What type of euthanasia is legal in Canada?
== If you go by strict definitions, then passive euthanasia is legal in Canada. Passive euthanasia is when one stops providing treatment, even if it means death. Sometimes, it is better to let nature take its course, once giving treatment goes from retaining precious life to prolonging a suffering death. Most, if not all, countries realize this and allow patients to refuse medical treatment. In the general sense, active & non-active euthanasia (aka euthanasia and assisted suicide) are not yet legal in Canada. == Technically it is not. However living wills and a few Canadian charter rights do always contradict the matter.
How is euthanasia ethical or non-ethical?
Most people agree that patients suffering from fatal or incurable diseases have the right to apply euthinasia! It's called "The Right to Die"... Huge numbers of cases has undergone euthanasia which has only increased the volumes of graveyards, and decreased the hope for people to enjoy being alive. Laws in most countries forbid this kind of immediate suicide, but people with no experience are still trying to fight these laws until now! Euthinasia is a very hard decision that families take to end the suffering of their beloved patient. This is an advantage of euthanasia that people consider very precious, but, in fact, euthinasia appears to be a dangerous monster facing families every day and driving them to take illogical decisions for their related patients who are unable to defend themselves…
Is euthinasia essential? Is it ethical? Well people say that this is kind of rest for the suffering hopeless patients. Although many theories say that this kind of suicide is essential, a big part of logic states that this is considered steeling the chance of recovery and coming back to normal life from patients! As a matter of fact, it's completely non-ethical and should always be forbidden and illegal! Checking statistics, we find that huge number of people in comas have surprised their relatives by sudden recovery! Many others have died at the end, but at least it was their definite destiny to die and not a selfish decision that someone made for them without their permission.
People may always be asked if they support mercy killing, but has a patient ever been asked this question after experiencing partial death and coming back to life again? In fact, miracles happen! As long as there is a 0.000000…1 % of recovery for a human being, euthinasia should never be allowed as time goes by. One of the most important problems facing the law of forbidding euthinasia is that governments don't completely support their peoples but leave them facing the facts they hate alone. Subsidy should be offered to every person unable to afford the medical costs which will make it easier for people to face the facts and be more patient. Religion here should take place since it also forbids mercy killing. Many religions now consider euthinasia an exact suicide, not more not less. Forbidding this kind of indirect murder will allow millions of people in the world to use their chance to be alife, even if forced to do so. Life changes the way we change it, and it's our decision to keep it normal or consider it miserable after a lucky recovery from a coma, etc…
Wise people understand the benefits of a wise advice! The world doesn't exist because of a coincidence, and so are our lives. Ending them is very wrong, struggling till the end and enjoying them is the best we can do. Losing hope so easily is a phenomenon we should get rid of, otherwise no success in everybody's life may occur. Forbidding euthinasia is so beneficial, and surrendering for lame death isn't a smart thing to do.

