What is noodle fishing?

To noodle fish you wade in waters with flooded stumps and catfish. You then walk up to an underwater stump and try to find a hole in it underwater. You then stick your arms in there and feel around. This will not scare the fish. You then wait for it to open its gills for a breath of "water" and you grab it by the gills from the inside of its mouth and hold on tight. pull it up quick before it drags you down.

How do you catch a brilliant rainbow trout in reel fishing anglers dream?

there's a lot that I've caught so ill tell u how to catch some right now. if you've got to the south seas its the blue marlin. (16 feet!) you have to catch 10 fish with the off shore rod. then you have to catch any species of fish. (99 total for all fish) then go there and cast center right. (there's a rock far out cast there) then u figure out the rest on how to hook it and reel it in.

now the king salmon. do what the book says, if u don't have the book catch 10 fish with the saltwater fly rod, and play for 8 hours or more. then on the right there's a grassy patch, cast there and use a fly to hook it, u do the rest.

the char. cast in the middle, and use any bait right away it should come, if it doesn't, just do what the book says except u only have to play up to the char spot.

that is just some tomorrow ill tell u the rest. (where the fish are) k?

Do cat fish have teeth?

They have a row of small "sand-paper" like teeth on both the top and bottom jaws. Each row consists of hundreds of teeth and these predominantly soft and are used to grip the prey; they slope inwards toward the back of the mouth. In front of the throat cavity are two crushing plates, which the cats use to squash its prey prior to swallowing. They also have a number of short spikes on the edge of the gills. These are used to manipulate their pray prior to swallowing. Although this description might sound horrible it is quite safe to put your hand (and arm) into a catfish's mouth as the teeth are soft and only occasionally scratch.

What are the differences between spinner baits and spoons?

A spinner bait is made of led with a thin steel wire embedded in it along with a hook. The wire may be straight or bent like a safety pin. On the wire there will be one or two spinners shaped like a tear drop or willow tree leaf. At the hook end there will be attached a skirt of rubber stranded material, a hair tail usually made of squirrel tail hair, or in some cases feathers. These baits of course do not float, but can be used at or near the surface of the water by rapid retrieval of the reel. Some anglers also use a trailer and hook of some kind. This is a small plastic grub or worm slipped over the hook of the bait and gives the bait a larger appearance to the fish. The trailer hook helps the angler to set the hook when a fish is slow to strike as in the late winter and early spring. It is a bait that can be used at all depths and near and through all types of cover like dead trees, grass, lily pads and submerged brush piles.

Crankbaits come in a wide variety of forms and as their name implies are meant to be "cranked" or reeled in from splash down to rod tip. This does not mean to throw it out and wind it in however. It means the action imparted to the bait is caused by reeling. Sometimes a slow steady retrieve works, sometimes fast while at other times a stop and go retrieve works best. They are made of plastic or wood moulded or carved in the general shape of a small bait fish. Floaters generally have a lip on the front which causes it to wiggle side to side mimicking a swimming bait fish. The size of the lip determines the depth these baits will dive. Short lips dive shallow while the longer lips dive deeper. The diameter (test) of the line will also effect the depth of the dive. Sinkers may or may not have a lip and sink to a desired depth by counting down. A rule of thumb is after the bait lands is to count by thousands to the desired depth. So if an angler wishes to fish around a rock pile 10 feet deep, they would count "one one thousand, two one thousand and on to ten. This will put most baits in the 10 foot range. Crankbaits can be fished in the same areas as spinner baits by exercising a little caution.

Both baits are very productive and fun to use.

Can you use a spin rod for float fishing?

Any medium power rod with a fast action is good for general bass fishing (casting lures or using live bait). This is usually paired with a reel capable of spooling a 100 yards of 10lb line (or 20 lb braid).

Bass fishing also has a number of techniques that can be used (such as flipping, pitching, frogging) that have specialty rods that can be used.

Most people prefer to use a rod length of 6'6" though longer and shorter rods can be used depending on the situation.

What is the best bait to catch crabs?

Commercial crabbers use wire cages, referred to as pots, to catch crabs. The pots are baited with menhadden, or some other baitfish, then lowered into the water. The pot rests on the bottom, and the crabs enter through a small opening. Once the prey enters, it cannot find it's way out, thus it is trapped until the crabber returns to shake the pot.

How do you catch pike in fall?

Northern pike eat almost anything! In the spring they will be in pretty shallow and looking for slow moving baits, so get a sucker minnow, kill it, and cast in about 3-7 feet of water. I catch 5 pound northern with that. In summer they move out deep to around 5-14 ft deep and that is a good time to use maybe a herring, or sucker minnow with a slip bobber and put the bait right above the weeds. I catch northern about 4-8 pounds doing that. In fall they like to stay in shallow like 1-4 ft deep, and the smaller ones move out deep to around 5-7 feet deep. I have only caught one northern in fall, but it was 40 inches and it was in 1 1/2 feet of water. I was bass fishing with a Texas rigged worm and dragging it over the top and it jumped for it and missed, and I casted near the big splash and I got it hooked and it took a run for about 1/2 feet of water. It was a really shallow cove. Use big baits around 4-8 inches in fall, and move them slow or fast. In winter use like a full hot dog or full brat and hook it weedless and and find a rocky point or a weedy are, and the weeds have to be green. Let it drop down and just wait for a really long time. If you want to make your arm tired and then get a BIG one to bite and have a fight of a winter lifetime, then use a red and white spoon. Jig it up and down and if you have a camera, when you see the pike and it isn't biting then make it faster, but smaller flutters. DON'T stop the spoon. You don't want the fish to see the hooks and swim away, the just stinks. Hope this was helpful!
Pike generally inhabit weed edges are drawn to live bait like minnows or lures like crankbaits or jerkbaits.

What can you use for crawdad bait?

Crabs are known as scavengers, who will literally eat anything that they can sink their claws into. But, the age old question about bait really depends on what type of crabbing activity one does. Commercial crabbers in the Bering Sea, who go after the larger crabs will bait their Crab Pots with large chunks of fish, along with the fish heads and guts that people normally throw out. They may also include a bait bottle with mashed clams and other fishy viscera, and or a slowly dissolving oily and smelly chemical attractant solution. That type of baiting is obviously on one extreme.

Recreational crabbing generally requires less bait dedication; as long as there's something in the crab trap, a crab will eventually smell it and show up to try to eat it. What helps the crab smell something is water movement. If a trap is laid in dead calm waters, where there is zero tidal activity, then that scent is not going to be carried very far. This is why long time crabbers like to go to areas that have good tidal bore movement, so that any bait scent is carried, attracting crabs from a much greater distance.

Alternatively, some crabbers will augment their chances by using a lot of bait, filling a bait bag with an overflowing amount of bio material that is leaking a tremendous amount of smelly crab calling juices. What people have used as bait ranges with imagination and costs as consideration. Anything from Bunker (Atlantic Menhaden, type of oily fish) to Chicken Necks; to old 'about to spoil' and discarded fish parts (many supermarkets will sell this at reduced cost) can be used. Others will even bait their traps with cans of Cat Food that had holes punched into them.

All things considered one has to decide for him or herself how much of an investment one wants to make in the crabbing activity. There doesn't seem to be a wrong way to bait a crab trap.

Which is a better sport fishing or football?

That is merely a matter of opinion. I was a all state football player in high school, and grew up fishing too. One day, a man is too old to play football, but one is never too old to fish! I vote fishing, hands down!
