Why do we have the Easter bunny?

The Catholic Encyclopedia: "A great many pagan customs, celebrating the return of spring, gravitated to Easter. The egg is the emblem of the germinating life of early spring. . . . The rabbit is a pagan symbol and has always been an emblem of fertility."-(1913), Vol. V, p. 227.

Why do we have the Easter Bunny?

The American Book of Days: "There is no doubt that the Church in its early days adopted the old pagan customs and gave a Christian meaning to them. As the festival of Eostre was in celebration of the renewal of life in the spring it was easy to make it a celebration of the resurrection from the dead of Jesus, whose gospel they preached."

Therefore it was NOT Jehovah God; but it was 'The Church' which adoped the pagan bunny symbol, and conveniently gave it a Bible meaning; in order to appease and intigrate pagans into an adulterated form of Christianity. The early disciples did not view the Easter bunny as an approved symbol for Christianity.

Is alive the Easter cantata written by joe e parks still in print?

As far as I know Alive by Joe E Parks is not in print anymore. But the United Methodist Church that I go to has 24 Alive cantata books and the accompaniment cassette. I also know of another church who has more Alive cantata books. We have decided to do this cantata again this year (2009) after having not done it in 20 years. But now I wonder if this will be a mistake. The accompaniment cassette sounds "a little off"; not what I would call high fidelity anymore. Plus, in general, the accompaniment sounds dated, like from the 70's! I couldn't, at times, help thinking of background music for Disney cartoons, or TV commercials of the 60's and 70's!! I have already burned a CD from the cassette. If anyone is interested, I have set up an email address dedicated to anyone interested in obtaining books or accompaniment. Don't worry, I'm not out to profit, just want to help. Please...NO SPAM, only serious requests. Thanks.
