Yes you can. I'm 18 and 3 months pregnant. I was starting off with my regular periods but, out of the blue my periods just stopped for 6 months I took a home pregnancy test(hpt) it came out negative. So I went to the doctor to get a blood test done and found out I was 3 MONTHS PREGO I asked my doctor why did I have a negative result and it was because my hcg levels were not high enough for the hpt to detect the pregnancy. I would say u r pregnant. I took 3 hpt's & went to my doc. within that hour & their test were neg. I am 6 months pregnant now. You can get false neg. for a lot of reasons. Mine was because I wasn't even late for my period yet & I sat in the doctors office drinking 2 cups of water which deluted my urine so the hormone wasn't detected. Later I took 11 more hpt's & all faint pos. All were first response.

Defanitly. not all pregnancy tests are valid. it could be because of the experasion date, if yu take the test to early before ur missed period, if yu pee to much or not enough. If yu take more then one test and they all come out faint i advise yu to take a free walk in pregnancy test at a clinic just to be safe.

pregnancy tests are only 99% accurate. this means that there is still a possibilty that it is incorrect. although it is highly unlikely that you are pregant if you tested negative three times, it still might be a good idea to see your doctor and have him/her test you for pregnancy if you have missed your periods and are suffering from any pregnancy symptoms such as spotting blood, breast tenderness, morning sickness, nausea or bloating. but i wouldn't worry too much if the only reason you think you may be pregnant is just because you have missed a few periods. this is not unusual and is quite common amongst teens and women. either way, a visit to your doctor should put your mind at ease.

But to make sure it is as accurate as possible be sure to use your morning urine if possible. Whatever you do don't drink a tone of fluids just so you can urinate to do the test. False negatives are usually caused by testing too early. Either you are testing too soon before your period is due, or you had an irratic cycle and ovulated late and it's just too early to pick up the pregnancy hormone. Some women online have taken multiple tests and gotten negatives, then later got a positive.. it was just too early.

Some infections in the kidney can cause false positive dipstick test results but not false negative.

it sounds like you experienced a miscarriage- im very sorry for your loss- but i could be wrong. i would follow up with another blood test just to be sure- however if they gave you a beta (blood test) and it was negative- the blood tests are usually very accurate- than you may very well have miscarried. Yes, you may just be taking the test too early. I am 4 weeks pregnant and had symptoms very early on but every test I took was negative because I was testing too early (I'm a bit impatient as this is my first pregnancy). It wasn't until one day before I was to start my period that I got a definitive positive on my HPT. If you haven't missed your period yet, wait and then test again. Good luck.

Yes. You can have a home pregnancy test that comes back negative. In fact my older sister took many pregnancy test that came back negative when she was in fact pregnant. Her doctor told her that a urine test would not come back positive for her, and that she would always need to have a blood test to check for pregncny. That was four years ago, but when she took a home pregnancy test last month it too came back negative, when she in fact was pregnant. I would recommend that you go to the doctor and have a blood test done to confirm that you are or are not pregnant

Hello, I took a home test too and it came out positive, so I went to health department and their test came out netgative. So I went to see my family Dr. and I was 2 weeks pregnancy. Hi, I too went to the health dept and had 2 tests taken, they didnt even wait a full 5 mins before telling me they were negative and by the time I got to my van they were both positive! I went back in and the dummies said the lines were to faint to be considered positive, but I took the tests to my dr and they said they were positive! So yes they can be wrong and this also happened with my last child who is now 6. Health dept's suck!

If you mean the exact same testing paper was used then it could be a false positive. Most tests have a window of time in which they should be read, and reading it before or after this can be misleading.

If you mean the same brand of test was used, then it almost certainly is a positive result. The hCG that the test picks up if a baby is present increases very rapidly each day, so it is possible it didn't pick it up earlier. This would be especially so if your period isn't due yet.

If you are at or past your period's due date, then it would be hard to tell which result is right. You could retest using a reputable brand - the cheaper ones are sometimes unreliable - or see a doctor to get a more reliable result.

The morning after pill or emergency contraception will not effect the outcome of a pregnancy test. If you have taken emergency contraception and have had a positive home pregnancy test you are very likely pregnant and should see a Dr.

you should never read a pregnancy test after the amount of time it says in the instructions, some tests have something called an evaporation line that can appear as the test dries up inside after a couple of hours. your best bet would be to retest again in the morning, using your first urine of the day!
