How do you make your dog stop barking?
Consider carefully the cause of the dog's barking before choosing a solution. The wrong technique can actually exacerbate the barking problem. For example, if a dog barks because of nervousness or separation anxiety, a shock collar will tend to reinforce the dog's belief that the world is a dangerous and scary place, thereby increasing the dog's barking. See the link below to the Dumb Animal's League for information on the cause of barking and choosing an appropriate treatment accordingly.
The Safest Way To Stop Dogs Barking: Training
I am a part time dog trainer and i think the best way to get a dog to stop barking is to train it to bark! It seems silly but it is totally effective! if you train the dog to bark on command it will only do it when you ask it to. Alternatively you could figure out what causes the dog to bark e.g. the door bell therefore when the door bell rings train the dog to use it as a cue to do something else like go on its bed so when the door bell rings the dog will go onto its bed instead of barking! simple! :D
I hope people will understand the importance of using positive reinforcement rather than scolding or harming dogs!
Another (Safe) Alternative to Prevent Your Dog From Barking
A dog parent can also try safe ultrasonic bark control. When your dog barks the ultrasonic bark control unit emits a high frequency sound that only your dog can hear. Each dog bark triggers the bark control unit to emit the sound. The dog will stop barking when he/she hears it. Soon the dog will realize that their barking causes the uncomfortable noise and will stop barking. The ultrasonic bark control is not recommended in a house with cats since they are also able to hear the high frequency sound.
There are two types of Safe Ultrasonic Bark Controls: Indoor and Outdoor. The Indoor Bark Control unit sits on any flat surface in your house. The Outdoor Bark Control looks like a Birdhouse and can be placed on any outside tree. The device not only looks great for your outdoor decor but an added benefit is controls not only your dog from barking but also your neighbor's barking dog. The Indoor Bark Control unit can be controlled manually or automatically. Manually means you will press the button when you hear your dog bark. Automatic means the device will emit the sound when it picks up the dog bark.
Anti-Bark Collars
First remember that anti-bark collars will NOT fix the problem by themselves. They are a training aid which will be only as effective as the training support you give them. Failure to praise immediately and genuinely the instant the dog stops barking will result in failure to teach the dog not to bark.
There are three basic types of anti-bark collars: shock, ultrasonic, and citronella. Shock collars emit a small current when the dog barks, somewhat similar to a zap of static electricity (depending on the settings on the collar). Ultrasonic collars emit a high pitched sound when the dog barks. This sound is above the hearing range of humans, but not dogs. The citronella collar sprays a mist of citronella scent toward the dog's nose when he barks.
In a comparison of effectiveness of each of these three types of collar, studies have shown that the relative effectiveness of each is:
20% ultrasonic anti-bark collar
44% shock anti-bark collar
89% citronella anti-bark collar
The main drawback of ultrasonic collars in that any dog in range receives the signal even if they weren't the one barking.
The main drawback of shock collars is that some types of barking are exacerbated by the shocks.
The main drawback of citronella collars is having to refill the collar with citronella periodically.

How do you train a dog to be less possessive over food?
This takes a lot of training and a lot of discipline. When dogs are puppies it is a good idea to take away their food while they are eating and then give it back. Also, feeding a dog by hand sometimes will lessen the amount of food aggression they have. For toys, train your dog to give up their toy to you when on command, like drop it. This is make it so you can easily get the toy from the dog, during early training it is good to give the toy back, so when they drop it they do not associate it with a bad thing.
What is the best way to restore hard wood after carpet has been laid on top and dogs have soiled it?
the best way would be to sand/buff it then stain then clear coat(may take multiple coats allow 24-30 hours in between) keep area super clean the whole time. its alot of work but its the best way.
sometimes you have a dent in the wood or a gougeor a splint-rip or a simple blunt dip. first you need to know how good you want others to see it as-- and then decide on the method of repair. when issuing questions like this one it is good to allow e-mail so that you can mail photos to show --and you can then get much better answers.
you can fix it-- so-so ,or OK,- or Good - or excellent its up to you and your likings
you can't just sand down a gouge-- gouges are usually filled-in and sanded. or gouged sections are cut out and replaced with new or filler pieces.
