Dog Behavior

Dogs are unable to talk just like we do, but we can still understand their feelings by observing their behavior and body language. It is compulsory that an owner is aware of his dog's body language, as it will not only strengthen their bond, but will also prevent tragic results where the owner is forced to abandon his dog due to behavior problems. In this category, there are questions relating to the different body languages of dogs, their behavior, etc.

Why do cats chase mouses?

Cats are predators and in the wild they actively hunt for their food, which usually consisted of small mammals and birds. This instinct is so deeply rooted that even pet cats will often catch mice and other small animals, even if it is not hungry.

What behavior should you expect when your dog is dying?

When dogs are close to passing away they will look sad and you will also notice they are starting to become weak. They'll also refuse to eat or play, and sometimes may even stop wagging their tails. Dogs will also often try to find somewhere private in which to die, they may even run away. Dogs are very intuitive creatures and they seem to know better than we humans do when they are dying. Continue to love them, scratch their heads and stroke them. Showing that you still have love for them in their final hours is very important.

What is the primary purpose of muzzling a dog?

How do you know if a dog trusts you?

Cats are their most vulnerable when they roll over on their backs to expose their bellies. If your cat rolls over like this and lets you pet his belly, that's usually a good sign that he trusts you! However, some cats feel uncomfortable when you rub their bellies.. so don't be upset if your cat isn't having it.

Are brindle pit bulls more aggressive than other pit bulls?

Kind of a dumb question, would be like asking is a white cat is meaner then a gray cat. But not all pit bulls are mean, like all dogs it depends on the owner and how they were raised. I have had pit bulls for the past seven years and they are the smartest and sweetest dogs that I have ever owned. They have been well socialized with other animals (including cats and chickens) and are great around my kids (1 and 3). Check out this site and see why most pit bull attacks are more then likely mistaken identity.

i am with the one up there pit bulls are not mean it just depends on the way they were raised i have been around pit bulls all my life and i have not seen these dogs that i grew up with bite no body

EDIT: I agree with the very first person that answered this idiotic question, different fur color means nothing. Any dog can be aggressive, any breed can be aggressive.. the one to accuse is the owners. Owners for the most part will take full responsibility, but sometimes there are people out there that don't actually care what happens with their dogs. The site listed above is very recommended for people that don't have a clue about Pit Bulls.

Now, let me ask you this(for the person that asked this), does this dog look terrorizing? http://www.sfgov.org/site/uploadedimages/acc/Adoption_Center/dogs/Pogo.jpg

Edit: A dog's fur color has no bearing on his temperament. Does your skin color determine your temperament? No.

Will a dog remember its owner after a long period of time?

Yes, cats can remember their people, quite well in fact. I've lived with cats for most of my life and they're quite intelligent and deliberating animals.

As an example, I once babysat (catsat?) two cats for a friend who was on a trip out of the country. He was gone for two years almost exactly. When he returned, the cats recognized him instantly from across the room and literally ran to meet him as soon as he had stepped through the door. These cats were distrustful of strangers--even though they had warmed up to me, they still would not have done that even for me.

So the answer is a very definite "yes".

How do dogs mourn when their owners die?

The prospective owner goes to the guide dog training school, usually for about three weeks, for training on handling a guide dog. Trainers and instructors evaluate different pairings of dogs and humans to determine which are good matches. Once a person is matched with their dog they complete training and return home with their new guide.

Most guide schools have scheduled visits where instructors visit the team in their home and work with them on any difficulties they've had in daily life activities together.

Some schools retain ownership of the dog throughout the dog's life while others turn ownership over to the blind handler.

What does foamy yellow vomit mean in a dog?

Umm, does your dog have rabies?

Maybe you should take it to the Vet...... O.o

That's just not normal, dude. And I study to be a vet, and:

1) I have NEVER in my life heard of foamy yellow vomit from a dog, and

2) Know that's not natural and not good at all.

If your dog has foamy yellow vomit, you need to probably take it to the Vet immediately. That would scare me half to death, i don't know about you.

How can you help a dog in mourning?

This kind of pain takes a very long time to heal. What you should *not* do is run out and get a "replacement dog," since each animal is an individual and cannot be replaced. Allow yourself to grieve and accept the kindness of others who want to console you. Dogs hold a special place in our hearts because of the pure and unconditional love they give us. This is a hard thing to let go of.

My dog only wants food I'm eating what do I do?

Renowned child psychologist, Dr. Spock [referring to children who won't eat]: "Try sarcasm, if that fails, one can always resort to outright derision or violence". I think that this would apply to puppies as well. If it doesn't eat for several months, odds are it will die. Hope this helps!
