What are the causes of numbness and pain the right shoulder?
Sounds like an inflamed nerve in your upper back... A branch of the long thoracic nerve located is at the upper (& inner) edge of your shoulder blade (scapula). Have someone press in that area and see if it reproduces the symptoms. Id so, a lidocaine/steroid injection can solve the problem... An orthopedic doctor or neurologist can treat this (or a really good Family Practice doc)...
Endometrial tissue lines the uterus. Each month, in tune with the menstrual cycle, the endometrial tissue thickens and is shed during menstruation.
If you have endometriosis, it means that the same kind of tissue that lines your uterus is also growing in other parts of your body, usually in the abdomen. This can cause scar tissue to build up around your organs.
Endometriosis may cause severe pain and abnormal bleeding, usually around the time of your period. Pain during intercourse is another common symptom. However, it is possible to have endometriosis and not have any symptoms.
Endometriosis is a leading cause of infertility(inability to get pregnant). Often it is not diagnosed until a woman has trouble getting pregnant.
Why would you have a fever every night?
Could you have endometriosis if you already have a child?
Yes.
Having a child does not protect you from endometriosis.
While having endometriosis often makes becoming pregnant difficult for women, becoming pregnant will also reduce the symptoms of endometriosis.
So, being diagnosed with endometriosis after having a child makes it rather difficult for your doctor to determine whether you had endometriosis prior to the pregnancy or if it became an issue post-pregnancy - especially if you were positively diagnosed with endometriosis shortly after giving birth.
Who is likely to have endometriosis?
There are several things that have said to be the cause of endometriosis. Although endometriosis can occur at pretty much any time in a woman's reproductive life, the most common ages are from twenty five to twenty nine. Some studies show that it is thought to be a hereditary factor. When a woman is exposed to increased menstruation, her possibility of developing endometriosis is higher. Also, a woman who experienced long and heavy menstrual periods before having children might be more susceptible to endometriosis. Obesity is another factor that can affect the possibility of developing the disease
To say that you are going to "send something" in past tense is as "sent."
"You should've gotten your purchase. I sent it to the address you provided to me as soon as I got your e-mail" is how to use sent in a proper past tense sentence.
What are the symptoms of endometriosis?
Most women who have endometriosis, in fact, do not have symptoms. Of those who do experience symptoms,
The common symptomsof endometriosis are pain (usually pelvic) and infertility. Pelvic pain usually occurs during or just before menstruation and lessens after menstruation. Some women experience painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia) or cramping during intercourse, and or/pain during bowel movements and/or urination. Even pelvic examination by a doctor can be painful. The pain intensity can change from month to month, and vary greatly among women. Some women experience progressive worsening of symptoms, while others can have resolution of pain without treatment. Just get the treatment as soon as possible . The Fuyan pill can help the women to cure it .
Unfortunately some endometrioses patients may be completely asymptomatic while others experience emotional and physical pain that is almost unbearable. For those who are not asymptomatic, the patients may experience anywhere from one to all of the following symptoms: pain before and during periods, pain with intercourse, general, chronic pelvic pain through the month, low back pain, heave and/or irregular periods, painful bowel movements, painful urination during menstruation, fatigue, infertility, diarrhea or constipation, nausea and vomiting, headaches, pain during intercourse, low-grade fevers, depression, hypoglycemia, anxiety and increased susceptibility to infections or allergies . According to Harvard Women's Health Watch, the most common symptom that most women experience with endometriosis is severe menstrual cramps, gastrointestinal problems, and pain during intercourse . Women who experience postpartum endometriosis, generally have different symptoms than those who develop endometriosis naturally. Their symptoms are generally fever, increased pulse, chills, anorexia, nausea, fatigue and lethargy, pelvic pain, uterine tenderness and/or foul smelling. Some women may also become anemic. Within 36 to 48 hours, blood cultures should reveal any evidence of endometriosis.
What if your pain only hurts once in a while in the right side?
Your description doesn't have enough detail for me to answer your question.
If it's mild and infrequent pain, don't worry about it.
More severe and/or persistent pain warrants a trip to the doctor.
If the woman is 65, she has had endometriosis for decades. At 65, she would be post menopausal. Endometriosis symptoms flare up with normal monthly cycles in women. If she no longer has normal cycles - and at 65 she shouldn't - why do anything at all? The time to treat endometriosis has passed by that age.
How effective are birth control pills in treating endometriosis?
Birth control hormones are likely to keep endometriosis from getting worse. If you have severe symptoms or if birth control hormones and NSAIDs don't work, you might try a stronger hormone therapy.
Where could one find information regarding Endometriosis treatment?
One should always consult a doctor before researching a medical condition online. Endomeetriosis treatment can be found online Clear Passage, Cleveland Clinic and WebMd.
What is the differences between endometriosis and endometrial cancer?
