Earthworms can be a great fishing bait. Bass, trout, etc. will definitely go after them. Whether you are fishing in a lake, river, stream, once they see a "live" worm, you have a great chance of having a good dinner later on, or if you catch and release ....(which I prefer, since many people "think" after catching one fish, that they will keep all the fish they catch for dinneronly to end up with only catching nothing but grass or seaweed after...or catching only 1 or 2 fish total and they decide that they don't have enough for a good dinner, and just leave the "now dead fish" for the birds, fish or bugs to eat). That is why I think "CATCH AND RELEASE" is the best way to fish. Especially when it comes to game fish, like Sailfish. All you need now to have your fish "stuffed" is to have the measurements....since fish are pretty much NOT stuffed anymore, but they are just copied in size on a fiberglass cast, and then the cast is airbrushed (painted) to look like the fish is naturally when it is in the water (sailfish quickly loose all their beautiful colors after a very short time when they are kept out of the water. Also, with Sailfish, many people don't know that the meat of the fish is a delicacy, and when they keep the fish and return to the docks, the owner of the charter fishing boat don't tell the customers and the charter boat captain just They hang it up, take a picture for the customer and then tells their customers that they will get it stuffed for them. The customer leaves with only a picture, and the wait until they get their "stuffed" sailfish, only to find that it is a fiberglass cast. Then they realize that the boat captain either kept the fish meat for himself, or sold it at an additional profit after getting the customer's money for the charter fishing that day.

But the answer that you were given before about worms not being good bait is...wrong! Dig some up (go online and look up where to find earthworms, and you will find where they like to dig and live. You can then have "fun" digging them up, using them as bait, and catching a bunch of fish. Remember, bass have times when they are eating (early in the morning and late in the day). That doesn't mean they won't bite during the day, but just that your best chances might be early in the morning or late in the day, just before sunset). Also, always use the internet to get info on the particular fish you want to catch. The more you know about the fish, the better your chances of knowing how to catch them.

Yes, of course you can. In fact if you do you will not need a bite alarm at all. Put the reel on ratchet (and off lock) and the line will pull off the spool perfectly making all the noise you will need. If you are after extreme distance then a well set up multiplier teamed with a stiff rod and a practised pendulum cast will send a bait up and in capable hands over, 200 yds. In the margins, also, no problem, just swing the bait out under thumb control. Surprised that few carp anglers have really explored the potential of the multiplier.

Well I think the term you were going to ask was how was the fishing reel made well the indians were the first ones to make fishing and so they fought there children and there children tought there children and so on and when the time of machinery came one of the children helped make a stronger metal reel even though they didn't have metal in indian time but the first metal reel came from Japan cause they first Indian tribe was there.

It depends on what you mean by largest fishing port. If you are talking about dollar amount then yes it is New Bedford largely due to the scallop landings which fetch a high price and account for over 75% of the value of fish landed in New Bedford. If you are talking about volume, that is pounds of fish landed, then it is Dutch Harbor, Alaska. In 2010 there was 515.2 million pounds of fish and shellfish landed in Dutch Harbor. New Bedford was ranked number 9 with 133.4 million pounds. Quite a difference in weight but the price of scallops makes up for the lack of volume.

I have been making fishing lures for about a year now, im still new at it. But i use a lathe and make the shape I want (for either a Hula-popper, Crankbait or spook). You have to get eye screws for the hooks and to attach the line to it. For the crank baits, i use plexiglass for the diving beak. You can also carve your lures, I've done that too but it takes a long time. My preferred wood is Cedar and Basswood because it isn't TOO soft like balsa wood and the eye screws hold better in it. All my lures swim great and they catch fish. My carved lures dont look great but they work, the lures I made with the lathe look great! There are many websites that can help with information on making lures (like how tomake them dive deeper, control the wobble that you want it to have, whether you want a tight wiggle or wide wobble ect.).

They eat multiple thing but when I go early they bite but never hook on. They best bait ill say is muscle. You have to wrap it around good and you feel them bite hard yank your pole up and check your hooks oftenly because it slips of sometimes. HAPPY FISHING!!!!!

If you are using live or deadbaits and you want to catch an average sized pike go for a rod with test curve of around 2.5 - 3lb (it will probably say this information on the rod). I usually use a carp rod for this job as it is the same a pike rod only it says "carp rod" on it instead. Also, they are easier to hold of for me. If your are lure fishing with small-medium lures then yet yourself a specified spinning rod with a spinning reel, and for jerk baits use a jerkiest or heavy lure rod and use with a 4000 sized fixed-spool reel or a multiplier.
