel they can confide more in their female health doctor and may like them more because of this. And some girls may not like a OB/GYN because they feel they can take care of their baby them self or they have a bad experience with one, such as having to go through an abortion or miscarriage. But even this can be different, as some girls are glad to have an abortion, or feel safe with their doctor because they gave them an abortion when their parents may not have approved or would have been mad at her. Generally, with specialists, patients either like them or hate them either because they make them feel uncomfortable, misunderstood, and visa versa. So, I cannot say if girls like doctors more or less than boys do. It may be that girls just don't complain as often, or they have different kinds of doctors than boys. It is all subjective. I would not advise quizzing a future girlfriend on the subject, as doctors can be a touchy subject, until later in the relationship. Girls may like psychiatrists more than boys because girls tend to like expressing their feelings more and are more sensitive generally. But not all girls are the same.

Yes, a medical doctor (MD) has a doctorate in medicine.
Our society has used the term doctor to refer to anyone who has completed a doctoral degree in school. Thus, there are many different types of doctors, spanning many fields. Most often we associate the term doctor with certain health care professionals who have completed a doctorate level degree. Some examples of those are:
Doctors of Medicine (MD) - use medications and surgery to treat almost anything
Doctors of Dentistry (DDS) - treat problems involving teeth and gums
Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) - treat animals using medicine or surgery
Doctors of Optometry (OD) - deal with issues involving the eyes
Doctors of Podiatry (DPM) - deal with issues involving the feet
Doctors of Chiropractic (DC) - deal with issues involving the spine and neuromusculoskeletal system
But, in fact, professionals who have completed a doctorate in philosophy (PhD) are also doctors, despite not being directly involved in health care. These doctors are usually scientists and/or university professors.

What is a forensic pathologist?
A pathologist is a scientist who interprets and diagnoses change in body tissues, fluids and and organs, as in, for example, a post-mortem examination: the extensive investigation after death of the cause of that death. Forensics is applying scientific methods to the investigation of crime, or in order to give evidence in court cases. So a forensic pathologist investigates and reports on the means by which a person has died of disease, or been injured or killed in order to assist a criminal investigation or prosecution. Forensics are not confined to personal injury cases; forensic investigation covers the checking of evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, and so on. We also employ forensic accountants, archaeologists and so on. The word comes from the Latin for forum, in the sense of a court or tribunal.

How does a nurse or doctor insert an nasogastric NGT tube?
For putting a naso gastric tube keep the patient propped up or in a sitting position. Take a well lubricated naso gastric tube and pass it down the nose. Ask the patient to swallow when it is in the throat and push it down on swallowing. You can give the patient a glass of water to sip to help him to swallow and keep pushing the tube. Aspirate to get bile and stomach contents and check with litmus paper to make sure it is in the stomach. Alternatively, you can check the position with a plain X-ray to check the tip before any feeding.
What do you do if you didn't know a doctor was out-of-network?
Go to, don't call, go to the hospital administration office and demand to speak to the CEO. Tell the hospital CEO your problem. Tell him/her that the hospital did not tell you that this may happen and that the anesthesiologist is not cooperative and will not give you a discount. The CEO does have some influence, not total control, but some influence with the doctors that practice at their hospital. Most hospitals have a disclaimer that informs you of this possibility at the time services are received. Good luck and be aware next time, this happens a lot more than you know.
There are several options in this situation. Much will depend on the contract of the insurance. No one picks their anesthesiologist these days, so this often happens. Anesthesiologists know this and don't contract with any insurance companies, sometimes.
Many policies have a provision that pays the Anesthesiologist based on a percentage of the surgeon's fee, like 20%.
Try these options: 1) Appeal to your insurance company. Pretty much all carriers have written appeal methods. Explain that you chose a network physician and a network facility and that no choice was available to you for the Anesthesiologist.
2) Make small payments along the way. Send $25 or $50 each month to keep them off your back and to keep them from sending this to collections. Appeals usually take 30-90 days. If the bill goes to collections, your options are much more limited.
3) Contact your insurance agent or your employer's insurance agent if you insurance is through your job. Not everyone has an agent, but if you do, they can help you work through this because they are a third party and can talk to both the provider and the insurance on their terms.
4) If the appeal fails or only goes through for a portion of the charges and you've exhausted all other options, ask to speak to a supervisor at the provider and offer a payoff of something like $0.50 on the dollar of the balance, if you pay within 1 month.
Make them send you it or fax it to you in writing! Ask your agent to do this for you, if you can. Remember, that medical debts, on national average, only collect about $0.19 of every dollar billed to an individual.
No one pays the billed amount for medical services! Insurance companies typically get between 20 and 50 percent discounts with network providers. Medicare is often worse and Medicaid is often much worse. Approach it like someone who is in a bad situation through no fault of your own and you just want to settle the debt. They do, too.
As an agent, I have negotiated anywhere from 5% to 95% for clients.

Can a doctor withhold a prescription?
Ah SHOT GUN MEDICINE. This seems to be the new trend with younger doctors. The want more and more office visits, which equates to more money in their pockets. I think ethics classes are in order here.
What an ethical doctors office does, is fill the prescription and call you and ask you to make an appointment in the next 30 days. This way you are not put at risk.
In my case, the doc pulled this on a Friday at 4 pm with no way logistically for me to make an office visit, and they didn't fill my meds, not even a couple of pills. I am going w/o my meds this weekend, and have made an appointment at a different docs office, because I find this shotgun medicine abhorrent.
