What are signs and symptons of shock?
There are several different types of shock. They are Anaphylactic, Cardiogenic, Hypovolemic, Respiratory Insufficency, Neurogenic, Psychogenic (fainting),and Septic. I am training to be an EMT and we learned to assess the general signs of compensated shock as: Agitation, Anxiety, Restlessness, Feeling of Impending Doom, Altered Mental Status Weak, Rapid (thready) or absent Distal Pulses Clammy (pale, cool, moist) Skin Pallor (paleness) with Cyanosis (blue color) of the Lips Shallow, Rapid Breathing Air Hunger (shortness of breath), especially if there is a chest injury Nausea or Vomiting Capillary refill of longer than 2 seconds in infants and children Marked Thirst DECOMPENSTAED SHOCK (later stage) is when the blood pressure begins to fall and patients soon move into IRREVERSIBLE SHOCK in which no interventions or transfusions will reverse the effects and death is imminent. The best option is to treat people once the first signs of compenstated shock develop and to seek medical treatment ASAP. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE VERY FIRST SIGN OF COMPENSTATED SHOCK IS AGITATION OR ALTERED MENTAL STATUS. Every type of shock is triggered differently, presents differently, and needs to be treated differently. However rapid transport, maintaining an airway, controlling bleeding, thermal management (keep them warm), and elevation of the legs so long as no spinal injuries are suspected seem to be a key theme. The signs of DECOMPENSTATED SHOCK are as follows: Falling Blood pressure (systolic blood pressure of 90 mm Hg or lower in an adult) Labored or irregular breathing Ashen, mottled, or cyanotic skin Thready or absent pulses Dull eyes, dialated pupils Poor urinary output. Hope this was able to help! :)
What do do if you need aed but person in water?
If they are in a shallow puddle, it is generally safe to use the AED (though you would be smart to drag them out of it, if possible). If they are immersed, you need to take them out of the water first.
As long as you can keep the torso dry, you are good to shock.

How do you remove a pill that gets stuck in your throat?
Eat peanut butter. It will make the pill go down instantly. Sit up (don't lie down or recline) and drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Warm liquids may help to dissolve a pill a little faster. A few bites of something starchy like bread or rice can help. If the pill doesn't dislodge by itself, it is best to seek professional medical help, as some pills can actually cause harm to the lining of your esophagus if left unchecked.
What is the treatment for a cracked rib?
There really isn't a lot one can do for a cracked rib. The old-style therapy was to try and tape the chest wall. Other than forming a pretty ineffective armor over the rib, this seems to have no real effect at all. Cracked ribs hurt when you breathe, and take up to 5 weeks to heal -- sometimes more. Painkillers and icepacks are your salvation. Try hard not to irritate the wound.
Note -- this is true of cracked ribs. Broken ribs are another matter altogether.

