Who has had a false negative blood test for pregnancy before and how far along were you when you found out you were in fact pregnant?

Here is some info about the blood test. There is TWO pregnancy blood tests; both have similar names. 1) The Qualiative pregnancy hcg blood test is very similar to a urine pregnancy test. This blood tests works by giving a yes or no answer, instead of measuring the amount of HCG in your blood. For example if you have 50u of HCG in your blood & it will only recognize a positive result at 52U then you will get a negative result. This is ridiculous & especially awful when diagnosing early pregnancy. Especially when you bear in mind that 5U = pregnant. 2) The Quantitative beta hcg blod test is HIGHLY accurate. This test works by measuring the exact amount of HCG in your blood. You need to always write down the name of this blood test & ask your Doctor specifically for it. Always make sure your Doctor has order this blood test & NOT the qualiative.

Phosphate inorganic blood test is positive. I am 65 years old. What does this inorganic blood test have to do with pregnancy?

It is nothing to do with pregnancy. The result is "positive" for phosphate, meaning, presumably, that higher levels of phosphate then normal are being found in the blood. Phosphate is a normal substance in foods which is needed in the body mainly as a constituent of bone. Excess phosphate is normally filtered out of the blood by the kidneys and ends up in the urine. A positive serum phosphate test, which I assume means higher than the normal level, is usually indicative of the kidneys not functioning as efficiently as they used to.

If you think to much of the pregnancy can that effect the results of the pregnancy test?

No. Pregnancy is a biological issue, and no matter what you think (positive or negative), it will not effect the pregnancy test.

Can vicodin give a false positive on a pregnancy test?

No. Pregnancy tests are looking for hCG - a hormone found in the system of women who are pregnant, or very rarely by certain medical conditions - the test is not sensitive to drugs.

If you used water instead of urine on a pregnancy test what would happen?

Nothing. The pregnancy test uses your hormones inside your urine to predict pregnancy. If this hcg hormone is not present, the test will not show you a positive result. The only thing you would see would be the "control line".

Under what circumstances may a false positive result from a pregnancy test be obtained?

An ectopic pregnancy (one in which an embryo implants outside the uterus), certain types of masses (such as an ovarian tumor or a hydatidiform mole ), and the use of some fertility drugs that contain hCG

Clear blue pregnancy test negative but super drug was positive?

Superdrug is a more sensitive test (10miu) meaning it can detect lower levels of hormones (early pregnancy). Clearblue is more like 25miu, meaning you would have to have higher hormone levels (later pregnancy) before it picked it up.

Is it possible for a woman to have low levels of the pregnancy hormone in the first month and therefore pass negative on a blood test?

Yes it happened to me and that negative test is a happy little girl. Take another test in a month, it should read correctly. Go to your doctor and get a blood test and an ultrasound they are much mor reliable than at home tests although at home tests are pretty accurate hope everything works out for you Good luck and God Bless!!!

Can Maxzide cause false positive pregnancy tests?

There is nothing in the product information for Maxzide that indicates the possibility of a false positive on a pregnancy test. Also the drug is a diuretic, which pulls fluid from the body, thus diluting the urine. Since a pregnancy test relies on the presence of hormones in the urine to indicate positive of negative, use of a diuretic may cause a false negative rather than a false positive. If you think you may be pregnant, and you take a diuretic on a routine basis, I would encourage you to see your doctor soon. The use of any medication, especially those taken on a daily basis, should be okayed by a physician familiar with you and your prescriptions. You could also get a musch more accurate blood test to determine pregnancy. Good luck! Mr. Dog RN (I am a nurse, not a doctor, and I don't know you from a hole in the wall. Your health is your business, not mine. I want to help you with your questions, but I can be wrong. The opinions and advice I may offer are just that, opinion and advice. Please see your doctor so (s)he can tell you how full of crap I might be. And whatever happens, don't sue me.)

How could a home pregnancy test show positive if three days later you started your period?

Maybe your home pregnancy test is not accurate. It is thought that about 40% of pregnancies are 'lost' with the first period. Until the last few years there was no way of knowing you were pregnant before missing a period so this did not happen.
