Dragonfly has many lenses in it's eye. Probably nature thought that many lenses are required to see many objects. So it is probably natures experiment in evolution of eye. You have single lens in each eye of more evolved animals.

This morning 9-28-08, I was sitting out in the backyard with my coffee just as the sun was starting to lighten the sky and noticed the silhouette of a dragonfly on my yucca tree. I watched him for about 10 minutes wondering if he were sleeping or dead...he wasn't moving at all even though there was a nice breeze. I finally went in for my digital camera and got 3 shots of him before my cat shook the yucca tree chasing a lizard and he flew away. He definitely wasn't dead! From my observations, I believe dragonflies do sleep in trees.

In this case I'm inclined to think the dragonflies seem to be following you because you (as a warmblooded creature) are a natural draw for mosquitoes, and as mosquitoes are the food of dragonflies, they may just be hanging around for lunch.