Should euthanasia be legalized in your opinion?
Note that mercy killing is a popular term for the termination of a person's life as a humane act. The more formal term is euthanasia or assisted suicide.
Opinion
Mercy killing should be legalized because of the following reasons:
1) The patient is near his or her end.
2) The patient has unendurable pain.
3) All possible ways to avoid the pain have been attempted but are useless.
4) The patient expresses his or her own will to accept mercy, they are never forced.
5) Forcing patients to remain alive against their wishes causes health care expenditures to rise astronomically.
Opinion
First, the word euthanasia comes from the ancient Greek which means "good death". It essentially means mercy killing, or killing someone who does not any longer want to live. This term can also refer to putting an animal to 'sleep', although in this usage it more often means the killing of someone who it is not economically desirable to save.
As to whether or not euthanasia should be legalized, this subject has been the topic of much debate in recent times. In countries such as Switzerland, it is already legal. In the majority of the world, however, it remains illegal. In the U.S., hospitalized patients may refuse life-saving care, but cannot receive doctor assisted suicide. (Euthanasia most commonly is discussed in reference to the terminally ill).
Opinion
Euthanasia should not be legalize. Doctors would kill more people if they had that choice. For example if a patient looks ready to die and they need to free up some time they would most likely pull the plug immediately
Opinion
Yes. Stop the pain and suffering!
I think that euthanasia should be legalized in that cases when the patient himself wants it and when his illness very painful and leads inevitably to death... why should we not let them die if they are afflicted of such unbearable pain?
Opinion
Be careful what you wish for! Today we have access to things like palliative medicine and morphine that relieves, if not completely eliminates, pain. Never before have we had such pain-relievers, and yet the following for legalizing euthanasia keeps growing. Why? Mainly because of a "deadly compassion". Euthanasia is one of those things that sounds good, right? Why should we force someone to live?
The question is, ladies and gentlemen, not why should we force someone to live, but why should we allow doctors to terminate patient's lives? In the Netherlands, already over one thousand people are being euthanized by doctors every year without the consent of the patient. We can, and do make the passing of terminal patients better, and we allow them to refuse medical treatment. Sometimes it is better, unfortunately to allow nature to take its course, once treatment goes from preserving precious life, to prolonging suffering death.
Opinion
The only argument euthanasia has going for it (unless you count "cutting costs") is reduction of pain. We already have that without killing people. Arguments against legalizing this "Death with Dignity" range from this death desensitizing doctors to asking for death shows an illogical workings of the mind. We should instead give counseling and options to reduce pain, not take the Grim Reaper into our own hands.
Within certain limitations and as approved by an appropriate authority, euthanasia is entirely legal in several areas.
Opinion
As to those without it, it seems nonsensical to prolong suffering when there is absolutely no hope left for that person's recovery.
Opinion
It depends on the circumstances, if somebody is going to die in pain and there is no chance of them getting better then it's best that they settle their affairs and choose to die on their own terms rather than wait and suffer.
Opinion
Absolutely. For once, animals have it better than humans do. When your animal gets old and can't live life anymore, we as humans have the right to end their suffering so they don't feel pain anymore. It's disgusting to me that a human is forced to endure a slow painful death rather than a peaceful one at their own timing. Human euthanasia should be legalized but with strict guidelines. If you want to die because you are depressed or whatever, then no. But if you are a terminal cancer patient or in chronic pain due to a disease such as Parkinson's or MD/MS, then yes. You should have the option to end your life at the hands of a trained physician.
Opinion
No. It is immoral.
Opinion
Yes. A person should have the ultimate control over their own life. Many people would choose doctor assisted euthanasia if it was available. In fact, many do. Many dying people have asked a family member or partner for that kind of help and many have honored that request. It has been performed for centuries where family members and family doctors have honored the wish of a dying relative or patient to help end their suffering. The right to die should be as respected as the right to live. It should be a matter of personal choice and should be carried out with all the support necessary to make one's last hours comfortable and safe, and one's passing peaceful. It is widely available in some areas.

Is euthanasia considered a crime in the Netherlands?
No it's not. In fact, Netherlands is the first country which legalized euthanasia. There are very strict rules for euthanasia. And sometimes it's considered a crime. Euthanasia is only legal when someone has to suffer forever and many doctors agree with it. So it's hard to get it in the Netherlands.
Most public health scholars believe that this change has been accelerated by public policy interventions to reduce tobacco use. The research literature suggests that the most potent demand reducing influences on tobacco use have been efforts to increase the financial cost of using tobacco products primarily through taxation, smoke-free policies, comprehensive advertising bans, and paid counter-advertising campaigns. New therapies for treating nicotine dependence and measures to liberalize access to medicinal forms of nicotine have the potential to revolutionize the way societies address the problem of tobacco use in the future. Unfortunately, the economic reality of the tobacco business has hindered public health efforts to curb the use of tobacco products. While government regulation of tobacco products is a worthy goal, capitalism, and not government regulation, most likely holds the greatest potential to rapidly alter the worldwide epidemic of tobacco caused disease. It is up to the public health community to harness the powers of capitalism to speed the development of less dangerous alternatives to the conventional cigarette.
What different cultures think about euthanasia?
Christians are strongly against euthanasia. They believe that only God can take away one's life. For Hindus, they believe that euthanasia will damage the karma of both doctor and patient.
Still talk to your vet. They might have suggestions for you considering your circumstances. Your local humane society or anti-cruelty organization might have options, too.
Ask your vet if you can pay him later. Actually, your dog is close to death already. Friends have told me that this is what happens at the very end.

it should and it shouldn't. it should because it depends if the person wants the procedure to be performed or not. it shouldn't because it goes against some religions about death and if a human should decide how a human must die.

If a older dog hasn't ate for 3 days should he be put down?
Your question does not provide details.
If the dog is under a veterinarian's care and this is an end-of-life situation, talk to your vet. Your vet will let you know if the dog is in pain or distressed. Euthanasia is a very personal decision.
If you haven't taken the dog to the vet, there could be some reason the dog isn't eating that might be remedied.
