Is a Dominican Republic Divorce recognized in Pennsylvania?
The general rule is that a Dominican Republic divorce as well as any foreign divorce, either from a sister state (i.e. NY, FL, MI, MA) or foreign country (UK, Canada, Dom. Rep.) could be recognized in the State of Pennsylvania if the divorce was obtained: with due process, the court had personal and subject matter jurisdiction, without fraud, and there is no violation of the public policy rules of Pennsylvania. However, your best shoot is to contact an experienced attorney in divorce laws and recognition of foreign divorces licensed to practice in the state of Pennsylvania. I recommend you to contact a member of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers www.iaml.org or the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. www.aaml.org. Bees in the Dominican Republic?
Yes, there are certainly bees in the DR and they are ferocious. The ones you really need to watch out for are the wasps, (avispas) which are nasty, ill-tempered, and sting crazy. My friend was stung by a wasp sitting outside drinking coffee with sugar in it, and wound up in the emergency clinic with a reaction. I was driving a car with the windows open and a wasp flew in and crawled down the back of my shirt and bit the living crap out of me. It is not like an American sting: it is a serious bite that caused serious pain for the better part of 24 hours. Locals say that soaking a cloth in milk and applying it to the affected area will draw out the venom.
