How do you stop my dog from eating deer poop?

if your dog is on a leash when it eats that yukky poop, pull your dog back and tell him "leave it" with a firm voice. if that doesn't work, get infront of your dog (don't step in the poop!) and snap your finger at your dogs mouth. Do not get your hand to close to your dogs mouth! Your dog might have a much more different response

What can you use on a driveway gate to keep a little dog from going under it?

I take the plastic covers for gutters that are meant to keep leaves from clogging the drain pipes and attach them to the bottom of the gate with cable ties. I put one on each side and tie them together to make them more rigid. If the gate is higher off the ground than that, buy some pig wire from the farm supply store and attach it at the bottom. Pig wire is a rigid wire fencing that a small dog could not bend like chicken coop wire.

Is it hard to potty train a lab?

Like I say in most of my answers, it all depends on the dog. However, in general, puggle puppies are pretty easy to potty train. So if you have a dog of this breed, potty training should be pretty easy for you.

How to train to be a dog walker?

With licensed dog walker I have heard there are no licenses to receive in this area but if you register a company such as DBA or similair, you could probably get away with say you are licensed.

3. What services do they offer, is there anything not being offered that you could create a niche for?

You will want to come up with a name for your business and check with your local city hall that no other business is already using that name.

After that I would suggest going to godaddy and registering the URL of that business. A website is well worth the cost in this type of business as it will convey trust.

Once you have your website registered, you will want to create new client forms for them to fill out when they hire you, you will want a form requesting their pets information and also all their contact info, vets info and emergency contact.

Next you should setup an account with paypal to receive payments from clients.

Then you will want to setup a basic website, it should list who you are, what services you offer, your prices and service area as well as how to contact you.

After that you should register with Google adwords and start promoting your website.

Then contact pet sitter associates and purchase insurance and bonding as well as registering with either PSI or NAPPS.

How do you get your dog to not jump up on people?

Take him to animal obedience classes.

AnswerConsidering some human males are always doing the same thing to us women here is a simple rule .... lift your leg and push the "dawg" roughly away from you and then do damage! LOL

Now, speaking about the problem with your "dog" just lift that leg, knee bent, gently push against the dog saying "down!" and then press the palm of your hand on his head and say "good dog." Only takes a couple of times.

Funny, this method works well on dogs, but not some males, so guess who is higher on the chain of intelligence!

The previous answer is a more dominant training technique, but what most people don't know is that positive reinforcement methods can be used when teaching a dog not to jump up. When training a dog not to jump, it's useful teach him that good things come from the floor. So if the dog is about to jump up, throw treats on the floor to distract him. This will take the focus off of the person and onto the floor.

Teach him a 'touch' or 'shake' command as an alternative greeting to jumping up. It doesn't take long before the dog learns that this is the proper way to greet family and guests.

Are shih-tzu easy to train?

Yes, they are easy to train. The trick is, since they are so small, when they are starting to have an accident or already had one, first scold them, then take them outside as soon as possible. If they do go out side, praise them and cuddle them. Every time you take your Shih Tzu outside, make sure they go to the bathroom, so they know that when they go outside, that's there time to go, and no other time. This worked very well when I did this with my Shih Tzu.

Never scold a dog for going to the bathroom that's terrible. Use positive reinforcement. Puppys have very small bladders and need to go out very very frequently. Instead of scolding the dog. Give it a treat and praise when it does its business outside. It also helps to bring it to the same spot to go potty every time. If you cathc it in the act of peeing or pooping a firm no will do and then take it outside to its potty place. If you are consistent with training and let your puppy out often, this will get your puppy potty trained quite fast. But scolding your dog will usually result in it being scared of you and its more difficult training a dog who's afraid.

How do you stop dogs chasing shadows?

Well, I guess it is just their nature. Many dog's were and some still are taught to hunt creatures, but I believe it is their playful nature! My dog also chases shadows at night, and also chases lights, like if you shine a torch around on the floor. I don't really think there is an exact answer to your question, but I do hope I have helped a little.

How can i teach my puppy to come when called?

The same thing you do with any other dog, you get its attention. By patting your legs, whistling, calling its name, or if your dog love to play with a tennis ball like mine you could even through it in the air to get its attention. Jack Russell's are no different than other dogs, all dogs can be stubborn when they want to be, and in that way dogs are just like people.

Why does a dog follow one person wherever they go in the house?

The dog may has probably formed a stronger attachment to the person that it is following. This happens more often with an older puppy or adult dog that you have brought to your home. If you are the main caretaker and give the dog more attention then the other household members the dog will most likely attach themselves to that person. This can be seen more often in the breeds that are considered a "one man dog" breed.

Are Alaskan Klee Kai Dogs easy to train?

Actually, every dog has different personalities and it's this personality that determines what they would do well in regardless of breed. So to answer your question, most Malamutes are good as sled dogs, working dogs, and some are hunting dogs while some are bad at all of the above. In order to understand why, we need to take a little step backwards in the breeds history. As a person with knowledge and experience, I can help give you some ideas as to determine whether your Malamute is still suitable for a hunting dog or if it's just another one of those working types.