Most dents & dips can be raised with a water sponge by just placing a wet sponge over the dip or dent and waiting a while. some dips and dents could swell in 1/2 hour to 1 hour or ( sometimes over night for most hardwoodwoods such as brazillian wallnut, Mahogony, Oak, Maple + others) -- the wood will absorb the water and swell up again and then you can sand it to level the wood surface for smootheness and top coating.
when you sand wood you may need to sand an 18 inch section just to level and repair a 6 inch area. wood cannot be sanded constantly in the same spot in just one area-- you will create a dip in the wood that will then be irreparable. You will need to overstep your sidelines considerably when sanding to keep that even -flat look to the wood.
Splint-rip-- when a splinter of wood raises and you pull it up and create a worse scenario for your wood surface. This is when you have real trouble and the section may need to be cut out and replaced PERIOD. The good thing about wood is-- it can be manipulated to be what you want it to be if you know your tools and know how to use them to your advantage.
OR-- you can sand the entire surface using a 60 grit paper then an 80, then a 100, then a 220-- remember to let the machine do the work and constantly moving in long strokes. Good Luck.
- Before you start sanding, cleaning cutting take time and a little cost to purchase a small metal detector. These are on sale in most good buiders suppliers and diy stores afor about £10.00 ($15.00) The cost is well offset when you come to saveing the blades of a saw and the belts of a sander or planner later on.
Can a dog bark with a bone in his or her mouth?
Yes. A dog can bark with a bone in it's mouth. Because the mouth is already open, it just has to work the vocal chords.
Why do dogs bark at some people and not at others?
Firstly dogs will bark to warn their owners that someone that does not belong at their home is present. Then if their owners know the people quite often they will bark in excitement and to say, hey if my owners know you then you need to know me to (basically to be centre of attention) and all of this is acceptable. It is when they continue to bark after a short period of time then this needs attention and training to say it is not acceptable.
Do Service Dogs bark at people for no reason?
Yes, they usually do. Dogs always protect thir territory and signal anything which is out of the usual picture.
Redness in urine usually indicates blood, which is never a good sign.
Take your dog to the vet as soon as possible, and have them checked out.
Can you put a bark collar and invisible fence collar on at the same time?
No. In my opinion, no electronic collars should be used on dogs, at any setting, except by professional dog trainers who are very experienced with using these tools to achieve a certain response from a dog. It is just too easy for an inexperienced person to injure a dog, physically or emotionally, by using an e-collar. There are much safer means available for training your dog, and if you want to provide a safe play area for your pet, build a fence around your yard.
How do you train your dog to say i love you?
Well my family praises them and gives them treats it helps to encourage them 1st repeat "I love you" and let it try to say it otherwise try to say it with a kind of doggish way for your dog to understand this might take some practice for some dogs
Your dog always barks at other dogs when walking?
This is because your dog wants to say hi and play. If you want to stop this behavior, then i would invest in a gentle leader. Whenever you go on walks, have your dog wear the gentle leader. When your dog barks, give the leash a sharp tug and say no. Once your dog stops barking, give your dog a treat and some praise. The first time you dogs sees another dog and doesnt bark make a big deal out of it and give him lots of treats and lots of praise, so he knows what he did was exactly what you wanted.
How do you train an adopted dog to poop outdoors?
Consistency. Feed at regular times, then take the dog outside about 1/2 HR later. Do not allow dog unlimited access to water in the evening, Let the dog have a little drink after it's last walk , then put food and water bowls up , and make sure the toilet is not an available water source. If a dog leaves you a little " surprise " while your out, don't scold it. It will not know why it's in trouble. If you see the dog looking for a spot to go, grab the leash and get outside fast. Praise doggie effusively when it goes while outside, and give a small treat. If you train a dog on newspaper, it will look for newspaper outside unless s/he gets the scent of another dog.
Why does your puppy cry when he is sleeping?
Because if they start crying, they might have felt something bad or they didnt get any attention the whole day. Probably misses its mommy. Dreaming about someone hurting it. :( Our dogs cry all the time in their sleep and we would like to know too.
How do you teach my pom to get in the position of playin dead?

How do i train my two chihuahuas to stop being mean to the new puppy?
Don't pick it up when it is around the big dog (this will encourage dominant behavior). Try spraying the same perfume on yourself and both dogs (to get them to think they are in the same pack). Gently push the little dog onto its side when it is being mean to the big dog and hold it there for a few seconds while acting displeased. Encourage all neutral and good behavior toward the bigger dog with treats and praise. Be patient, ... dog training takes a long time.
