In order to treat a burn on your hand it is important to know what type of burn it is. A superficial burn (known as a first degree burn) should be placed under cool running water. A full-thickness burn (known as a third degree burn) is a serious medical condition and 911 should be called.

A compression fracture occurs when the normal vertebral body of the spine is squished, or compressed, to a smaller height. This injury tends to happen in two groups of people. First, are patients who are involved in traumatic accidents. When a load placed on the vertebrae exceeds its stability, it may collapse. This is commonly seen after a fall. The second, and much more common, group of patients are those with osteoporosis.
Which pressure point stops severe bleeding of upper leg?
The best way to stop bleeding in the upper leg is through direct pressure. Apply a thick bandage and bind this with a crepe bandage.
Elevate the leg to make it harder for the blood to pump. This controls the bleeding fairly effectively. Seek for medical attention urgently if an artery is damaged. This may cause death fast if prompt medical attention is not sought.

Which alcohol use to clean wounds?
Alcohol is not the best choice for cleaning wounds. The reasons are that it's very painful for the patient, and unless you completely submerge the affected area, it's not very effective as a germicide. Alcohol is used more for disinfection instruments and sometimes the unbroken skin of a topical location prior to injection. Depending on the size of what you're disinfection, you can do the following: * For large open wounds, flushing with sterile saline works great. If the wound is infected, you can also fluch with antibiotics, but this is more of an inpatient treatment. * For small wounds, Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) 3 percent solution works very well. The good things about this antiseptic are that it loses that exrta oxygen atom as part of disinfecting, and all that remains is water, so it won't stain and will evaporate without leaving a residue. In clinical tests, it was rated as the most effective/deadly to germs of the topical antiseptics. The only problem is that oxydation also can injure healthy cells. Also, while Hydrogen peroxide can be safely used in the mouse (3%, spit it out when you're done), it should be kept away from other sensitive areas. If you have to use alcohol, you need one that has a relative high percentage of alcohol in the bottle. The minimum is 40% (or 80 proof). If you have to use ethanol (drinking alcohol), use vodka -- no additional stuff to cmplicate the procedure. Again though, alcohol is not the best to clean wounds.

Should you eat after a knock to the head?
It's very important to take care of a complex concussion with making sure you are roused every few hours or so from sleep. If you start feeling things like confusion or have severe nausea/vomiting, you make sure to DEMAND a CT scan be done of your head. NOT an MRI...but a CT scan to check for any bleeds on the brain. An MRI will not always pick those up. Also...NO aspirin products! Tylenol based products only if you develop a headache while at home. You need to get a LOT of rest. Be aware that it can take a couple of weeks to fully recover from a complex concussion...so you have to take it easy. Low lights and avoid a lot of noise.

Can an injured person refuse first aid?
An injured person can refuse treatment. Although you should explain the consequences if they refuse treatment. For example, if somebody has a wound and they refuse treatment you should explain how it could get infected if not treated.
However, if a patient has a possible injury to their head or is unable to make appropriate decisions due to a neurological condition then you could treat the patient but if you are a first aider then you should not treat the patient yourself and should contact 999 for further advice. As it is a grey area and can really depend on that specific case.