What to put on your finger if you burn it?
Is your burn just red, with no bumps or blisters?
If so, this is a first degree burn or superficial burn. These are best treated by placing the affected area under cool running water for 15-20 minutes, until the area is cool to the touch. Do not use ice! It may add additional problems!
After the area is cool, you may want to put aloe gel on it, or some other cream- but this is optional.
Is your burn blistering and red?
If so, this is a second degree burn or intermediate burn. This is best treated by immersing the area in cool water, changing the water as it heats- or very slow running water. Always use cool water. Keep cooling the area for 15-20 minutes, until the area is cool to the touch. You want the area to cool down so that it does not continue burning you! (Yes, the heat you feel when you touch a burn on your skin before you treat it can burn you further, and therefore you really want to treat it as soon as you can!)
After the area is cool, cover the area with a dry sterile "cloth"- I would suggest a piece of gauze, using medical tape to secure it.
You do not want to pop the blisters, and you want the area to be able to breath. Do not wet the cloth before applying, as that takes away air flow, and also ensuring that if you didn't cool it enough, the remaining heat will not be trapped in the bandage and do more damage.
Is the area blackened?
This would be a 3rd degree or deep burn. If you have a 3rd degree/deep burn, you NEED TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM NOW.
These burns require immediate medical attention, no matter how small they are.
How long does it take for a tongue to heal after a seizure?
Depending on the severity of the bite it can take anywhere from a 2 or 3 days to a little over a week. I speak from personal experience. The only thing to do is use some peroxide to keep it clean and use some warm salt water to help the healing. It might be hard to eat and or feel weird while talking.
What should you do if there are foreign bodies in a wound?
You can remove foreign bodies only when you are absolutely certain that doing so won't make things worse. Small splinters can be removed in the field, as can non-penetrating foreign bodies in the eye.
Anything that may intersect a blood vessel or underlying anatomical structure (like a bone or tendon) should be secured for transport and handled at the treatment facility.
When in doubt, secure and transport.
When treating a snakebite what should you do to decrease the spread of venom?
Apply a pressure bandage NOT a tourniquet to the site of the bite wound - Keep the bite area as low as possible to restrict the flow of venom to the victim's heart - Seek URGENT medical attention at once !
What does 'ABC of first aid' stand for?
=A - Airway - the patients airway must be clear and open. An unconscious patient lying supine will have an obstructed airway because the tongue will fall onto the posterior wall and prevent airflow.==B - Breathing - make sure the patient is breathing before attending to any injuries. ==C - Circulation - a patient that has a pulse is not necessarily alive, there may be an airway obstruction, be careful!=

Why is it important to report details of first aid administered to the professional?
First, when you are not a doctor, you could not jugde the gravity of the incident. And
To debrief helps the doctor to understand the circumstances, and to adapt the treatement. It can help you understand if your reactions were accurate when you give the first aid.
Concerning the first aid, just keep in mind : you are not a doctor !
Your aim is to call for medical assistance and to maintain the victim is the best state possible until it arrives.
What are the side effects when you inhale anmonia and bleach?
Never, ever, ingest bleach. Don't even let it get in your mouth as it will cause severe burns. Most commercial bleach products are solutions of 3 to 6% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in water. This has a pH of about 11, so bleach is very alkaline. The primary effects are severe irritation and corrosion of mucous membranes, with pain and inflammation occurring esophagus and GI tract. There may be some swelling from edema as the result is basically like a burn. It's unusual for anyone to ingest a large amount because of the very bad taste, and usually there is spontaneous vomiting of any small amount swallowed. When bleach mixes with hydrochloric acid in the stomach, hypochlorous acid is formed. The body can handle small amounts of this as the blood will buffer it. Ingestion of household bleach does not usually cause lasting damage nor is it seriously toxic. The treatment is dilution with water, milk, or perhaps antacids. Commercial (industrial) bleaches, could be much more serious.
What are the four rules to first aid?
The 4 first aid rules are:-
1. Never needlessly move a victim / patient.
2. Don't apply pressure to cavities.

4. Anything from inside the body that comes out the body, (evisceration), stays out.

When having a seizure why would you be foaming at the mouth?
If he also drinks a lot and is more hungry than usual, it could be Diabetes. It's rather common with older dogs, but it is possible at much younger age. If he has a seizure you could feed it a strong sugar solution with a syringe without a needle.
I would strongly suggest seeing a vet as soon as possible, whatever it is! Seizures are very heavy on the heart, and he could not survive the next one.
When shouldyou seek medical attenion for a cut?
Small, superfical cuts, less than full skin thickness, can usually be treated with an antibacterial lotion, creme or ointment. They will usually heal after a period of days, watch for redness, swelling and increased pain which are signs of infection. A cut that goes through the full layer of skin, has fat bodies protruding, or where you can visualize structures beneath the skin, should be closed by a doctor, even if the cut appears small. If the patient is hemorrhaging (bleeding excessively), apply direct pressure with a clean cloth and elevate the wound above the level of the heart. Alert Emergency Medical Services immediately.
