pregnancy tests are only 99% accurate. this means that there is still a possibilty that it is incorrect. although it is highly unlikely that you are pregant if you tested negative three times, it still might be a good idea to see your doctor and have him/her test you for pregnancy if you have missed your periods and are suffering from any pregnancy symptoms such as spotting blood, breast tenderness, morning sickness, nausea or bloating. but i wouldn't worry too much if the only reason you think you may be pregnant is just because you have missed a few periods. this is not unusual and is quite common amongst teens and women. either way, a visit to your doctor should put your mind at ease.

There are a few contributing factors that can give you a false pregnancy test reading negative when you really are pregnant (medications, timing of the test, etc.). If they are all positive you are going to have to tell your parents eventually but to help you out you might want to remain calm and to keep your parents calm you might want to say something like this "Look, mom, dad I know you had big plans for me and wanted me to grow up with certain expectations but I have made some mistakes in my life and I need you to be supportive about this." Then announce in whatever fashion you wish that you are pregnant then add, " but I don't need you to be angry about this, at least if you are going to be angry please don't be angry while around me. I realize I may have made a mistake or I at least wasn't ready for this yet. But if all I feel is anger from you and the family that is probably going to cause some resentment from me toward my baby. And I don't want that. Everything is going to be okay, even though I don't know exactly how yet. Just please be supportive of this. it sounds like you experienced a miscarriage- im very sorry for your loss- but i could be wrong. i would follow up with another blood test just to be sure- however if they gave you a beta (blood test) and it was negative- the blood tests are usually very accurate- than you may very well have miscarried. I am 4 weeks pregnant and had symptoms very early on but every test I took was negative because I was testing too early (I'm a bit impatient as this is my first pregnancy). Her doctor told her that a urine test would not come back positive for her, and that she would always need to have a blood test to check for pregncny. That was four years ago, but when she took a home pregnancy test last month it too came back negative, when she in fact was pregnant. Hi, I too went to the health dept and had 2 tests taken, they didnt even wait a full 5 mins before telling me they were negative and by the time I got to my van they were both positive! I went back in and the dummies said the lines were to faint to be considered positive, but I took the tests to my dr and they said they were positive! So yes they can be wrong and this also happened with my last child who is now 6. Health dept's suck!

If you mean the exact same testing paper was used then it could be a false positive. Most tests have a window of time in which they should be read, and reading it before or after this can be misleading.
If you mean the same brand of test was used, then it almost certainly is a positive result. The hCG that the test picks up if a baby is present increases very rapidly each day, so it is possible it didn't pick it up earlier. This would be especially so if your period isn't due yet.
If you are at or past your period's due date, then it would be hard to tell which result is right. You could retest using a reputable brand - the cheaper ones are sometimes unreliable - or see a doctor to get a more reliable result.

you should never read a pregnancy test after the amount of time it says in the instructions, some tests have something called an evaporation line that can appear as the test dries up inside after a couple of hours. your best bet would be to retest again in the morning, using your first urine of the day!