Not all dogs understand English, because they have to be taught English. Stray dogs, or dogs that do not know any tricks, do not understand any kind of English (except for their name if they are not stray). It is all a matter if they were taught it or not.
They do not. Yes many dogs are trained and they know what people are saying, by our facial expressions and the tone of our voice. Even though some dogs know what we are saying without having training.
What does a dog training certificate look like?
There is no such thing. All we got was the paper we signed when we picked up our guide dog.. And it has a metal tag with the well known Guide dog School and their phone number. the dog has a Tatoo in it ear??? and is chipped . other than that there is not a certificate you can carry with you.
What cleans dog faeces out of carpet?
This is not an easy prospect, but the best you can do is clean as much of the excrement from the carpet as possible with paper towel or disposable rags. When this is done, take a solution of Masengil feminine wash (must be this brand, nothing else works as well), and saturate the area. Have a wet vacuum ready. with a stiff bristle brush, move from the outside in, making the spot smaller as you work. Keep spraying the area, brushing, and vacuuming until all of the excrement is gone. Allow the area to dry. If you notice a stain or smell remains, repeat the process.
Incidentally, the product noted above will remove skunk scent and rodent urine from just about anything as well.

How do you stop a dog from peeing when she gets excited?
My dog also did that, but then she seemed to get used to me coming home and stopped peeing when she got exited, they skip that stage after a month or too. It also helps if you approach them slowly and not speak until you bend and then pet them
You have to start talking to him before you get to close to him. And actually at five months he's a bit young. They just do that. Make sure you speak in a very gental way. Don't yell or he'll always do that.
Lack of ConfidenceTypically the "excited" urination is just a result of a lack of confidence. Enroll your pup in a puppy preschool class somewhere that specializes in opperant conditioning, clicker training, or kindness training... A class that allows supervised play time off leash, and encourages you to visit with everyones puppies. The more people and dogs he meets, and the more things he learns, the more his confidence will grow. :)As a trainer I see this on a regular basis, and I see dogs who become confident, outgoing, and much happier as classes go on.
Good luck with your pupper.

A kid is allowed to walk a dog at age 4 as long as a adult is around. But if adult is not around then you have to be 10 and up to walk a dog. But if is a big dog then you must be 12 and up. But if it is a very little dog and if a parent is around then you can be 1 and up to walk the little dog.
How do you cure Separation Anxiety with dogs?
it is a good thing to go to the vet but you know what you should maybe try a little trick i use on my dog, well you lay them on their side and press them down until they lie still when you take your hand off and then turn on classical music really loud and just let them lay there for 1 hour and that should be good!
How do you pee train your puppy?
If your pup is eliminating in its crate, the crate may be too big. It should only be large enough for the dog to turn around and lay down. The theory is that he won't mess where he lives. When you leave home give the dog time to go outside. Make sure that he is in the spot that you want him to use. This should be the same spot EVERY time. Then when you get home take him DIRECTLY to the spot that he is to use. When he does, praise him and pet him. NEVER hit your dog for any reason. NEVER rub his nose in it. NEVER call him to you and then hit him. This will teach the dog not to come to you. Each time you leave the house or put him in the crate for over night (or what ever), take him RIGHT to the potty spot. I have used this method for my last two dogs and have had great success. My dogs were trainer in days. Papers didn't work and neither did wee-wee pads. if you still need advice, ask your vet or humane society
Why does the puppy cry so much at night?
If it is separated with it parents then it probaly misses them and its sisters. It is also maybe wondering what is going on and where it is. It will just take atleast 3 weeks for the puppy to be used to you.
What is the best method to potty train my beagle puppies?
You can't train a dog to "go",but you can train it to go outside.
You can relly train any type of dog with this method:
take your dog for frequent walks to let them sense new things so they will leave there sent, lets just say. When your dog goes say a word that will trigger that like pee or well, anything really.Remember never leave your dog in your yard forever because there isn't anything to sent so he won't "go".Always praise your dog for going outside to do it's buissness.Never punish your dog for going inside,it won't help anything.
How do you potty train puppies while you are home during the day?
Get a crate for the puppy but get one with a moveable divider and keep it so they have enough room to be comfy laying down but not enough room that they can go in a corner and not have to sit in it but they won't be able to go for more than 4 hrs 5 max without bein let out reward them when they go outside with small chewy treats like bil jacs bites that's how I trained my puppy and she's 2 and hasn't had an accident in months.
