That are some signs that your dog might be sick or if its very old it's time will arrive soon. Depending if your dog's a female she might be pregnant. You should take your dog to a veterinarian if he/she continues laying down and seems weak. Bit most probably it is sick or it's time has come.

Hi i have a blue heeler who is 4 years old. She is a great loyal and smart dog and only barks when somebody comes to the house. she is great protection. Blue heelers generally do not bark often as they are smart dogs and will listen when told something. That's why they are used on farms lots. The only reason my blue heeler while continously bark is if se no's if something i wrong.

I am not aware of a national dog which represents all of the USA. The most popular dog for the last several years -- according to American Kennel Club registrations -- has been the Labrador Retriever. Also, the American Pit Bull Terrier has been used extensively in old war posters from the early 1900s, representing the "neutral but unafraid" America. But officially, I don't think America has a national dog per se.

If your dog is a male, he may be just marking his "territory". Male dogs will go around a put a little squirt of urine on trees, fence posts, and other objects to let other dogs know that this area "belongs" to them. If what you are observing isn't what I describe you should consult your veterinarian.

Actually this "lock jaw" does not really exist not even in pitties(American Pit Bull). The lock jaw people refer to is actually the muscle that supports the jaw the larger the dogs head the harder the bite in fact rots have the largest bite 365lbs per inch. Lock jaw isn't what it's called it's actually just the dog biting and holding onto it's subject. Rots aren't known for doing this but actually biting repeatably with their massive bite.

I have two dogs who keep fighting how do I stop them?
I'm not sure if this will be the best answer, but I . I volenteer for a dog trainer for some time now and I learn new things everyday. One was that you shoukd never come between two dogs that are fghting. What the trainer did was put a shock collar on one of the dogs, probably the one who starts it. Put it on LOW shock and if they start fighting, give a zap. I know that you might think that this is animal cruelty, but it doesnt hurt the dog at all. This gives him the reminder "Hey, dont do that, it doesnt solve things!" Soon it should show affects, and soon the dog will feel safe and comforted in the collar. Then when the call up ask for a description of the dog to make sure that it is really theirs. Just a tip. Try getting out 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of kibble (I didn't really measure) and break it down in a plastic container with something (add water to it and warm it up to help get it mushy) then add Frosty paws dog ice cream to it and mix it up with some 2 spoonfuls of peanutbutter. Warm it up in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Mix it up after that and make sure it's not too hot before you serve it to your dog. My dogs love it! (Make sure you warm everything up in a bowl instead of a plastic container)

- Beating an animal is never OK. Even a dog in the wild would not be bitten and physically dominated by the pack's alpha if it stepped out of line in the wild. Wild wolf packs are made out of family members, and any disagreements are highly ritualised and it is rare for either party to come to any physical harm, as a great deal of the "fighting" is just posturing and showing teeth. 1 or 2 smacks to the hind-quarters is unlikely to do your dog any harm, but is also unlikely to do any good. Beating however, is different. If you have even hit your dog with a stick or other kind of weapon, it will remember. If you threw it down the stairs etc, it will remember. Dogs look up to their owners for guidance, and the "this is what a dog would do in a pack situation" just doesn't work in a domestic setting. For an example, if a young dog or puppy living with a pack was to attempt to approach a snake, or other dangerous situation, his mother would not smack him in the butt, of across the nose, she would take him by the scruff, growl, perhaps a little shake, and the puppy would associate what he was doing as not being acceptable behaviour. If a young dog, again in a pack scenario, was to pester, annoy, or attempt to dominate another dog that is higher up in the pack order, the other dog doesn't smack it on the nose or butt, but will often posture and growl to show it's displeasure. Even these do not use physical force. However, these scenarios do not apply to a human owner and their pet dog. If the dog was in immediate danger, then restraining the dog is naturally the best way to keep the dog from harm. This is NOT the same as hitting or correcting.
Bulldogs, despite their ferocious appearance, are virtually known to be very loyal and very friendly dogs generally. They are certainly not 'dogs of incident', although if ever one is forced into confrontation, it is very hard to release the grip of their jaws due to their 'placement'.