Back in the early days, the Inuit people in the tribe responsible for the breeding were VERY picky on the quality of their dogs. Breeding of the Malamutes were divided between the working dogs and the hunting dogs.

Hunting types:

In the old days, the Mahlemute tribes bred these dogs mostly to be working dogs, some as hunting types. Hunting Malamutes were bred to be friendly with humans but maintained most of their high prey drives for wild animals and were known to assist their human hunters while sled Malamutes were slightly smaller in size and focused on the simpler tasks from pulling heavy loads, navigation purpose, or even baby-sitting children. Some escape artists at the time were also known to bring home mostly rodents and fish (despite their sizes, they cannot take down caribous or muskox like their wild wolf cousins due to their teeth being not strong enough to crush the bones of a medium sized hoof runner). During seasonal hunts, a hunter would shoot a caribou multiple times to slow it down, sometimes in the ankle if they were lucky and then a group of hunting Malamutes would race ahead to help bring down the pre-shot caribou, in this case, finishing the animal off by the neck. So yeah, these are just some examples of the hunting types and the ones that CAN be trained as hunting dogs. Sadly though, during the Gold Rush, people began breeding the Malamutes primarily for working purpose so the modern day Malamutes have quite a lower hunting instinct than that of the early hunting ones. Alaskan Malamutes were also used to find seal holes and protect the camp from bears and intruders.

Working types:

The working Malamutes were the most common dogs in what's now known as Alaska and some parts of Yukon. They took no part in the hunting and were less aggressive than the hunting types. Working types did assist the people in gathering the leftovers from the hunt as well as guiding their human companions out of harm's way (such as disobeying commands by steering away from a direction where the dog senses danger like thin ice or the presence of a bear). Some also carried thin wood for fire. There is a lot of stuff that the working types were responsible for that I cannot list it all here. While working dogs can also hunt rodents on their own, they cannot take down any pre-shot caribou like the hunting groups so all hunting were left to the hunters and their hunting Malamutes. Both hunting dogs and working dogs did have one thing in common was that they can pull sleds.

Modern types:

Today, due in part to us human relying more on the markets and in some cases, using hunting rifles, hunting Malamutes are no longer necessary so the hunting type Malamutes have virtually died out. While minor hunting instincts can still be found in a lot of the modern day dogs, it is mostly the working instinct in this northern spitz type dog that has survived and so I recommend teaching your Malamute how to do tasks that are suitable for a working dog than how to hunt. In the case with most modern Alaskan Malamutes, most breeders look for qualities that are suitable for a working or family dog. Personalities play a role, those with the rare aggressive dominant behaviors would be rejected from breeding. This also meant that certain traits like being easily distracted by a passing stranger or even getting friendly with a cat that would have been considered unwanted for a working or hunting type dog began to rise in the breed as well. VERY FEW modern day Malamutes can still take down a pre-shot running caribou but most of them would more likely be pummeled by the hoof runner's strength due to their lack of experience in hunting. The modern types are also sub-divided into different groups. The most popular are the Kotzebue, the kind that are extremely friendly with people and are more suitable for a family's dog and the M'loots, the larger ones that still have most of the working instinct from their Working type ancestors. Most of the Alaskan Malamutes that you'd run into around the world are Kotzebue while M'loots are far more rare and are exclusive to Canada and Alaska.

How to stop a dog from urinating in the house?

If your dog goes to the bathroom inside, tell it off by sending them to their bed and making them stay there. Let them out regularly, and they should be fine.If your dog is sniffing around or circling, that is telling you that she needs to go to the bathroom. Dogs give signals saying that they need to eliminate. If you dog is giving these signals, let your dog out immediately and if she goes to the bathroom, praise her.I prefer the reward method. Our Italian greyhound was peeing wherever. We began giving her a small treat when she did the right thing in the right place. She is now 2 and comes to tell us after she's finished so she can claim her treat. She stands ,leans on our legs and drums her paws on our knees, with a very excited look in her eyes. I say."Did you do a good thing? I knew it , I knew you would!!".....,then you have to go and have a look and fold up the newspaper she used; she stands beside you as you are doing this, then she charges off to the treat jar. Since we used this method she has never made a mistake. You must erase a former mistake with 50% white vinegar and water in an old spray Bottle or ANTI-Icky -Poo spray. She uses a large cat box with free newspapers on the bottom. good luck.

What are the personalities of dogs?

as with humans, dogs all have varying personalities. but if you are asking about breeds in general, from my personal experience; Old English Sheepdogs are very good with children and quite placid, pugs are very excitable although they can be difficult to train and some, granted not all pit bulls have an aggressive streak but watching one puncture a family members head is not fun.

i hope that this answered your question, and if not, your local grooming shop or pet shop should tell you whatever else you need to know.

If a dog comes on your property and your dog attacks it are you responsible?

Yes, unless the other dog has an owner and the owner said that it was his fault. If its a stray dog just take it to the vet and tell them what happened, you shouldn't get in trouble unless the other dog has an owner and decides to press charges against you.