To answer this question we first have to delve into the arcane world for latin (and medicine). Feel free to skip the next two bullet points, and get to the answer (I don't mind). * -osis. Noun. meaning, a growth. * -carcinoma. Noun. Meaning, a "bad" growth. The endometrium is periodically found in the female reproductive tract, and forms the nuturing, nutirient and blood-rich layer upon which a baby may attach (via the placenta). This layer is normally shed within a 28-day cycle (Menses) if fertilization and implantation of the ova (egg) have not occured. Endometriosis refers to the benign (yet maybe still painful and problematic) condition of "growth" of the endometrial cells. Normally these guys are supposed to live only in the uterus, and should only survive for about 4 weeks. Occasionally, a cell or two gets outside of the uterus, and will, "set up shop" wherever it lands. This could be on the ovary, the fallopian tube, the uterus, or anywhere else in the abdominal cavity. Since they're deprived of the normal signals the rest of the endometrium (living quietly within the uterus) receives, they may continue to grow. Generally, when this happens, however, they grow neatly, and orderly. Endometrial Carcinoma, in contrast, occurs when these cells loose the instruciton to die, or are otherwise genetically dammaged. They still can exist anywhere, but are more likely to wreak havoc on those cells surrounding them. A general search for "cancer" on this site will likely find an article I wrote awhile back about cancer...it's a disease of the DNA.
You might want to visit an MD, this is a typical sign of RLS (Restless leg syndrome) or PVD (Peripheral Vascular Disease) Clearly the blood is not flowing properly, This could also mean a potential blood clot- I n that case you will need to be given blood thinners.
It means that a type of tissue that lines your uterus is also growing outside your uterus. This does not always cause symptoms. And it usually isn't dangerous. But it can cause pain and other problems.
There are a number of treatments available. They include surgery to remove the endo, pain medications, drugs that affect the hormonal system, herbal medicine of Fuyan Pill, and hysterectomy.
typically liver failure. which leads to an obstruction of the portal vein. the fluid must go somewhere & the abdominal cavity is convient. talk to your md. ascites isn't trivial.
Is Lupron an effective treatment for endometriosis?
There are basically 3 ways to cure Endometriosis. They are: Pain Medication, Hormonal Therapy and Surgery. Lupron falls under Hormonal Therapy. There's no special cure for Endometriosis but, these are the methods to reduce and relieve the pain symptoms. Check out the below mentioned link for more information on Endometriosis Treatment. Hope i have answered your question.
What is Allen-Masters defect or syndrome as a result of endometriosis?
As I understand it, and I am not a doctor, it is severe scarring from endometriosis that leads to a hole in the uterus. At least this is how it was explained to me when I was diagnosed with it.
----
Not quite.
There is NO hole in your uterus.
In Allen-Masters, you have broken the tissue (think of it like skin) that stabilizes your uterus and holds it in one place in your pelvis. Without that tissue holding it in place, your lower uterus (and your cervix and vagina below the uterus) can wiggle around as you move while the rest of the uterus is fixed. This stretching and jolting of the cervix hurts!
See this drawing to get an idea of what your uterus looks like.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Gray1161.png
See your uterus -- that big ball in the center that's sitting on the vagina (which looks like a tube)? Now see the "Broad ligament" on either side that looks like its taping the uterus in place? Well imagine a great big hole in that bottom part of that ligament. The uterus is no longer taped down and it moves.
Holes in the ligament usually come from surgical trauma or old wounds. You can easily break the ligament from delivery or, very rarely, from induced abortion (especially if incompetent/unskilled person filled the vagina with too much gauze after the procedure). A very similar set of symptoms can come from endometriosis.
So to even consider Allen-masters as a diagnosis, you need (1) an overly mobile cervix, (2) A uterus that has lost its support and is pointing the wrong direction, and it helps to have (3) a history of trauma to the pelvis -- by which I mean childbirth etc. Some people would say that the damage caused by endometriosis is close enough to lump it in as trauma to the pelvis.
Symptoms are:
1. Long-lasting pelvic pain
2. Menstrual changes of many kinds
3. Pain with sex
**Note that not EVERYONE with these symptoms has Allen-masters. These are VERY VERY COMMON symptoms in many diseases. This disease is rare.
You can try to treat it surgically. Its a difficult fix.
There can be any of various infections, most commonly it is caused by a fungus called tinea cruris, or more commonly called jock itch. Some strains of the fungus is highly resistant to most medications. Many men can get this and it's usually because men will perspire more in this area. If you aren't wearing cotton underwear start! Synthetic underwear (too tight underwear) will cause sweating and cause all sorts of problems. There is relief! Go to your pharmacy and ask for Epsom Salts. This is not like regular salt and WILL NOT sting. Take 2 cups of Epson Salts and pour boiling water in to dissolve Epsom Salt Crystals. Then pour this into a TEPID BATH (body temp.) Lay back and relax for approx. 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. Be sure to dry the area between your butt cheeks VERY WELL. Do this 3 times a week for 2 weeks and you should feel relief from the very first soak in Epsom Salts. This has been used for many things such as healing wounds to getting steel slivers out of fingers to infections from a sore toe or finger. Then use Polysporim cream (can also be found at the drug store) and apply between the butt cheeks. This will help heal and take any infection away.
