Dog Breeding and Mating

Inbreeding of dogs is NOT recommended because it can cause more problems than not.

I believe that this question should be brodened to include mix gender gyms as well as woman's gyms. I believe that gyms that operate at temperatures exceeding 70 degrees pose a significant risk to certain members. Those who do not sweat adiquatly or perhaps are predesposed to heart desease may be among those at risk. Also, a gym that is too hot may also contribute to the spread of bacteria and respitory infections. I do not have the scientific back up to support these supositions but I believe that they exist.

Most chain-pet stores that sell puppies get their dogs from puppy mills. Many petstores (excluding animal shelters, of course) get their dogs from puppy mills.

I don't think that would be safe for the female. If you were determined to do that you should reverse the order -breed a Mini, male Schnauzer with a Standard female. You should also ask yourself what your reasons for considering this are and throughly research breeding and get a good understanding of what you are doing. Before taking a chance of doing any harm to the animals, particularly a female who is considerably smaller than a male, complete your research.

A male and female boxer will try to mate with their own puppies once the puppies go into heat.

If you puppy is having problems with bowel movement you need to contact your vet so you can get a laxative prescription. Be careful though because if the issue is due to blockage or obstruction a laxative could cause further damage.

These are times when it seems like your puppys growth just spurt ahead and he is so much bigger now then the last time you checked.

Be sure to toilet your new pup in an area where strange dogs have not been. Very young puppies will not have sufficient protection from vaccinations yet to keep them safe from dangerous and potentially fatal diseases like parvo. Parvo (and other diseases) can be spread by contact with contaminated fecal material. Ask your vet when it will be safe for your puppy to have contact with unknown dogs. Until then, carry him whenever you are in an area where other dogs toilet. Just to add - places where foxes could have been are also dangerous until the puppy's vaccinations take effect. You may think that your back garden/yard has been free from strange dogs but if there's a chance that a fox has "visited" then keep the puppy away until your vet says it's ok.

My chiwinnie went into heat at about 7 months of age and it lasted two weeks. Watch them carefully as they tend to stray off (even in bad weather) when they are in heat. Their heat cycle can last up to 21 days.

Puppies Behind Bars is a prison pet program. This particular program was started in 1997 by a former office worker to mayor Rudy Guilanni. The program gives prison inmates a puppy. The inmates learn how to take care of the puppies via classes etc. and the puppies are trained to be service dogs for the disabled, bomb detection dogs, or companions for people with psychological disorders such as veterans returning with post traumatic stress disorder.

First you have to teach him what "NO" is . . . remember, it can't understand any human language. But it can react to various sound combinations that just happen to be words to you and me.

Anyway, when it does something that it shouldn't, tell it "No" firmly, and either pull it away from what it's doing or distract it away. If you get angry or shout at him, then it just won't work. Ever.

NEVER, EVER let the dog ignore ANY command. NEVER say the command more than once, using its name, like, "Rover, NO" or "Rover, SIT". You may need to go to a puppy training class so that YOU can learn what to do.

I was once teaching a puppy of mine to "Come". He was doing pretty well after a week, and then one day, he chose NOT to come. I had to chase him around the large yard, through prickle bushes and thorns, and so on, until he got so tired that I could lead him over to where I had first been and say, "GOOD COME!!! " with lots of head pats. He never ignored that command, again.

YOU CANNOT let a dog do something bad one day, and scold him for doing it the next day. DOGS KNOW 2 THINGS: "I can always do this" and "I can never do this". If you don't want the puppy to grow up lying on the couch or chairs, then NEVER, EVER let him get on the couch or chairs.

Remember three things:

1. It may seem it takes forever, but the puppy will learn OK, as long as you always say the same commands to it, and always be sure that it obeys, even if you have to gently move it.

2. I can't stress this hard enough, and it has to do with YOUR intelligence, but you MUST ALWAYS reward the puppy with a snack, a hug, and the best: A short playtime. This, just between you and me, is the secret to dog training. Make it WANT to do what you command, and eventually, the puppy will obey you without even thinking about it.

3. NEVER, EVER, EVER scold your dog, especially after he has done something bad. He won't know why you're upset, because he doesn't remember what he did wrong. Then he will be much less likely to obey you in the future.

maybe not normal, but it shouldn't be any type of problem at all. it should be used to other dogs though, if you have more. that would be an advantage.

The female and male dog usually mate for at least 5 minutes, it is difficult to stop them once they have started mating especially after the ejaculation.

For a good rottweiler, AKC registered, with a chamption bloodline expect to pay about $2500 for a male and $2000 for a female... you shouldn't buy anything less because it probably means they are not from good breeders and are not bred proparly so the dogs are more likey to have behavior problems and medical issues

Cutoff age is generally around 5 or 6 years old, before they become a "senior" and the earliest you should ever breed a female should be their third season. For both guidelines this is because breeding and whelping are harder on their bodies before or after that time. And of course the health and safety of your female should be your first concern.

I don't suggest breeding to a boxer... stick to their own breed. If you are trying to produce puppies with traits, body structure, or markings that the boxer has and your female doesn't... try to find that in another American Bulldog. Physically yes it would work and I don't have anything against boxers, they are a wonderful breed, but there is no reason to cross breed when each breed has their own qualities that don't need to be changed. Every breed in the world has their own health risks, however I am not a vet and you should always research the breed, talk to established quality breeders and always talk to your vet and even get a few other vets opinions.

If you have a min pin puppy, and it has not opened it's eyes after 4 to 5 months, you might want to take it to the vet. But, it depends on what happened with their parents. If both or one of them had a problem or was sick when they were very young, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about! I'm a vet, so I know what I'm talking about. Also, there may be something to worry about when your puppy has not opened your eyes after a full two years.

The best way to tell if your dog is having seizures is to take it to a vet and have it checked out. It could be a form of epilepsy and should be treatable with medications. The it could just be stretching for a few seconds. Without actually seeing the pet when this happens, it's very hard to offer much more in the way of advice. When in doubt, to the vet to check it out.
